Through collaborative researches in 2008～2009,on the base of occurrence of maize rough dwarf disease and small brown planthopper,and resistant varieties and prevention of maize,we proposed the strategy"cut off the virus source,pest control and disease prevention,integrated control".Based on extension of the resistant varieties and planting period,combined the comprehensive control measures of the key that pest disease control at seedling,the epidemic of the maize rough dwarf disease was controlled effectively,which achieved remarkable economic and social benefits.

In recent years,viral diseases occured more and more seriously on maize plants in Lin’an city, especially,the viral diseases were very prevalent and caused a great of losses of corn yield in *** order to explore the epidemics of diseases and to provide the scientific guidance for prevention and control,we investigated the occurrence and prevalence of the viral disease on maize plants during 2007～*** results indicated that maize rough dwarf disease was main viral disease on maize plant in the city and had some epidemic characteristics as following:①the disease occurred in large area and caused significant yield *** of diseased plants is up to 8000 mu in 2007,15000 mu in 2008,and 10000 mu in 2009 and 2010,respectively(nearly 1/3～1/2 of total area of maize plants in the city).The incidence of diseased plant was 10%～30%in most of fields and more than 50%in some seriously diseased fields.②The population density of SBPH was very high,which was contributed to viral spread and formed a big threat to corn *** late May to early June,2008～2010,the population density of SBPH on weed fields was up to 10.6 SBPH / m2,8.7 SBPH/m,6.5 SBPH/m,respectively. The population density of SBPH on wheat fields was up to 453000 SBPH/mu,287000 SBPH/mu,205000 SBPH/mu,*** overgrew in the fields and there was a variety of host plants for *** addition,rice black-streaked dwarf disease seriously occurred on single-season late rice plants in some villages and towns,which contributed to the accumulation and transmission of viruses and thus formed a great threat to corn production.③The disease occurred on many cultivars of maize plants,including all main maize *** cultivars,on which disease incidence was more than 10%during 2008～2009,included,Jidan 94-2 and Suyu ***,on which disease incidence was 5%～10%,included Dushiliren,Jundan 20,and Jundan ***,on which disease incidence was 2%～5%,included Dushiliren,Cuitiannuo 6,Suyunuo

＜正＞Maize rough disease dwarf disease（MRDD）.was a serious viral disease transmitted by small brown planthopper（SBPH）（Laodelphax striatellus）.Once occurred on maize plants,it was difficult to control by drug and thus known as ’cancer on maize’.In recent years,the disease outbreak and is very prevalent in maize growing areas in the northwest and eastern *** incidence of diseased plants was 20%～50%.resulting in significant losses of corn yields,in general.20%～30%losses in most of diseased fields, even no harvest in some seriously diseased *** order to explore the relationship between sowing date,growth stage,and the incidence of MRDD and to prevent and control the disease more effectively by spraying pesticide at fit time,we performed these experiments on sowing date,leaf age,and incidence of MRDD during 2008～*** experiments in the field indicated there were a close relationship between the sowing date of maize plants and the incidence of *** plants,sown in early spring（early and mid April） or late summer（mid and late June）.showed low disease index and incidence of 2%～5%in general while those plants,sown at mid *** high disease index and incidence of 30%～60%in *** inoculation experiments on maize seedling at deferent stages of leaves under the insect-proof condition showed that there were the disease incidence of 3.3%when inoculated at the stage of 2 expanded leaves and 1 interior leaf. 16.7%when inoculated at the stage of 3 expanded leaves and 1 interior leaf.16.7%when inoculated at the stage of 4 expanded leaves and 1 interior leaf,stage of two and leave.3.3% when inoculated at the stage of 5 expanded leaves and 1 interior leaf and 0%in other inoculated maize *** results indicated maize plants at the stages of 2～6 leaves were very susceptible to the disease,especially,the most sensitive period was seedling with 3～5 expended leaves and 1 interior leaf and also was a fit time for disease control while maize plants wi

＜正＞Maize rough dwarf disease,is a serious viral disease transmitted by small brown planthoppers（SBPH）（Laodelphax striatellus）.In recent years,the disease outbreak and is very prevalent in maize growing areas in the northwest Zhejiang because of many complexed factors,including changes in farming and cultivation system,the accumulation of virus sources and insects,decreased disease resistance of varieties,and climatic conditions and some other *** these areas,the epidemic with a disease incidence of 20%～60% in general resulted in great losses of corn yield（up to 20%～30%）.in some serious area, even no *** order to explore the basic mechanism of occurrence and prevalence of MRDD and to provide the technology for disease *** and control,we investigated on the main host plants and incidence of MRDD during 2009～2010. Observations showed that at the early stage of *** dashed-line-like spots first occurred along both sides of midrib on the base of heart leaf and then gradually expanded across the *** waxy-streaked swellings along the veins on the underside of the leaf blades,leaf sheaths and bracts were rough to *** of infected plants became short and wide,darkening green,thick and rigid,and clustered *** growth and development of infected plants were inhibited,including swollen and shortened nodes, pronounced dwarfing,and few and short roots（less than half of the healthy plants and easy to pull up from the soil）.Infected plants with mild symptoms showed that dysplastic tassel shedding fewer pollen grains and short ears containing fewer filaments,resulted in fewer corn *** plants with sever symptoms could not tassel out or a few of branches could tassel out but shed no pollen grains;dysplastic ears became sterile or fewer fertile. ＜正＞Maize rough dwarf disease（MRDD）,transmitted by small brown planthoppers （SBPH）（Laodelphax striatellus）,is known as a"cancer"on *** recent years, due to many complexed factors,including changes in farming and cultivation system,the accumulation of virus sources and insects,decreased disease resistance of varieties,and climatic conditions and some other factors,the disease outbreak and is very prevalent in maize growing areas in the northwest *** in significant losses of corn yield. In order to explore the basic mechanism of occurrence and prevalence of MRDD and to provide the technology for disease prevention and control,a survey on incidence of SBPH and MRDD had been conducted during 2008～*** showed that SBPH occurred in the 6 generations per year in Chun’ an *** Province,and the sixth generation of nymphs overwintered on wheat,barley,Alopecurus plants,and other cereal *** the following late February to late March,they emerged as adults and oviposited for the first-generation of adults on the overwintering *** first generation of adults moved from the aging wheat and weed to the spring and summer maize,late single-season rice and summer weeds（barnyard grass and crabgrass,etc.） and reproduced the 2nd and 3rd generation,maize and rice plants in *** this period,the number of SBPH reached its peak *** continued to breed the 4-6th generations;in the mid and late October, the fifth generation of nymphs move onto wheat and weeds for *** acquired viruses on the disease plants by sucking *** at the stage of 2～3 age acquires viruses most *** of them acquired viruses in more than 24 *** minimum duration of the acquisition is 1 *** acquiring virus,SBPH could transmit it in a persistent manner but no transmission occured through the *** of them transmitted the virus in more than 48 hours.A minimum duration of transmission is 2 *** period in fe

＜正＞Maize rough dwarf disease,a destructive viral disease of maize which transmitted by small brown planthopper（Laodelphax striatellus）,was break out in hangzhou,Zhejiang Province,in *** disease destroyed more than 60000 acres of cornfield,which is about 50%of the total corn growing area in that *** incidences of the disease was 20%～60%,and caused losses of 20%～30%of the total *** some severe cornfields,no corns *** heavy losses of corn yield would have great influence in efficiency of agriculture,income of farmers and stability of country society. In order to control the small brown planthopper and maize rough dwarf disease,several pesticides, such as pymetrozine,were used as seed dressing *** controls experiments,including 8 g/acres, 16 g/acres,20 g/acres of pymetrozine and negative control（sprayed with water） were carried out with maize variety of Jundan *** incidences of maize rough dwarf disease sprayed with 8 g/acres, 16 g/acres and 20 g/acres of pymetrozine is 3.67%,2.33%and 2.33%,with the disease index of 2.0,1.25 and 1.17,*** efficacies of the three treatments are 31.1%～33.3%,56.3%～58.3%and 56.3%～61%,respectively. The test shows that the seed mixed with pymentrazine at the concentration of 20 g/acres or 16g/acres could achieve the best control *** low population density,the maize rough dwarf disease could be controlled by use Pymetrozine as seed dressing *** was an obvious progress in corn yield after we popularized this seed dressing technique to control corn ***,in some epidemic areas with high population density and percentage of virus bringing of small brown planthopper,other pesticides spray control should also be applied besides seed dressing with pymetrozine.

Zhejiang control of maize rough dwarf research group’s collaboration research in 1988-1989 indicated that maize rough dwarf disease epidemic have a certain relationship with the small brown planthopper population dynamics,maize sowing,leaf age,cultivar resistance and rice factors during development of maize,which is the main basis for disease *** results provide a scientific basis for the formulation of maize rough dwarf disease prediction method and monitoring and forecasting with the control of maize rough dwarf.
