The molecular based electrical conductor Ni(C3S5)2 has been prep.r.d and its conductivity has been measured from room temp.r.ture down to 60 K. Above 167 K Ni(C3S5)2 exhibits a semiconductive behaviour, below this temp.r.ture it turns to exhibit metallic conductivity. Based on a tight-binding energy band calculation, an expression for the number of conducting electrons has been deduced. The calculated conducting activation energy is quite well in accordance with the measuring value.

The objectives of this work are the development and design of disturbance observers (DO’s) for a team of agents that accomplish consensus on agents’ states in the presence of exogenous disturbances. A pinning control strategy is designed for a p.r. of agents of the multiagent systems without disturbances, and this pinning control can bring multiple agents’ states to reaching an expected consensus value. Under the effect of the disturbances, nonlinear disturbance observers are developed for disturbances generated by an exogenous system to estimate the disturbances. Asymptotical consensus of the multiagent systems with disturbances under the composite controller can be achieved. Finally, by applying an example of multiagent systems with switching topologies and exogenous disturbances, the design of the p.r.meters of DO’s are illuminated.

A large number of applications in image processing and computer vision depend on image quality. In this pap.r. main concerns are image denoising and deblurring simultaneously in a restoration task by three types of methodologies: non-convex regularization, inverse diffusion and shock filter. We discuss their relations in the context of image deblurring: the inverse diffusion implied by the non-convex regularization, and the sup.r.or ability of deblurring edge of the shock filter to that of the inverse diffusion, both in 1D and 2D cases. Finally, we propose a region-based adaptive anisotropic diffusion with shock filter method, which shows advantages of deblurring edges, denoising and smoothing contours in exp.r.ments, comp.r.d with some related methods. Therein an idea of "divide and rule" is introduced.

Function S-rbugh sets are defined by r-function equivalence class, which have dynamic characteristic. Function S-rough sets have dynamic characteristic, law characteristic and law-hiding characteristic. Function S-rough sets can generate f-hiding law and f-hiding law. By engrafting, crossing, and penetrating between the information security theory and function S-rough sets, the security hiding and the authentication of f-hiding law and f-hiding law are given respectively in this pap.r. The fusion and share between function S-rough sets and information security theory is a new research direction of the application of information law in information system.

The equilibrium phase and adiabatic temp.r.ture for combustion synthesis of Al_2O_3/B_4C employing Al, B_2O_3 and C as starting materials is analyzed by both conventional and CALpHAD method. The adiabatic temp.r.ture calculed by CALpHAD method is significantly lower than that obtained by conventional method. The CALpHAD calculation also reveals that the equilibrium phases presented at the adiabatic temp.r.ture are different to the desired composites. The adiabatic temp.r.ture in this system can be lowered by introducing Al_2O_3 as diluents. The maximum amount of Al_2O_3 that can be added to the system while maintain a self-sustaining combusion mode is 1.3 mol.

During hot-dipping in molten Zn-55Al, the forming of “floating” dross is closely re- lated with the interaction between the Al and the Fe atoms. Utilizing the thita-thita X-ray diffraction and the p.r.us-Yevick hard sphere model, this pap.r.investigates the structure of molten Al3Fe that is an ap.r.ximant of p.r.ial melt in practical Zn-55Al alloy melt. It is found that in the melt there exist clusters that resemble the structure of intermetallic compound Al3Fe. The strong in- teraction between Al and Fe atoms is also indicated by the deficiency of the coordination number from 12 and the shrinkage of averaged atomic diameter. Based on such information, it is specu- lated that in the molten Zn-55Al, with the accumulation of Fe, Al3Fe-like clusters form with priority, then grow into dross. On the other hand, after deflating of the effective hard sphere diameter of p.r. Al atom and enlarging that of the p.r. Fe atom, the modified model can achieve reasonable fit to the exp.r.mental structure factor. Hard sphere modeling also gave a good estimation of the mass density 3.65 g/cm3 of liquid Al3Fe alloy at 1550℃. Comp.r.d with the density of 3.7 g/cm3 of Zn-55Al, the reason for dross floating is satisfactorily understood.

As one of the most effective measures to extract useful information from medical database and provide scientific decision-making for diagnosis and treatment of diseases, medical data mining has become an increasingly hot topic in the last few years. Some of the intrinsic characteristics of medical databases, such as the huge volume and imbalanced samples as well as stringent p.r.ormance standards, make this mining process p.r.icularly challenging. By elaborating various challenges existing in Task 1 of KDD Cup 2008 competition, this pap.r.analyzes some potential solutions to these problems and presents a modified boosted tree as the final classification model. This model ranked the fourth among all the solutions to Task 1. We hope that our analysis and solutions to these challenges would contribute to the development of medical data mining applications.
