Distribution and origin of biologically available phosphorus in the water of the Meiliang Bay in summer

The investigation and continuous monitoring with an innovative iron oxide embedded cellulose acetate membrane (FeO/CAM) on the concentrations of biologically available phosphorus (BAP) were conducted in the Meiliang Bay of the Taihu Lake during summer in 2004. The results showed that the concentrations of dissolved (FeO-DP), particulate (FeO-PP) and total bioavailable phosphorus (FeO-P) had similar horizontal distribution. The BAP concentrations were the highest in those estuaries in the northern bay. With the decrease of the distance to the estuary or long shore,there was little difference between BAP concentrations in an open lake area. During the observation period, algal blooms occurred in most waters of the northern bay, which was reflected from the high concentrations of chlorophyll a (Chl-a). While they were not highest in the estuarine waters of those major rivers, this is the case for the BAP concentrations. The concentrations of Chl-a had a significantly positive correlation with those of bioavailable phosphorus in the open area of the Meiliang *** the sediment resuspension induced by wind and wave, BAP concentrations increased in a short-term, indicating that the riverine P inputs mainly contribute to the concentrations of BAP in the estuarine water while internal P release was the major source of BAP in the open lake area. In the eutrophic shallow lake, the blooms of alga may cause pH increase and further result in internal P release. The above results showed that the new membrane of FeO/CAM can be used to monitor the concentrations of BAP and provide the scientific justifications for the control strategy of the lake eutrophication.

A Trusted environment Construction Method for Security-Sensitive Software

This paper presents a trusted-environment construction method based on the underlying hardware. This method aims at protecting the security-sensitive software in the aspects of software loading, running, and storing in the general operating system. It extends the trust chain of the traditional trusted computing technology to reach the target software, ensuring trusted loading. The extended memory management mechanism effectively pre- vents memory dumping and memory tampering for the high-sensitivity data. The file monitoring mechanism protects files from vicious operation made by attackers. Flexible-expanded storage environment provides the target software with static storing protection. Experimental system verifies that the method is suitable for general operating system and can effectively protect security-sensitive software with low overhead.

The suspended sediment transport equation and its near-bed sediment flux

The suspended sediment transport equation and its near-bed sediment flux are one of the key problems of sediment transport research under nonequilibrium condition. Based on the three-dimensional primitive suspended transport equation, the two-dimensional suspended sediment transport equation is deduced. The derived process indicates that the physical essence of the near-bed sediment flux is right the bottom boundary condition for the suspended sediment transport equation. This paper analyzes the internal relations between the two methods of sediment carrying capacity and shear stress in common use, points out the consistency of these two methods in terms of form and physical meaning, and unifies these two methods theoretically. Furthermore, based on the analysis and comparison of the expressions of the near-bed sediment flux, this paper summarizes some problems to which attention should be paid, thus offering a novel approach to the study and the solution of the problems of suspended sediment transport and exchange flux of near-bed water sediment.

Modeling and prediction for the acute toxicity of pesticide mixtures to the freshwater luminescent bacterium Vibrio qinghaiensis sp.-Q67

In china, water pollution by pesticide mixtures has constituted a serious environmental problem due to potential toxicity and bioaccumulation. But few pesticide combinations have exactly similar and dissimilar mechanisms of action. For this purpose, in tests with the freshwater luminescent bacterium （Vibrio qinghaiensis sp.-Q67）, ten pesticides, including three herbicides and seven insecticides, were selected as test substances. Concentration response analysis was performed for ten individual substances, and for mixtures containing all ten substances in twelve different concentration ratios （based on UDCR and EECR methods）. The observed mixture toxicity was compared with predictions by the two models, concentration addition （CA） and independent action （IA）. The toxicity of the tested mixtures showed a good agreement with those predicted by the concept of CA except four UDCR mixtures： UD10-2, UD10-4, UD10-8 and UD10-10. To examine the influence of imidacloprid in the four UDCR mixtures （UD10-2, UD10-4, UD10-8, UD10-10）, it was removed from the ten-pesticide mixtures and the remaining nine chemicals were combined at the same relative proportions based on the UDCR method （UD9-2, UD9-4, UD9-8, UD9-10）. There was not significant departure from CA for the scattered points with the nine remaining pesticides omitting imidacloprid. Thus, imidacloprid may significantly influence the other pesticides due to its properties.

In the process of unprecedented urbanization in contemporary china, a great many of Chinese cities have witnessed a rapid expansion of urban scale to different degrees. With the continuous compilation, amendment and enforcement of urban planning, the functional structure, spatial environment, street patterns and textures and even the social aspect of cities have changed conspicuously, all of which have directly happened to the spatial forms of the dimension, or even the multi-dimension of a certain city. By describing and analyzing the structure, evolution and explicit tokens of the spatial forms of cities, this thesis attempts to set up a model of factors that affect urban forms, as well as discuss the attributes, protection, adjustment and development-potential of urban land closely associated with forms. In addition, on the basis of the professional features for urban design to participate in the modeling and construction-management of desirable spatial forms of cities, the author has put forward technical measures for quantitatively appraising and analyzing the large-scaled spatial forms of cities, thus offering technical support to municipal governments and management departments of planned construction.

Software trustworthiness has become one of the key restrictions for software service quality and the development of the software ***,trustworthiness attributes interlace structured and dynamical coupling relations,which causes great barriers for trustworthiness measurements of large-scale *** to the dynamical evolutionary characteristics of software trustworthiness attributes,this paper proposes a new approach for optimizing the trustworthiness measurement in terms the kernel trustworthiness attributes,and improves a downsize-optimized statistical analysis method for software trustworthiness attributes based on their nonlinear *** improved method considerably simplifies the trustworthiness assessment of largescale *** theoretical analysis and numerical simulations,the feasibility of this method is verified using two typical examples that illustrate the realization of the trustworthiness measurement.

A new method, node ordinal encoded genetic algorithm (NOEGA), is proposed for solving water resources optimal allocation problems, in which the capacity of water resources is split into a number of smaller parts so that successive operations can be overlapped. Our objective is to maximize the whole benefit function. To overcome the “dimensionality and algorithm complexity curse” while searching for solutions and looking for an optimal solution, the operations of one-point crossover operator, gene exchange operator, gene random operator, gene shift operator and node ordinal strings are established. It is proved to be an effective optimal method in searching for global solutions. The NOEGA does not need a diversity of initial population, and it does not have the problem of immature convergence. The results of two cases show that using NOEGA to solve the optimal allocation model is very efficient and robust. In addition, the algorithm complexity of NOEGA is discussed.

A series of novel molecules with a cyclen(1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane) moiety appended on and bearing different aromatic fragments in the structures were synthesized and *** binding activities of these compounds towards DNA were systematically studied by spectroscopic,viscometric and gel electrophoresis *** results suggest that the stacking interaction plays an important role in improving the DNA binding ability of the *** binding modes of the compounds towards DNA are also affected by the sizes of the aromatic *** binding interaction between binaphthyl compound 1b and several nucleosides was studied by fluorescence *** interaction and hydrophobic interaction play the key role in such non-selective binding process.

Effects of lanthanum on calcium-activated K^+ currents and its kinetics in MC3T3 cells

Using the whole cell patch-clamp technique,we studied the effects of La3+ on calcium-activated K+ currents and its kinetics of activation and inactivation in non-excitable MC3T3 *** results showed that the calcium-activated outward K+ currents were promoted with increasing concentration of Ca2+ in the pipette solution and a voltage- and Ca2+-dependent ***3+ in the bath solution inhibited the currents in a concentration-dependent manner and the inhibition EC50 was 8.23 ± 1.45 μmol/*** the concentration of 50 μmol/L,La3+ significantly changed the Vh of the activation curve and shifted the activation curve to more positive potentials,but shifted the inactivation curve to more negative *** had no effect on the slope factor k of the activation and inactivation *** currents inhibition could induce a series of physiological and molecular biological functions,presumably because of its ability to depolarize the plasma membrane and enhance cell excitability,resulting in increasing Ca2+ influx and cytoplast Ca2+ *** process may be one of the molecular mechanisms by which La3+ affects the cell growth and function of MC3T3 cells.
