BACKGROUND: Auditory steady-state evoked response (ASSR) is one of the new objective electrophysiological methods to test hearing in infants. It can provide a reliable and complete audiogram with specific frequency to help the hearing diagnosis and rehabilitation of hearing and languaging following auditory screening. OBJECTIVE: To compare the response threshold of ASSR with auditory threshold of visual reinforcement audiometry (VRA) in infants failed in the hearing screening for investigating their hearing loss. DESIGN: A comparative observation. SETTINGS: Maternal and child health care hospitals of guangdong province, Shunde city, Nanhai city and Huadu district. PARTICIPANTS: Totally 32. infants of 0-3 years undergoing ASSR test were selected from the Hearing center of guangdong Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital from January 2.02.to December 2.04. Informed consents were obtained from their guardians. There were 193 cases (60.2.) of 0-6 months, 31 cases (9.7%) of 7-12.months, 17 cases (5.3%) of 13-18 months, 14 cases (4.4%) of 19-2. months, 33 cases of 2.-30 months, and 33 cases (10.2.) of 31-36 months. METHODS: ① The 32. infants failed in the hearing screening were tested under sleeping status, the ranges of response threshold distribution in ASSR of different frequencies were analyzed in each age group. ② The infants above 2.years old were also tested with VRA, and their response thresholds were compared between VRA and ASSR. ③ Evaluative standards: The response threshold was 91 dB for extremely severe hearing loss. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① ASSR results of the infants failed in the screening; ② Proportion of cases of each response threshold in each age group; ③ Comparison of ASSR response thresholds and VRA auditory thresholds in the infants of 2.3 years old. AIM: To investigate the correlation between expression of calreticulin and infiltration of lymphocytes in stage ⅢB colon cancer. METHODS: Sixty-eight pathologically-confirmed speci-mens were obtained from stage ⅢB (T3N1M0) colon cancer patients who underwent radical resection between January 1999 and May 2.02.at the Cancer center of Sun Yat-Sen University, guangzhou, China. Immuno-histochemical analysis was performed to show infiltration of lymphocytes and expression of calreticulin in colon cancer. Association between calreticulin expression, infiltration of lymphocytes, and 5-year survival rate of patients was assessed. RESULTS: The expression level of calreticulin was lower in cancer nest than in its adjacent normal epithelium since 61.8% (42.68) of the samples were stained with calreticulin in colon cancer. The expression of calreticulin in colon cancer was associated with the infi ltration of CD45RO+ cells rather than with that of CD3+ cells. In addition, the stronger expression of calreticulin and the higher infiltration of CD3+ and CD45RO+ cells in colon cancer were associated with the higher 5-year survival rate of patients. CONCLUSION: Expression of calreticulin is associated with infiltration of T-cells, which implies that a low expression level of molecular marker may represent a new mechanism underlying immune escape in colon cancer.

FG02.32.-loaded nanoparticle with PEG and PDLLA improved pharmacodynamics of reversing multidrug resistance in vitro and in vivo

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the epidemiological features of tuberculosis (TB) in guangdong. METHODS: Data on all TB cases in guangdong from 2.04 to 2.09 were obtained from the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention (CISDCP).RESULTS: TB incidence rates and mortality rates increased significantly in guangdong during the study period, from 84.0/100 000 to 118.2.100 000 and from 0.133/100 000 to 0.2.9/100 000, respectively. The smear rates gradually increased but the smear-positive rates gradually decreased from 2.04 to 2.09. The incidence rates in foothill regions (141.4-176.8/100 000) were significantly higher than thoes in Pear River Delta(45.7-96.2.100 000). The ratio of male to female in TB cases was 2.67:1 and the ratios of TB cases in age 2.-60 were 66.2. for male and 73.9 for female. The farmer and labourer were the in the top two occupation ratios in TB incidence , with 64.8%. The case-fatality ratio in the elder was 18.6%.CONCLUSIONS: The increase of TB incidence rate in guangdong was mainly due to the increase of TB incidence rate in labourer and unemployed, especially at age 15-30 and age 35-50, from 2.04 to 2.09. DOTs implementation makes the smear rate increasing and the smear-positive rate *** control is a challenge issue in guangdong.
