Granitoids,volcanic rocks and cherts,mainly of early Paleozoic,in northern Altyn Tagh(Fig.1) are analyzed here for the purpose of the determination of the tectonic environments and their development since Early Paleozoic.(1) Granitoids\ The collection of 128 main\|element petrochemical data from North Altyn Tagh area shows that most of the granitoids here are granites and granodiorites of calc\|alkaline *** consist mainly of metaluminous and peraluminous in Shand’s index,and only one of them,which belongs to Mesozoic,is *** of the granitoids plot in the IAG+CAG+CCG fields in the Maniar and Piccoli’s diagrams (1989) for tectonic discrimination of *** (Island arc granitoids)and CAG (Continental arc granitoids) can be distinguished for Early and Late Paleozoic granitoids,and maybe some CCG (Continental collision granitoids) for Early *** of Mesozoic and Cenozoic inherited the characteristics of those of *** active plate margin (pre\|plate collision)and Anatectic magmatism(syn\|orogenic,S\|type granites)are distinguished (Fig.2)for Paleozoic granitoids using de la Roche R 1\| R 2 multicationic diagram (Batchelor and Bowden,1985).Mesozoic and Cenozoic granitoids inherited the characteristics of Anatectic magmatism (syn\|orogenic)of these early ones,and post\|orogenic(A\|type)granites occurred in *** mechanism for magma formation is mainly partial melting.

The 1979 differential radius observations of the Sun have been reexamined for additional evidence of gravity modes (g-modes) beyond that reported by Hill and to classify the modes for which evidence has been obtained. The basic criteria employed in the mode detection and classification procedure are extensions of the criteria introduced by Hill. The properties of the 31 multiplets classified by Hill are used as the starting point in the work reported here. Statistically significant evidence of additional g-modes has been found and the number of classified multiplets is extended from 31 to 53. The degrees and radial orders of the 53 multiplets are respectively l=1, n=47,…, 7; l=2, n=6,…, 13, 15 and 16; l=3, n=7,…, 20; l=4, n=7,…, 20; and l=5, n=16,…, 26. The m=0 eigenfrequencies are measured with an accuracy of ≈0.02 μHz and the multiplet structure linear in angular order m is measured with an accuracy of ≈0.01 μHz.

The continuum approach in fluid flow modeling is generally applied to porous geological media, but has limited applicability to fractured rocks. With the presence of a discrete fracture network relatively sparsely distributed in the matrix, it may be difficult or erroneous to use a porous medium fluid flow model with continuum assumptions to describe the fluid flow in fractured rocks at small or even large field scales. A discrete fracture fluid flow approach incorporating a stochastic fracture network with numerical fluid flow simulations could have the capability of capturing fluid flow behaviors such as inhomogeneity and anisotropy while reflecting the changes of hydraulic features at different scales. Moreover, this approach can be implemented to estimate the size of the representative elementary volume (REV) in order to find out the scales at which a porous medium flow model could be applied, and then to determine the hydraulic conductivity tensor for fractured rocks. The following topics are focused on in this study: (a) conceptual discrete fracture fluid flow modeling incorporating a stochastic fracture network with numerical flow simulations; (b) estimation of REV and hydraulic conductivity tensor for fractured rocks utilizing a stochastic fracture network with numerical fluid flow simulations; (c) investigation of the effect of fracture orientation and density on the hydraulic conductivity and REV by implementing a stochastic fracture network with numerical fluid flow simulations, and (d) fluid flow conceptual models accounting for major and minor fractures in the 2 D or 3 D flow fields incorporating a stochastic fracture network with numerical fluid flow simulations.

A procedure has been developed for making voiced, unvoiced, and silence classifications of speech by using a multilayer feedforward net -work. Speech signals were analyzed sequentially and a feature vector was obtained for each segment . The feature vector served as input to a 3-layer feedforward network in which voiced, unvoiced, and silence classification was made. The network had a 6-12-3 node architecture and was trained using the generalized delta rule for back propagation of error . The performance of the network was evaluated using speech samples from 3 male and 3 female speakers . A speaker-dependent classification rate of 94.7% and speaker-independent classification rate of 94.3% were obtained. It is concluded that the voiced, unvoiced , and silence classification of speech can be effectively accomplished using a multilayer feedforward network.

AIM: The most recent and innovative AquaLase liquefaction technology has offered an alternative to lens extraction. Many studies have investigated its functions and advantages. This article focuses on evaluating the vivo microscopic cornea changes after AquaLase liquefaction by using a laser confocal microscope. METHODS: In this perspective, randomized case study, 37 eyes of 35 patients submitted to cataract surgery were chosen to undergo AquaLase liquefaction cataract extraction. Each patient was assessed before the operation, on the 1(st), 7(th), and 30(th) postoperative days, and 6 months after the cataract extraction. The morphologies and quantitative comparisons of corneal cells and corneal nerves layer by layer were evaluated in vivo with the Heidelberg Retina Tomograph III-Rostock Cornea Module (HRT-III RCM) confocal microscope. ANOVA and Post-Hoc Bonferroni test were carried out to compare the results pre- and post-operation. RESULTS: ANOVA results indicated no post-operation changes for epithelium and anterior stroma cells. Irregular segments of sub-basal nerve fiber were most pronounced seven days post-operation. In the mid and posterior stroma, keratocytes were obvious compared with the preoperative condition. Corneal endothelium cells became obviously swollen in cytoplasm and nucleus. The mid and posterior stroma cell density decreased from the 1(st) to 7(th) postoperative days (P < 0.05). The corneal endothelium cell density decreased (P < 0.05) and did not revert to the preoperative level after six months (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Slight microstructural abnormalities were identified in the corneal recovery process after AquaLase liquefaction. AquaLase liquefaction cataract extraction is safe for cornea.

This paper reports recent studies of the rheological and viscoelastic properties of minerals at mantle pressure and temperature using Deformation multi-anvil apparatus(D-DIA).Stress-strain-time relations were measured using synchrotron X-ray radiation to determine these *** properties of San Carlos olivine were measured at pressure up to 10 GPa and indicated that the effect of pressure on the viscosity of olivine is much smaller than previous *** unique capability of synchrotron X-ray can resolve the stress heterogeneity within a polycrystalline material as well as within a multi-phase mixture and elucidate the stress-strain distribution in an *** measurements were carried out using olivine as the sample at mantle pressure and *** results showed that grain boundary activity rather than pressure dominate the relaxation *** aim of this paper is to illustrate the methods using new tools for high pressure research.

Dispersion of ultrafine alumina suspension is examined by using particle size analyzer. The zeta potential and contact angle measurements were used to discuss the electrokinetic behavior and surface wettability of alumina in modifier solution, and to calculate the electrostatic interaction forces and interfacial interaction forces between alumina particles. The aggregation of ultrafine alumina occurs near its PZC. Addition of modifier increases the zeta potential of alumina and its surface hydrophilicity, resulting in increase of electrostatic and hydration repulsion. It makes the suspension of ultrafine alumina completely dispersed. The average particle size of the suspension is decreased from 1.73 μm in absence of modifier to 0.8 μm in the presence of tripolyphosphate. According to polar interfacial interaction approach, the hydration forces responsible for the stability of alumina suspension in the presence of modifier have also been obtained. The extended DLVO theory is successful to describe the dispersion behavior of ultrafine alumina in modifier solution.
