Creep Characteristics of Crumb Rubber Modified Asphalt Binder

Crumb rubber modified asphalt containing 20 percent crumb rubber particles of 30 mesh has been examined by Scanning Electron Microscope （SEM） to observe the microcosmic appearance and the characteristic distribution of crumb rubber particles in asphalt. The SEM pictures reveal that the crumb rubber particles distribute evenly in the asphalt and they are compatible well with asphalt. The shear creep test of crumb rubber modified asphalt was carried out at -10 ℃ and 40 ℃ by Dynamic Shear Rheology （DSR）. The shearing deformation at different temperature and creep stiffness modulus curve at loading stage of crumb rubber modified asphalt have been measured. The stiffness modulus of crumb rubber modified asphalt is much temperature sensitive and it decays much quick at the early stage of loading than normal asphalt. The rate of decay of stiffness modulus is slow at the subsequent stage and stiffness modulus approaches to a stable value at the final stage at a higher temperature. In addition, Burgers model is suitable to describe and simulate experimental results of viscoelastic properties of the crumb rubber modified asphalt.

A facultative thermophilic alkaline desulphuricant strain named GDJ-3 was isolated from neutral soils,enriched on sulfur synthetic medium,and detected in previous *** and chemotax-onomic analyses and 16s RNA gene sequencing showed that the strain was in good agreement with Alpha proteobacterium sp.(97%) and ochrobactrum sp.(98%).The regenerative processes of the solu-tion containing sulfur compounds(SCS) from the strain through an orthogonal test were investigated to get the optimum regenerative *** results showed that regenerative temperature,air flow,and stirring speed of the agitator were the main three variables influencing the regenerative processes of the *** optimum regenerative efficiency of the SCS from the strain was obtained when tem-perature,air flow,and stirring speed of the agitator were 318.2 K,3.0 L/min,and zero r/min,*** this condition,when the cell concentration of the strain was adjusted to 107/mL,the concentra-tions of Na2S2O3 and Na2S in the SCS decreased from 112.68 g/L to 96.88 g/L and from 0.87 g/L to 0.11 g/L in 9.5 ***,XRD spectrum shows that sulfur was formed in the regeneration *** results suggest that the strain has potential application to the regeneration of the industrial so-lution containing sulfur compounds.

The plates with 20mm thickness of 7A52 aluminum alloy were welded by electron beam welding and TANDEM welding with ER5356 filler,*** microstructure and mechanical properties of the joints were *** results showed that the microstructure of EBW metal was finer and tighter than TANDEM *** heat-affected zone of the EBW joint was narrower,its hardness was higher and the tensile strength improved obviously compared to TANDEM *** quality control of the EBW joint was made without abnormal porosity,inclusions and ***,the EBW joint of 7A52 aluminum alloy showed excellent performance.

The micro free-piston swing engine （MFPSE） is a new structure, free-piston internal combustion engine. The dynamic model integrated MFPSE with a power generator and thermodynamic models in compression, power and scavenge processes based on the open thermodynamic systems were presented. A simulation was executed at given geometric parameters and initial conditions. The results manifest that the working principle of MFPSE is feasible.

Using the principle of minimal energy and S-W model,the exchange bias for ferromagnetic/antiferro-magnetic bilayers has been investigated when the uniaxial anisotropy is misaligned with the exchange anisotropy. According to the relation between the energy of the bilayer and the orientation of ferro-magnetic magnetization,it is found that the bilayer will be in the monostable state or bistable state when the external field is absent in the initial magnetization state. The monostable state or bistable state of the bilayer,which determines the angular dependence of exchange bias directly,is controlled by the competition between the exchange anisotropy and uniaxial anisotropy. When the applied field is parallel to the intrinsic easy axes and intrinsic hard axes,one of the switching fields of the hysteresis loop shows an abrupt change,while the other keep continuous by analyzing the magnetization reversal processes. Consequently,the exchange bias field and the coercivity will show a jump phenomenon. The numerical calculations indicate that both the magnitude and direction of the exchange anisotropy will significantly affect the angular dependence of exchange bias. The jump phenomenon of exchange bias is an intrinsic property of the bilayer,which is dependent on the interfacial exchange-coupling constant,the orientation of the exchange anisotropy,the thickness and uniaxial anisotropy constant of the ferromagnetic layer.

Corrosion of titanium in supercritical water oxidation environments

Supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) can effectively destroy many kinds of civilian and military wastes. The high temperature and high pressure SCWO operation conditions generate very corrosive environment that many engineering materials fail to withstand. Preliminary test shows that titanium may be a promising material in most of SCWO conditions. Commercially pure titanium is tested in four kinds of SCWO environments. Phenol, sodium dodecyl benzosulfonate, n amine phenol, and chlorpyrifos were chosen as typical target pollutants. The results show that titanium is only superficially attacked in the first three SCWO environments while in chlorpyrifos SCWO medium titanium is corroded. The corrosion is temperature dependent, with heavier corrosion occurring at near critical temperature. X ray diffraction analysis shows that the corrosion products consist of titanium oxy phosphates and titanium oxide, in which Ti 5O 4(PO 4) 4 is the main phase.

By introducing the distribution probability of structural units in austenite contain- ing alloying elements and considering its effects on phase transformation, this paper establishes a calculation model of distribution probability of structural units. A new valence electron structure (VES) parameter-transformation effect coefficient of alloying elements (HL), is defined and then studied both theoretically and ex- perimentally. The relationship between the parameter HL and the multiplying factor (the quenching capability factor) of alloying elements is studied. The results indi- cate that the two parameters (HL and the quenching capability factor) have the same variation characteristic and substance feature. Therefore, the multiplying factor virtually expresses the relative quantity of structural units in the alloying elements-containing austenite.

The complex variable method for the plane elasticity theory of icosahedral quasicrystals is developed. Based on the general solution obtained previously, complex representations of stress and displacement components of phonon and phason fields in the quasicrystals are given. With the help of conformal transformation, an analytic solution for the elliptic notch problem of the material is presented. The solution of the Griffith crack problem can be observed as a special case of the results. The stress intensity factor and energy release rate of the crack are also obtained.

The breakthrough curves of benzene and water on modified activated carbons（ACs） were ***-programmed desorption（TPD） experiments were conducted to measure the TPD curves of benzene and water on modified and unmodified ACs and to estimate the activation energy for the desorption of benzene on the modified *** with unmodified ACs,two modified ACs were prepared by using two different types of silane,designated by KH560 and *** results showed that the activation energy for the desorption of benzene on KH560/AC and 1706/AC was higher than that on unmodified *** addition,the activation energy for the desorption of water on KH560/AC and 1706/AC was lower than that on unmodified *** breakthrough curves of benzene obtained from the experimental observations under different humidity conditions were compared with the results of the TPD *** results show that the modified ACs are less affected by water,whereas the unmodified ACs are more affected by water,indicating that surface modification by organosilane compounds can improve the adsorption of benzene on the activated carbo,which weakens the adsorption of water.
