Ecologists have long focused on the coexistence of sympatric species. Here, we investigated two horseshoe bat species, Rhinolophus a nis and Rhinolophus pearsoni inhabited in the same cave, for their foraging strategies, niche di erentiation, prey selection, and their coexistence status. These two species of horseshoe bats were di erent in the dominant frequency of their echolocation calls, but similar in their morphology. We found evidence for prey selectivity although there was a high degree of overlap in prey categories and sizes. R. a nis and R. pearsoni foraged on 16 and 7 categories insects, respectively, with Pyralidae, Geometridae, Melolonthidae dominating their diets. The degree of trophic niche overlap was 0.69. Pairwise comparisons suggested that there was no obvious di erentiation in prey categories and size. However, high prey availability in the environment (Simpson diversity index = 0.79 and Margalef richness index = 4.12) contributed to their coexistence by dampening the interspeci c competition. Since there are one or more mechanisms facil- itating species coexistence in a community, our results suggest that the spatial niche di erentiation in foraging microhabitats and in for- aging habitats at landscape scale may promote the coexistence of the two bat species. However, additional eld data are needed to con rm this speculation.

The Bangong Lake ophiolite is located in the westernmost part of the Bangong Lake-Nujiang River suture zone. It is a tectonic mélange consisting of numerous individual blocks of peridotite, pillowed and massive lavas and mafic dykes with SSZ-type ophiolitic geochemical affinity formed at the end of a Wilson circle. The SHRIMP U-Pb ages of the co-magmatic zircon domains from one gabbroic dyke (Sample 01Y-155) range from 162.5±8.6 Ma to 177.1±1.4 Ma with an average of 167.0±1.4 Ma (n = 12, MSWD = 1.2), suggesting that the subduction of the Bangong Lake Neo-Tethyan Ocean started before the Middle Jurassic. It is inferred that the tectonic transform from spreading to subduction of the Neo-Tethyan Ocean began before the Middle Jurassic in the Bangong Lake area.

Using a 2.5-dimensional ideal MHD model in Cartesian coordinates, weinvestigate the equilibrium properties of coronal magnetic flux ropes in background magnetic fieldsthat are completely closed. The background fields are produced by a dipole, a quadrupole, and anoctapole, respectively, located below the photosphere at the same depth. A magnetic flux rope isthen launched from below the photosphere, and its magnetic properties, i.e., the annular magneticflux Φ_p and the axial magnetic flux Φ_z, are controlled by a single emergence parameter. Thewhole system eventually evolves into equilibrium, and the resultant flux rope is characterized bythree geometrical parameters: the height of the rope axis, the half-width of the rope, and thelength of the vertical current sheet below the rope. It is found that the geometrical parametersincrease monotonically and continuously with increasing Φ_p and Φ_z: no catastrophe ***, there exists a steep segment in the profiles of the geometrical parameters versus eitherΦ_p or Φ_z, and the faster the background field decays with height, the larger both the gradientand the growth amplitude within the steep segment will be.

Molar ratios of Mg/Ca and Sr/Ca were measured in two species of ostracod shells preserved in the upper core (15–55 m) of the Hequing Basin in Yunnan Province, southwest china. By correlating the molar ratios between Mg/Ca and Sr/Ca and comparing them with Sr concentrations of the sediments, we suggested that: (1) the molar Mg/Ca and Sr/Ca ratio variations in respective ostracod primo reflected the changes in its ambient water composition and ecology; (2) the molar Sr/Ca ratios responded better to the salinity change linearly than Mg/Ca without aragonite precipitation in the system, and otherwise there was no linear relation between them; and (3) the molar Sr/Ca ratios were mainly controlled by salinity and authigenic carbonate precipitation, whereas the molar Mg/Ca ratios were related to both salinity and temperature. In fact, the rate of ostracod growth owing to temperature controls the fluctuation of Mg/Ca in shells. Here, more attentions should be paid to the constraint of authigenic mineral precipitation processes on the trace elements in ostracod shells and to the correlation between these trace elements in biogenic carbonates and compositions of the sediments in systems and in future in vitro experiments.

A well-preserved pterosaur with nearly complete skull is described from the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation at Sihetun in western Liaoning. It is characterized by a low and long crestless skull, slender and pointed teeth, long metacarpal, nearly equal length of metatarsals I -III and short pedal digit V. It is referred to a new genus and species of the family Pterodactylidae: Haopterus gracilis gen. et sp. nov. This is the first pterosaur with a nearly complete skull from the Jehol Biota; it also represents the first non-controversial fossil record of Pterodactylidae in Asia. Haopterus is more derived than Pterodactylus from the Late Jurassic Solnhofen in Germany. This discovery extends the distribution of the family Pterodactylidae from Europe and Africa to Asia and its latest occurrence from the Late Jurassic to the Early Cretaceous. The discovery of Haopterus gracilis provides further evidence for the study of the originand radiation of the Jehol Biota; it also sheds new light on the evolution and

Previous studies have demonstrated the important role of taurine in inhibiting proliferation of myofibrob lasts（myoFb） and myocardial fibrosis. However, the underlying mechanisms are unclear. The present study was de signed to shed light on this issue through exploring the signal pathways via in vitro experiments. Angiotension II （AngII） treatment significantly increased myoFb proliferation and the levels of collagens I and III（P〈0.05）, whereas taurine, PKCα（PKC： protein kinase C） specific inhibitor L-threo-dihydro-sphingosine（D4681）, ERK1/2 inhibitor （PD98095） abrogated myoFb proliferation and collagen levels（P〈0.05, P〈0.01, respectively）, and increased the G0/G1 phase rate and decreased S phase rate. Immunocytochemistry, confocal fluorescence staining and image analy sis showed that taurine could inhibit the translocation and expression of p-PKCαin membrane, and then inhibit nuc lear translocation and expression of p-ERK1/2. These results have statistically significant differences compared with those of AngII group（P〈0.01）. Western blot results also show that taurine could inhibit the protein expression of p-PKCα and p-ERK1/2. We used p-PKCα specific inhibitor D4681 in order to elucidate the relationship between p-PKCα and p-ERK1/2 in signal transduction pathways. Finally, the results show that the protein expression of p-ERK1/2 and nuclear translocation were suppressed in D4681 group.

The aim of this work is to study the effect of Sr substitution on the redox properties and catalytic ac- tivity of La2-xSrxNiO4(x=0.0-1.2)for NO *** suggest that the x=0.6 sample shows the highest *** characterization(TPD,TPR,etc.)of samples indicates that the x=0.6 sample possesses suitable abilities in both oxidation and reduction,which facilitates the proceeding of oxygen desorption and NO *** temperature below 700℃,the oxygen desorption is difficult, and is the rate-determining step of NO *** the increase of reaction temperature(T> 700℃),the oxygen desorption is favorable and,the active adsorption of NO on the active site(NO+Vo+ Ni2+→NO^--Ni3+)turns out to be the rate-determining *** existence of oxygen vacancy is the prerequisite condition for NO decomposition,but its quantity does not relate much to the activity.
