Physical mechanisms of plant roots affecting weathering and leaching of loess soil

Plant roots have potential impacts on soil mineral weathering and *** objective is to understand the physical mechanisms of plant roots affecting weathering andleaching of loess soil. Root densities were measured through the method of a large-size dug profile,and transport fluxes of soil elements were determined using an undisturbed monolith soilinfiltration device on the hilly and gully regions of the chinese Loess Plateau. The results showthat the improvement effects of soil environment by plant roots are mainly controlled by the densityand weight of the fibrous roots with the diameters less than 1 mm. Plant roots have the strongereffects on soil physical properties than chemical properties. The principal components analysis(PCA) indicates that soil physical properties by plant roots account for 56.7% of variations in soilenvironment whereas soil chemical properties and pH contribute about 2..2. of the soil *** roles of plant roots in controlling soil weathering and leaching increased in the followingorder: infiltration enhancement > increase of bio-active substance > stabilization of soilstructure. The effects of plant roots on soil mineral weathering and leaching can be quantifiedusing the multiple regression models with the high prediction accuracies developed in this study.

Bruton’s tyrosine kinase inhibitors(BTKis)have revolutionized the treatment of B-cell ***,safety issues related to the use of BTKis may hinder treatment continuity and further affect clinical efficacy.A comprehensive and systematic expert consensus from a pharmacological perspective is lacking for safety issues associated with BTKi treatment.A multidisciplinary consensus working group was established,comprising 35 members from the fields of hematology,cardiovascular disease,cardio-oncology,clinical pharmacy,and evidencebased *** evidence-based expert consensus was formulated using an evidence-based approach and the Delphi *** Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal(JBI)tool and Grading of Recommendations Assessment,Development,and Evaluation(GRADE)approach were used to rate the quality of evidence and grade the strength of recommendations,*** consensus provides practical recommendations for BTKis medication based on nine aspects within three domains,including the management of common adverse drug events such as bleeding,cardiovascular events,and hematological toxicity,as well as the management of drug-drug interactions and guidance for special *** multidisciplinary expert consensus could contribute to promoting a multi-dimensional,comprehensive and standardized management of BTKis.

A subsurface runoff parameterization with water storage and recharge based on the Boussinesq-Storage Equation for a Land Surface Model

Subsurface runoff in a land surface model is usually parameterized as a single-valued function of total storage in a basin aquifer reservoir. This kind of parameterization is often sin-gle-valued function of storage-discharge under a steady or “quasi-steady” state, which cannot rep-resent the influence of aquifer recharge on subsurface runoff generation. In this paper, a new sub-surface runoff parameterization with water storage and recharge based on the Boussinesq-storage equation is developed. This model is validated by a subsurface flow separation algorithm for an ex-ample river basin, which shows that the new model can simulate the subsurface flow reasonably.

Gasdynamic characteristics of toroidal shock and detonation wave converging

The modified CCW relation is applied to analyzing the shock, detonation wave converging and the role of chemical reactions in the process. Results indicate that the shock wave is strengthened faster than the detonation wave in the converging at the same initial Mach number. Euler equations implemented with a detailed chemical reaction model are solved to simulate toroidal shock and detonation wave converging. Gasdynamic characteristics of the converging are investigated, including wave interaction patterns, observable discrepancies and physical phenomena behind them. By comparing wave diffractions, converging processes and pressure evolutions in the focusing area, the different effects of chemical reactions on diffracting and converging processes are discussed and the analytic conclusion is demonstrated through the observation of numerical simulations.

Volcanic rocks from the northern and middle Okinawa Trough were dated by ura- nium-series dating method. Differential fractions using magnetic procedure were designed to separate samples. New report on the ages and isotopic data of rocks in the northern trough (especially black pumice) was discussed. Based on the uranium dates and Sr-Nd isotopic ratio, magmatic evolution process of the Okinawa Trough was noted. Firstly, there have been wide silicic volcanic activities in the Okinawa Trough from late Pleistocene to present, and the volcanic rocks can be divided into three subgroups. Secondly, magma generally came from PREMA source area under the Okinawa Trough. Magmatic evolution in the northern trough was similar to the middle, but different to the south. Finally, volcanic activities indicated that opening of the southern Okinawa Trough did not happen due to the collision between Luson Arc and Eurasian Plate until the early Pleistocene.

Photodissociation/photoionization processes of chlorobromomethane induced by femtosecond laser pulses with pump-probe scheme

The photodissociation/photoionization processes of chlorobromomethane (CH_2.rCl) induced by fem- tosecond laser pulses have been investigated using pump-probe scheme combined with the time-of-flight mass spectra. The dominate photoproducts are observed at different delay time of the pump (400 nm) and probe (800 nm) pulses and the corresponding time-dependence of them is obtained. The results show that the decaying time of the molecule CH_2.rCl in the A-band is in the 100 fs. The decaying tendencies of the fragment ions (CH_2.l^+ and CH_2.r^+) and the parent ion (CH_2.rCl^+) are almost the same and the relative ratios of the yields of them keep constant during the delay time of 0 to 150 fs. These facts suggest that the fragment ions come from the fragmentation of the parent ions in excited electronic states. The probabilities to form CH_2.l^+ and CH_2.r^+ are obtained from the relative ratio of the ion intensity and are about 71.6% and 14.2., respectively.

TIME-IGGCAS model validation:Comparisons with empirical models and observations

The TIME-IGGCAS (Theoretical Ionospheric Model of the Earth in Institute of Ge- ology and Geophysics, chinese academy of sciences) has been developed re- cently on the basis of previous works. To test its validity, we have made compari- sons of model results with other typical empirical ionospheric models (IRI, NeQuick-ITUR, and TItheridge temperature models) and multi-observations (GPS, Ionosondes, Topex, DMSP, FORMOSAT, and CHAMP) in this paper. Several conclu- sions are obtained from our comparisons. The modeled electron density and elec- tron and ion temperatures are quantitatively in good agreement with those of em- pirical models and observations. TIME-IGGCAS can model the electron density variations versus several factors such as local time, latitude, and season very well and can reproduce most anomalistic features of ionosphere including equatorial anomaly, winter anomaly, and semiannual anomaly. These results imply a good base for the development of ionospheric data assimilation model in the future. TIME-IGGCAS underestimates electron temperature and overestimates ion tem- perature in comparison with either empirical models or observations. The model results have relatively large deviations near sunrise time and sunset time and at the low altitudes. These results give us a reference to improve the model and enhance its performance in the future.

Mitigation of lake eutrophication:Loosen nitrogen control and focus on phosphorus abatement

Traditionally,nitrogen control is generally considered an important component of reducing lake eutrophication and cyanobacteria ***,this viewpoint is refuted recently by researchers in China and North *** the present paper,the traditional viewpoint of nitrogen control is pointed out to lack a scientific basis:the N/P hypothesis is just a subjective assumption;bottle bioassay experiments fail to simulate the natural process of nitrogen *** multi-year comparative research in more than 40 Yangtze lakes indicates that phosphorus is the key factor determining phytoplankton growth regardless of nitrogen concentrations and that total phytoplankton biomass is determined by total phosphorus and not by total nitrogen *** results imply that,in the field,nitrogen control will not decrease phytoplankton *** finding is supported by a long-term whole-lake experiment from North *** outcomes can be generalized in terms that a reduction in nitrogen loading may not decrease the biomass of total phy-toplankton as it can stimulate blooms of nitrogen-fixing *** mitigate eutrophication,it is not nitrogen but phosphorus that should be reduced,unless nitrogen concentrations are too high to induce direct toxic impacts on human beings or other ***,details are provided on how to reduce controls on nitrogen and how to mitigate eutrophication.

An integrated decision method for prediction of tropical cyclone movement by using genetic algorithm

In this study an integrated decision method for the multi-prediction results of tropical cyclone movements by using genetic algorithm (GA) has been adopted. A genetic learning artifi- cial neural network (GLANN) as a learning mechanism for track prediction was developed through training with the huge samples of typhoon tracks from 1884 to 2.02. The prediction of typhoon motion is to consider how to suit the dynamic change of environment, where typhoon passed through. The neural network structure is described by GA. A fitness function for choice of GA is given to approach the maximum of fitness (the minimum of the errors). Parallel comparing analyses for prediction abilities of unusual typhoon tracks in recent years by GLANN with multi-forecast methods were conducted. More types of cases were employed in the comparing analyses, which consist of the typhoon, Winnie, No.11, in 1997, characterized by a long life over the ocean and in the mainland with severe effect on China, the 10 unusual typhoon tracks in the 1990s, the tracks with landfall and affected action in 1998 and the typhoons born in the Northwestern Pacific and the South China Sea in 2.00, including the 2.—48 h forecast, etc. The results indicated that for prediction ability of typhoon tracks, specially for unusual typhoons, GA decision-making developed in this study is superior to the others.
