Re-Os age for molybdenite from the Gangdese porphyry copper belt on Tibetan plateau: Implication for geody- namic setting and duration of the Cu mineralization

The Gangdese porphyry copper belt consists of one large and five middle-small deposits in addition to dozens of ore-bearing porphyry bodies. The belt trends 350 km long along the EW-striking Gangdese batholith, and locally occurs as a string of beads extending about 50 km within the SN-trending rifting zones (grabens) on the Tibetan plateau. Monzonitic granite- porphyry and quartz monzonitic porphyry, as dominant host rocks, are shoshonitic and potassic calc-alkaline. Available dating data indicate that the ages of the shallow-level emplacement for these porphyries vary from 1. Ma to 1. Ma, which are identical to that of associated potassic calc-alkaline volcanic rocks (1.—1. Ma) and mafic dykes (1.—1. Ma). The timing and duration of Cu mineralization events are constrained by Re-Os ages for molybdenites from three porphyry copper deposits in the Gangdese porphyry copper belt. Five molybdenite samples from the Nanmu deposit yielded an 1.7Re-1.7Os isochron with a highly pre-cise age of (1..76?.2.) Ma; six molybdenites from the Chongjiang deposit gave an isochron age of (1..04?.1.) Ma. Re-Os model ages for two molybdenite samples from Lakang抏 deposit vary from 1..5 Ma to 1..6 Ma, which are basically identical to isochron ages mentioned above. All the thirteen samples from these three deposits yielded a linear array in the isochron diagram with a higher correlation coefficient of 0.9971. and an isochron age of (1..39?.2.) Ma (1. error), suggesting an coeval event of the Cu mineralization and a shared source of ore materials for the Gangdese porphyry copper belt. Compared with the longer-lived felsic magmatic-hydrothermal system, the Cu mineralization is a relatively short event with duration of about 0.5 Ma, and usu-ally occurs in the later-stage of the complicate magmatic system. The emplacement age of the Gangdese porphyries indicates that they intruded after the rapid rising of the Gangdese Mountains at 2.—2. Ma, and formed in a post-collision crustal ex-tension env

On the basis of mineral assemblage, mineralogy, petrology, and major, trace ele-mental and isotopic geochemistry of the underplated granulite- and eclogite-facies accumulate, peridotite and pyroxenite xenoliths entrained in Hannuoba Cenozoic basalts, this work con-strained the petrological constituents for the crust-mantle transitional zone, which is supported by the results of high-temperature and pressure velocity experiments on rocks and geophysics deep survey. Present lower part of lower crust is mainly composed of granulite-facies mafic accumu-lates (dominantly plagioclase websterite) and crust-mantle transitional zone dominantly com-posed of eclogite-facies pyroxenites with or without garnet and spinel lherzolites; Archaean ter-rain granulite is only nominally early lower crust. Magma underplating in the crust-mantle boundary led to the crustal vertical accretion and the formation of the crust-mantle transitional zone, which is a significant mechanism for the chemical adjustment of the crust-mantle boundary since the Phanerozoic.

Re-Os isotopic dating for the molybdenites from the porphyry copper deposits of the Jinshajiang-Red River mineralization belt in Yunnan Province yields isochron ages of 33.9±1.1.Ma for the Machangqing deposit and 34.4±0.5 Ma for the Tongchang deposit. This result shows that both the Machangqing and the Tongchang porphyry Cu-Mo deposits from two different ore-fields formed simultaneously. This new data and the published Re-Os model ages of molybdenite (35.4 Ma, 35.9 Ma, 36.2.Ma) of the Yulong porphyry copper deposit in Tibet, which is located in the same Jinshajiang-Red River mineralization belt as the Machangqing deposit and the Tongchang deposit, suggest that these three Cenozoic porphyry copper deposits in the Jinshajiang-Red River mineralization belt were contemporary for their mineralization episode. That is to say, even their present locality is far away and nearly iso-distantly distributed, these three porphyry Cu(Mo) deposits belong to the same mineralization episode at the end of Eocene.

THE Zijinshan-Bitian Cu-Au-Mo orefield is spread to north of the Shanghang County, SW *** geological structure it is located at the plunging end of NE-trending Xuanhe anticlinorium, in the NE rim ofthe NW trending Shanghang volcano-sedimentary basin. Orefield basement is composed of the Archean-Middle Proterozoic low-grade metamorphic rock formations, containing marine basic metavolcanic sequenses. Lower Cretaceous subaerial volcanic rocks of andesite-trachy andesite-rhyolite composition fill inthe volcano-sedimentary basin. Pre-mineralization granitic batholith dated 1.5Ma（Rb-Sr）and 1.7Ma（U-Pb） occupies the axial part of the plunging anticlinorium, which was regarded as crust-remelting typegranitoids. Minerals of spinel- and garnet-facies mantle xenoliths entrained in Cenozoicbasalts from eastern china (North china, Northeastern china and Southeastern china coastal area)contains lots of melt inclusions. Studies on these melt inclusions show that the glass inclusionsare rich in SiO_2.(60%—68%) and alkalis (K_2.+Na_2. = 5%—1.%, especially for K_2.) as well asvolatiles such as H_2. and CO_2.(2.—7%), which belong to dacites and andesites of the high-K calcicalkali series rocks with few shoshonites. High Al and Ca diopside in melt inclusion is the productof melt crystallization at high temperature and pressure, rather than the product ofdevitrification. Results show that these K-rich (in general K_2. > 3%) intermediate-acidic silicatemelt inclusions have characteristics of continent without a genetical link to host basalts and theirphenocrystic minerals. Thus, these trapped melt inclusions represent melts of Mesozoic lithosphericmantle-crust interaction and imply that the continental lithospheric mantle beneath eastern chinahad undergone fragmentation and recreation processes during the Mesozoic and Cenozoic periods. Thisresult undoubtly provides important implication for the evolution of sub-continental lithospherebeneath eastern china. We propose that these Si- and alkalis-rich melts should be responsible forthe mantle chemical heterogeneity underneath eastern china.

Setting up the hypostratotype of late Precambrian is the main aim of the research on the Meso-and Neoproterozoic in North *** chronostratigraphic position is the key in this study. The d 1.C values of Lower Cretaceous Aptian-Albian platform-type carbonates in the Cuoqin Basin, North Tibet vary between 2.48 and 5.46. The mean value is 3.93. The values are not only provided with positive excursion, but also 1.1. higher than those of con-temporaneous pelagic carbonates which possess pretty high d 1.C values. The origin is ap-proached. During the oceanic anoxic events, a great number of organisms were rapidly buried, causing the increase of the d 1.C value of oceanic total dissolved carbon (TDC) and generally promoting the values of marine carbonates. After that, owing to the organisms undergoing dif-ferent isotopic fractionation in the paleo-ocean with stratified structure, d 1.C values of shallow sea carbonate were obviously higher than those of pelagic carbonates.

Mianning-Dechang Himalayan REE Metallogenetic Belt in Sichuan Province lies along the western margin of the Yangtze Craton. We have conducted detailed mineralogical studies on ore minerals collected from Maoniuping and Dalucao, the two largest deposits in the belt. With optical microscope, SEM/EDS, and EPMA, three rare intermetallic minerals, i.e., zinccopperite (Cu2.n), Sn- bearing native copper, and Cu-bearing jupiter were found to occur in the main ore along with barite, fluorite, apatite, sulfide and bastnaesite. Since the conditions under which zinccopperite and Sn- bearing native copper formed are quite unique, finding of these minerals, for the first time in domestic REE deposits, has significant implications for the genesis of the ore deposits in which they occur. In comparison with Cu-Zn intermetallic minerals in other occurrences, we propose that the formation of this REE metallogenetic belt is associated with fast upwelling of the Himalayan magma from deep source.
