The endocrinologic and metabolic abnormalities of women with polycystic ovary syndrome （PCOS） can result in a series of endometrial diseases. Abnormalities of hyperandrogenism and hyperinsulinemia that may be found in PCOS can elevate the levels of E2.indirectly, reduce progesterone secretion and induce some growth factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） and insulin-like growth factors （IGFs） over expression, which may have a major impact on endometriosis occurrence and development. We suppose that there is a possible connection between PCOS and endometriosis.

Purpose: To evaluate intraobserver and interobserver reproducibility of real time measurement of iris morphology in living human ***: Base on the platform of software (Autocad, version 12., we developed an ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) image asisstant measuring system. By using the system, we can perform the iris configuration quantitative measurement in living eyes. The measuring parameters including: iris rest length,radius of iris curvature,and the thickness in different parts of iris. Ten anterior segment images of one normal individual were obtained by a single operator to evaluate the intraobserver reproducibility of image capture, and ten times measurement of one image were performed by a single operator to assess the reproducibilityof image measurement. The measurement of three independent observers were compared to investigate interobserver reproducibility in quantitative measurement. A new Paphiopedilum entity found in southern Guangdong was studied taxonomically by means of internal transcribed spacer of nuclear ribosomal DNA analysis in addition to morphological and phytogeographical *** entity is similar to Paphiopedilum gratrixianum(Masters)Rolfe morphologically,from which it differs by having narrower leaves not wider than 2.cm and lacking purple spots toward abaxial base,pale green dorsal sepal veined with pale purplish brown and not heavily spotted with purple,and staminode subtruncate and mucronate at *** analysis of internal transcribed spacer sequences of this entity and its allies came to the same conclusion that the entity is a member of Paphiopedilum section Paphiopedilum and closely related to but distinct from *** a result,it is treated here as a new species,Paphiopedilum guangdongense ***&***.

BACKGROUND:Liver enriched natural killer (NK) cells are of high immune ***,the function of donor liver NK cells in allogeneic liver transplantation (LTx) remains ***:Ten Gy of whole body gamma-irradiation (WBI) from a 60 Co source at 0.6 Gy/min was used for depleting donorderived leukocytes,and transfusion of purified liver NK cells isolated from the same type rat as donor (donor type liver NK cells,dtl NKs) through portal vein was performed immediately after grafting the irradiated ***-transplant survival observation on recipients and histopathological detection of liver grafts were adoptive to evaluate the biological impact of donor liver NK cells on recipients’ survival in rat ***:Transfusion of dtl NKs did not shorten the survival time among the recipients of spontaneous tolerance model (BN to LEW rat) after rat LTx,but prolonged the liver graft survival among the recipients depleted of donor-derived leukocytes in the acute rejection model (LEW to BN rat).Compared to the recipients in the groups which received the graft depleted of donor-derived leukocytes,better survival and less damage in the allografts were also found among the recipients in the two different strain combinations of liver allograft due to transfusion of dtl ***:Donor liver NK cells alone do not exacerbate liver allograft acute ***,they can alleviate it,and improve the recipients’ survival.

The movement of Typhoon Maggie (9903) in June 1999 is one of the rare cases ever seen in the history. At 00U on June 6 Maggie was located at about 70 km to the southwest of Taiwan. When it arrived at the coastal region of Shanwei City (2..8N, 116.5E), it turned suddenly to move southwestward along the southern china coastal line. De June 7 Maggie finally turned to move northward, making landfall to the north of Shangchuan Island. The experimental numerical prediction system on typhoon movement that was designed based on MM5 is proved quite successful for the 48h prediction of Maggie's movement and rainfall. The mean prediction error of typhoon track is 81 km for 0-2. h and 74 km for 2.-48 h. The location of typhoon center in the initial field of the model is approximately 100 km away from the actual observations. In order to modify the location of typhoon center, a bogus typhoon was intro- duced into the model and the prediction of typhoon track was improved in 0-2. h time interval. But the prediction error was enlarged in 2.-36 h. We also performed a sensitivity experiment of changing the land of southern china into the ocean. It is found that the orientation of South china coastal line and the topography have no obvious effect on the movement of Typhoon Maggie.

Aim:To investigate the apoptosis-inducing effect of oridonin,a diterpenoid iso-lated from Rabdosia rubescens,in the human cervical carcinoma HeLa cell ***:A morphological analysis,nuclear condensation,and fragmentation ofchromatin were monitored using Hoechst 33342.*** viability was as-sessed using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-(2.-yl)-2.5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide(MTT) *** apoptosis and the apoptosis-related activation in the HeLa cellline were evaluated by flow cytometry and Western ***:Oridoninsuppressed the proliferation of the HeLa cell line in a dose-and *** treatment downregulated the activation of protein kinase B(Akt),the expression of forkhead box class O (FOXO) transcription factor,andglycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK3).Oridonin also induced the release of cyto-chrome c accompanied by the activation of caspase-3 and poly-adenosine diphos-phate-ribose polymerase *** addition,Z-D(OMe)-E(OMe)-V-D(OMe)-FMK (z-DEVD-fmk),an inhibitor of caspases,prevented caspase-3 activation andabrogated oridonin-induced cell ***,oridonin treatment of the HeLa cellline downregulated the expression of the inhibitor of the apoptosis ***:Our results showed that oridonin-induced apoptosis involved sev-eral molecular *** may suppress constitutively activated targetsof phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (Akt,FOXO,and GSK3) in the HeLa cell line,inhibiting the proliferation and induction of caspase-dependent apoptosis.

Mesozoic subduction-accretion zone in northeastern South china Sea inferred from geophysical interpretations

A segment of Mesozoic subduction-accretion zone was inferred across thenortheastern South china Sea at approximately NE450 orientation. Basic evidence includes thefollowing: A belt of peek gross horizontal Bouguer gravity gradient (PGHGBA) is comparable in sizeand intensity to that of the Manila subduction-accretion zone. A belt of high positive magneticanomalies appears to the north and sub-parallel to the PGHGBA, representing the volcanic arcassociated to the subduction zone. The PGHGBA crosses obliquely both Cenozoic structures and presentseafloor topography, indicating a pre-Cenozoic age. The segment is offset left-laterally byNW-running strike-slip faults, in concord with the Mesozoic stress field of South china. Inaddition, the existence of the subduction zone is supported by wide-angle seismic data obtained indifferent years by different institutions. At approximate localities, a north-dipping ramp of Mohosurface is indicated by records of ocean-bottom seismometers, and a strong reflector about 8 kmbeneath the Moho reflector is indicated by both OBS and long-cable seismic records. Theidentification of a segment of Mesozoic subduction zone in NE South china Sea fills nicely the gapof the Great Late Mesozoic Circum SE Asia Subduction-acrretion Zone, which extended from Sumatra,Java, SE Kalimantan to N Palawan, and from Taiwan, Ryukyu to SW Japan.
