Impact of EnKF assimilating Himawari-8 all-sky infrared radiance on the forecasting of a warm-sector rainstorm event

Warm-sector rainstorms are highly localized events, with weather systems and triggering mechanisms are not obvious,leading to limited forecasting capabilities in numerical models. Based on the ensemble Kalman filter(PSU-En KF) assimilation system and the regional mesoscale model WRF, this study conducted a simulation experiment assimilating all-sky infrared(IR)radiance for a warm-sector rainstorm in East china and investigated the positive impact of assimilating the Himawari-8 moisture channel all-sky IR radiance on the forecast of the rainstorm. results indicate that hourly cycling assimilation of all-sky IR radiance can significantly improve the forecast accuracy of this warm-sector rainstorm. There is a notable increase in the Threat Score(TS), with the simulated location and intensity of the 3-hour precipitation aligning more closely with observations. These improvements result from the assimilation of cloud-affected radiance, which introduces more mesoscale convective information into the model's initial fields. The adjustments include enhancements to the moisture field, such as increased humidity and moisture transport, and modifications to the wind field, including the intrusion of mid-level cold air and the strengthening of lowlevel convergent shear. These factors are critical in improving the forecast of this warm-sector rainstorm event.

A group of 2.6,10,15,19-pentamethyli- cosenes (PMIΔ) containing 1―5 unsaturated double bonds has been identified in the sea floor sediments from the Gulf of Mexico at the Green Canyon 2.8 *** PMIΔ compounds are distributed between nC2. and nC2. on the mass chromatogram of aliphatic fraction. Their δ 13C values are very much depleted in 13C and in the range of ?86.7‰ to ?115.5‰, whereas the δ 13C values of companion n-alkanes range from ?2..4‰ to ?34.6‰. These unsaturated PMIΔ com-pounds are typical biomarkers derived from the an-aerobic oxidation of methane mediated by meth-ane-oxidizing archaeal bacteria and indicative of the gas seeps or even the occurrence of gas hydrates in the deep sea sediments.

Discovery of seep carbonate nodules as new evidence for gas venting on the northern continental slope of South china Sea

Seep carbonate nodules were firstlycollected from the southwestern Dongsha area onnorthern continental slope of South china Sea formineralogical and geochemical studies. The resultsof X-ray diffraction show that carbonate nodules arecomposed of Fe-rich domolite,siderite and a few cal-cite and aragonite, as well as a small quantity ofnon-carbonate minerals such as goethite, quartz andclay minerals. Fe-rich dolomite and siderite charac-terized by euhedral microcrystalline structure weredirectly precipitated at cold seeps. The δ 13C valuesfor Fe-rich dolomite and siderite in the bulk nodulesvary from ?18.2.‰ to ?36.07‰, and the δ 18O valuesrange from 0.42.to 2.76‰. Their moderate depleted13C reflects that carbon origin is possibly thermoge- netic gas or mixed gas, which is evidence of gasventings in the seafloor. Moreover, massive wormtube fossils related to cold seeps were found on thesurfaces of carbonate nodules, and the conduitsand/or channels in semi-solidified nodules whichwere not filled by carbonate or sediment were alsoobserved. A preliminary conclusion is that activemicro gas venting with a conduit/channel diameterrange from 2.0 μm to 600 μm possibly exists inmodern seafloor of the carbonate nodule area.

The Wangjiazhuang Cu(-Mo)deposit,located within the Zouping volcanic basin in western Shandong Province,china,is unique in this area for having an economic *** order to expound the metallogenetic characteristics of this porphyry-like hydrothermal deposit,a detailed fluid inclusion study has been conducted,employing the techniques of representative sampling,fluid inclusion petrography,microthermometry,Raman spectroscopy,LA-ICP-MS analysis of single fluid inclusions,as well as cathode fluorescence spectrometer analysis of host mineral *** deposit contains mainly two types of orebodies,***-dissemination-stockwork orebodies in the K-Si alteration zone and pegmatiticquartz sulfide veins above *** addition,minor breccia ore occurs *** types of fluid inclusions in the deposit and altered quartz monzonite are identified:L-type one-or two-phase aqueous inclusions,V-type vapor-rich inclusions with V/L ratios greater than 50%-90%,D-type multiphase fluid inclusions containing daughter minerals or solids and S-type silicate-bearing fluid inclusions containing mainly muscovite and *** petrography and fluid inclusion study has revealed a three-stage mineralization process,driven by magmatic-hydrothermal fluid activity,as ***,a hydrothermal fluid,separated from the parent magma,infiltrated into the quartz monzonite,resulting in its extensive K-Si alteration,as indicated by silicate-bearing fluid inclusions trapped in altered quartz *** is followed by the early mineralization,the formation of quartz veinlets and dissemination-stockwork *** the main mineralization stage,due to the participation and mixing of meteoric groundwater with magmatic-sourced hydrothermal fluid,the cooling and phase separation caused deposition of metals from the hydrothermal *** a result,the pegmatitic-quartz sulfide-vein ores *** the late mineralization stage,decreasing fluid salinity led to the formation of L-type aqueous

Analytical method of radiation by a wave energy device with dual rectangular floating bodies

The system with one floating rectangular body on the free surface and one submerged rectangular body has been applied to a wave energy conversion device in water of finite depth. The radiation problem by this device on a plane incident wave is solved by the use of an eigenfunction expansion method, and a new analytical expression for the radiation velocity potential is obtained. The wave excitation force is calculated via the known incident wave potential and the radiation potential with a theorem of Haskind employed. To verify the correctness of this method, an example is computed respectively through the bound element method and analytical method. results show that two numerical methods. are in good agreement, which shows that the present method is applicable. In addition, the trends of hydrodynamic coefficients and wave force are analyzed under different conditions by use of the present analytical method.

This conference report summarizes recent progress in plasma theory and simulation that was presented in contributed papers and discussions at the 11th Conference on Magnetic Confined Fusion Theory and Simulation(CMCFTS)held in Chengdu,china,2.–30 October,*** in various fields has been *** example,results on zonal flow generation by mode coupling,simulations of the key physics of divertor detachment,energetic particle effects on magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)modes in addition to ion-and electron-scale turbulence,physics of edge coherent modes and edge-localized modes,and the optimization of ion heating schemes as well as confinement scenarios using advanced integrated modeling are presented at the *** this conference,the scientific research groups were organized into six categories:(a)edge and divertor physics;(b)impurity,heating,and current drive;(c)energetic particle physics;(d)turbulent transport;(e)MHD instability;and(f)integrated modeling and code development.A summary of the highlighted progress in these working groups is presented.

gas hydrate fast nucleation from melting ice and quiescent growth along vertical heat transfer tube

During the observation of HCFC141b gas hydrate growth processes outside a ver- tical heat transfer tube, two exciting phenomena were found: fast nucleation of gas hydrate from melting ice, and the spontaneous permeation of water into the guest phases along the surface of heat transfer tube to form gas hydrate continuously. These two phenomena were explained with Zhou & Sloan’s hypothesis and the theory of surface free energy respectively, and a novel method of gas hydrate formation was presented——gas hydrate fast nucleation from melting ice and quiescent growth along heat transfer tube. There is no mechanic stirring in this method, the formed gas hydrates are compact, the ratio of unreacted interstitial water is little, which overcome the drawback of high energy cost and high ratio of unreacted interstitial water among the formed gas hydrates in the system with mechanic stirring. This finding will benefit the gas hydrate ap- plication technologies such as natural gas storage technology or cool storage technology with gas hydrate.

refrigerant gas hydrates have brilliant prospects as cool storage material of air-conditioning system. In this paper, when the ratio of the weight of HFC-134a to that of water is 2. 17%, systematic experiments have been carried out on the formation process of the HFC-134a gas hydrate including of the phase equilibrium, the influence of supercooling degree, and the influence of agitation. The results indicate that the critical decomposition temperature and the critical decomposition pressure of R134a hydrate is 2.3.4K and 414K respectively, the formation of gas hydrate was promoted with increasing the supercooling degree and the agitation. However, it is desired that the supercooling degree is ***, it is important problem that the study of optimum of supercooling degree for cool storage system.

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease triggered by genetic, environment or other risk factors such as infection, drugs, stress, moisture, alcohol, and smoking. A major psoriasis susceptibility locus at 6p2..3 has been identified. Further studies found that HLA-DQA1*02.1 allele was associated with psoriasis. However, there were few data exploring an association between the environmental factors and susceptibility genes. In this study, the samples of 189 patients with psoriasis and 333 healthy controls were collected with their consent and were carried on analysis through polymerase chain reaction sequence-specific primer (PCR- SSP) method. The proportion of male psoriasis patients engaging in the smoking and alcohol was much higher than that of the control group (P2.1 allele was present at significantly higher frequency in the patients with psoriasis (OR=4.2., P2.1 in male patients with psoriasis (OR>6.91, P<1.0×10–4).
