We present a study of the origin of infrared (IR) emission in the opticallynormal, infrared luminous galaxy NGC 4418. By decomposing the stellar absorption features andcontinua in the range of 3600-8000 A from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey into a set of simple stellarpopulations, we derive the stellar properties for the nuclear region of NGC 4418. We compare theobserved infrared luminosity with the one derived from the starburst model, and find thatstar-forming activity contributes only 7% to the total IR emission, that as the IR emission regionis spatially very compact, the most possible source for the greater part of the IR emission is adeeply embedded AGN, though an AGN component is found to be unnecessary for fitting the opticalspectrum.

The crystal structure of a new mineral of the stibnite group, Sb-2.e-3, has been determined. The cell constants, obtained by least-squares calculation from direct θ -value’s measurements on the diffractometer are: a =1.158 8(5), b =1.174 4(4), c =0.395 5(2. nm; orthorhombic; V =0.538 2. nm+3; Z =4. The space group is Pbnm. X-ray single crystal data, using Mo K α radiation, were measured on a RIGAKU RASA-5RP automated diffractometer and refined to a final R index of 0.048 1. Sb-2.e-3 is isostructural with Sb-2.-3 and Bi-2.-3. Each Sb(1) atom is six-coordinated by 3 Se(1), 1 Se(2. and 2.Se(3) atoms at distances 0.2.6 0-0.32. 6 nm. Each Sb(2. atom is seven-coordinated by 2.Se(1), 2.Se(2. and 3 Se(3) atoms at distances of 0.2.8 1- 0.346 7 nm. The crystal structure consists of chains parallel to c or needle axis. The strongest bonds (shortest separations) are within the chains. Many important physical properties of antimonselite (optical, ferroelectric, etc.) are related to its crystal structure.

The incoherent control of finite-level quantum systems is investigated. Following a brief introduction to coherent control paradigms in quantum control, a control problem that can not be accomplished using only coherent control is presented. For such a control problem, it is proved that it can be accomplished using incoherent control based on projective measurement and coherent control for two classes of finite-level quantum systems, i.e., eigenstate controllable quantum systems and wavefunction controllable quantum systems.

Correlation between urban Land Change Process and Socioeconomic Development since the 1980s in Jiangsu Province

Studying the process and characteristics of urban land change in different phases of urbanization and different economic development is much important for understanding urban land change and management at a macro level. Taking the example of Jiangsu Province, the present paper studied the correlation between urban land change process and socioeconomic development from 1981 to 2.03 on the basis of statistical data. The results showed the following three aspects. First, urban land area has changed periodically and the research duration can be divided into two periods: from 1981 to 1994 and from 1995 to 2.03. In each period, the changing trend is the same, i.e. slow at first and then quick. Studying from the comprehensive change status, the characteristic of fluctuant change is significant with three acute change pinnacles in 1988, 1991 and 2.02.which were corresponded to turning point years of economic development phases of Jiangsu Province respectively. Second, the synchronization between urban land change and urbanization level change is not strict. With the evolution of urbanization phases, the change pace of urbanization level increased remarkably, but urban land change rate did not increase significantly accordingly. Third, the area of urban land has exponentially increased with the increase of per capita GDP. In different economic development levels classified by per capital GDP, land resource cost for economic development is different, respectively 2..01 hm2. 2..34 hm2. 2..2. hm2. and 11.14 hm2.for the increase of 100 million RMB GDP when the per capita GDP is under 1000, 1000–2.00, 2.00–5000 and over 5000 RMB.

FROM 1994-07-16 to 1994-07-2., 2. fragments of comet SL 9 impacted against Jupiter in succession. During the impact period the impact of fragments D, E, K, N, P2.and S was observed in china. We used a 1.56-m telescope with the CCD camera of Shanghai Observatory to monitor Jupiter and its Galilean Satellites, obtaining 1000 high-quality images at B, V, I wave bands. Our data on optical wave bands are rather complete and valuable in the world. Specially, we got some images of Jupiter, Io and Europa in the impact time of fragment P2.impacting against Jupiter. This will help us understand the precise time, position, depth and energy of the P2.s collision. In this note, we report the impact time of fragment P2.of comet SL 9 and Jupiter. Since the impact of comet SL 9 was expected to take place on the side of Jupiter

Previous studies had evaluated acritarchs from the Balang and Pingzhai sections of the Early-Middle Cambrian Kaili Formation in east Guizhou,*** results of these studies suggest that the acritarchs in these sections have potential biostratigraphic *** recently,34 samples collected from 83 m lower part of the Lower-Middle Cambrian Kaili Formation in the Jianshan section of Chuandong,Guizhou Province were prepared for palynological *** of these samples revealed a distinct change in the acritarch assemblages at the bed,which was approximately 46 m above the bottom of the Kaili *** findings suggest a boundary represented by an important alteration of the ecological *** addition,the position of the acritarch biostratigraphic change is somewhat higher than the boundary between Cambrian Series 2.and Series 3 based on trilobites found in the same *** indicates that the distinct change in acritarch assemblages is similar to the change in trilobite assemblages that occurs around the boundary between Cambrian Series 2.and Series ***,acritarch biostratigraphy can provide data that can be used to define the base of Cambrian Series 3 in this region,and possibly worldwide.

Pyrrhotite is one of the common ore minerals in Cu-Ni sulphide deposits, but only monoclinic pyrrhotite is ferromagnetic at room temperature. X-ray and EPA analyses reveal that most pyrrhotite forming sideronitic texture in the Hongqiling Cu-Ni sulphide deposit is monoclinic, but that in the massive ore is a mixture of monoclinic and hexagonal pyrrhotites. Differential thermal and magnetic- thermogravimetric analyses of massive ore indicate a magnetic transition and heat absorption at 32.℃, suggesting that this temperature is the thermomagnetic and phase transition point of pyrrhotite. For massive pyrrhotite ores heated at 400oC for 30 h and then quenched by cool water, the monoclinic pyrrhotite (mpo) transforms completely into the hexagonal pyrrhotite (hpo). However, all the pyrrhotites resulting from slow cooling of the sample in air are mpo. These results indicate that transformation between hpo and mpo depends upon the cooling rate. Therefore, massive ores in this deposit might have been formed via rapid cooling of ore melts. On the other hand, it is significant to study the effect of the ratio of the magnetite in total ores on the genesis of magmatic Cu-Ni suphide deposits.

Aminohalogenation reaction of β-nitrostyrenes with N-halosuccinimides(N-chloro and N-bromosuccinimides) has been successfully conducted by using nickel acetate as a catalyst in the presence of potassium carbonate and succinimide as *** reaction was easily performed at room temperature under nitrogen gas protection to give dihalorinaed haloamino products in good to excellent yields(60%-98%).The structure has been confirmed by X-ray crystal structure analysis.

Strongly peraluminous granites of Mesozoic in Eastern Nanling Range, southern china: Petrogenesis and implications for tectonics

The strongly peraluminous granites (SPGs) of Eastern Nanling Range (ENR) are a characteristic of all bearing highly aluminous minerals, such as muscovite±AI-rich biotite± tourmaline±garnet, and lack of cordierite. In respect of petrography, geochemistry, Nd isotope, and single grain zircon U-Pb dating, the representative granite bodies of them are studied. The research shows that these granites were emplaced in two stages, namely 2.8-2.5 Ma BP and J2.3 159-156 Ma BP, belonging to Indosinian and early Yanshanian periods, respectively, and they have low εNd(t) values (-10.6--11.1), high A/CNK, Rb/Sr ratios and tDM values (1887-1817 Ma), and REE's tetrad effect (TE1,3=1.13-1.34). In comparison with related geology, petrology and chronology of granites in adjacent regions, it is suggested that Indosinian SPGs of ENR formed in the circumstance of post-collisional extension 2. Ma after the major collision of Indosinian Movement (2.8-2.3 Ma BP) in Indo-china Peninsula, and early Yanshanian SPGs formed in the background of back-arc extension setting controlled by paleo-Pacific tectonic domain, and J1, the interval of two stages, is the interim from Tethyan to Pacific tectonic domains in South china. These SPGs have similar geological and geochemical characteristics, because they all crystallized from the magma of partial melting of early Proterozoic metasedimentary rocks when the thickened crust (≤50 km) became thinning, decompression, and transmitting of water.
