Large second-order optical nonlinearities of s-triazine derivatives: View from micro molecules to macro crystals

Three s-triazine derivatives have been synthesized and their structures been de-termined. These are Compound I: 2.4-dimethyl-6-(p-N,N-dimethylaminostyryl)-s-triazine (abbre-viated to NMe-1., Compound II: 2.4-dimethyl-6-(p-N,N-diethylaminostyryl)-s-triazine (to NEt-1., and Compound III: 2.methyl-4,6-bis(p-N,N-dimethylaminostyryl)-s-triazine (NMe-2.. NMe-1.and NEt-1.molecules belong to the D-π-A type with a one-dimensional charge-transfer character. NMe-1.crystallizes to centrosymmetric P1.space group, while NEt-1.to non-centrosymmetric polar Cc space group with all of the molecular charge-transfer axes taking the same orientation. Under the irradiation of 1.64 nm fundamental laser, NEt-1.powder crystals radiate a 2.order harmonic light with an intensity 46.8 times that of urea. The Λ typed NMe-2.molecule, which has a two-dimensional charge-transfer character, crystallizes to polar P2. space group. Its powder crystals exhibit a 2.order harmonic intensity 46.2.times that of urea. The quantum chemical cal-culations and tensor analyses have been carried out to reveal the dependence of the macro 2.order nonlinear optical (NLO) efficiency on the micro 2.order NLO coefficients (β) and on the crystalline packing styles.

The palaeochannel evolution in the study region is divided into four stages by such methods as 1.C dating. Sea water intrusion through palaeochannels has been studied as a focal point. Palaeochannels are the main passageways through which the sea water intrudes at a higher speed, through many means and in a changeable dynamic state.

Development of simple sequence repeats (SSR) markers of ramie and comparison of SSR and inter-SSR marker systems

Ramie (Boehmeria nivea L.) is an important bast fiber crop. To study genetic background of this species, we isolated and characterized microsatellite markers of ramie. A genomic library containing inserts of rapid amplification of polymorphic DNA (RAPD) fragments was constructed, and screened by PCR amplification using anchored simple sequence repeats as primers. A total of 2. clones were identified as positives, and 1. microsatellite loci were found after sequencing. The polymorphism of these 1. microsatellite loci was examined and the utility of simple sequence repeats (SSR) and inter-SSR (ISSR) marker systems for genetic characterization compared using 1. selected ramie cultivars. Both approaches successfully discriminated the 1. cultivars which differed in the amount of polymorphism detected. The level of polymorphism detected by SSR was 95.0%, higher than that by ISSR (72.3%), but the average polymorphism information content (PIC) of ISSR (0.651. was higher than that of SSR (0.441.. The higher PIC value of ISSR suggests that ISSR is more efficient for fingerprinting ramie cultivars than SSR markers. However, because the SSR loci are codominant, they are more suitable for determining the homozygosity levels of ramie, constructing linkage map, quantitative trait loci study of complex traits and marker-assisted selection.

Sol-gel preparation and spectroscopic study of the pyrophanite MnTiO_3 nanoparticles

The nanosized xerogel of titanium dioxide (TiO2. and manganese oxides (MnO2. Mn2.3, Mn3O4) was prepared by the sol-gel method using manganese chloride (MnCl2.4H2.) and titanium isopropoxide (Ti(O-iPr)4) as precursors in cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)/ ethanol/H2./HCl micelle solutions, following the calcinations of the produced powders at differ-ence temperatures. The nanostructure and phase composition of these nanoparticles were characterized with X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), en-ergy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The spectroscopic characterizations of these nanoparticles were also done with UV-Vis spectroscopy and laser Raman spectroscopy (LRS). XRD patterns show that the pyrophanite MnTiO3 phase was formed at the calcinations temperature of 900℃. The TEM images show that the nanoparti-cles are almost spherical or slight ellipose and the sizes are 50 nm on average. The UV-Vis spectra show that the nanosized MnTiO3 have significant absorption bands in the visible region. There are new absorption peaks of MnTiO3 nanoparticles in LRS compared with the pure TiO2.powder.

The phylogenetic origin of Beckmannia remains *** genus has been placed within the Chlorideae,Aveneae(Agrostideae),Poeae,or treated as an isolate lineage,*** the present study, we used nuclear internal transcribed spacer(ITS)and chloroplast trnL-F sequences to examine the phylogenetic relationship between Beckmannia and those genera that have assumed to be *** the basis of the results of our studies,the following conclusions could be drawn:(i)Beckmannia and Alopecurus are sister groups with high support;and(ii)Beckmannia and Alopecurus are nested in the Poeae clade with high *** results of our analysis suggest that Beckmannia should be placed in Poeae.

1.Definitions and resultsWITH the development of the theory of dynamical systems and fractal geometry, one provedthat symbolic dynamics is a powerful tool to study chaos and fractals. It is useful to study thefractal characteristics of symbolic dynamics. In the present note we shall point out the relationbetween the dimension and measure theoretic entropy of any subshift in symbolic space. Weprove here that the Bowen’s formula for Hausdorff dimension holds without Markov struc-ture. A variational principle for dimension is obtained.

Energy is now becoming the bottleneck of urban and regional development. The paper takes shandong Province, one of the most energy consuming provinces in{1., as an example, uses quantity methods such as SPSS (Stastics Package for Social Science) cluster sampling and regression analysis, and applies quantity analysis, to analyze the situation of energy issues in shandong province. The conflicts between the quick industrialization and increasing extensive economic development, between urban population and energy consuming per head, between the infinite energy consuming desire and the low level of managing system, and between the unstable world energy supply and the limited energy storage in{1. are the main factors of energy crisis in shandong, which not only results in energy shortage, but also becomes the barrier of economic and social development. In order to ensure sufficient energy supply for shandong province in the 2.st century, we should take countermeasures, such as changing the economic development model, pursuing a multiple and high quality energy strategy, improving the intensive urbanization strategy, and building a scientific energy system.

This article is concerned with large time behavior of solutions to the Neumann or Dirichlet problem for a class of Newtonian filtration equations ｜x｜λ＋Эt^-Эu=div（｜x｜^k∨u^m）＋｜x｜λ＋ku^p with 0 〈 m 〈 1.p 〉 1.λ≥0, k ∈ R. An interesting phenomenon is that there exist two thresholds k∞ and kl for the exponent k, such that the critical Fujita exponent pc for p exists and is finite if k E （k∞, k1., otherwise, pc is infinite or does not exist.

THz spectrum of reduced glutathione

The optical characteristics of reduced glutathione molecules between 0.2.THz and 2.4 THz have been investigated by THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). The absorption characteristics and optical parameters of the reduced glutathione purged with Nitrogen at room temperature were obtained experimentally. The measured results were fitted well with the theoretical results computed by using Density Functional Theory (DFT) in far-infrared range. Also the conformation of the reduced glutathione molecule was simulated by Gaussian 03. This work has demonstrated significantly that THz-TDS spectroscopy can further be used to study other biological molecules in biological and biomedical engineering.
