A group of 2.6,10,15,19-pentamethyli- cosenes (PMIΔ) containing 1―5 unsaturated double bonds has been identified in the sea floor sediments from the Gulf of Mexico at the Green Canyon 2.8 *** PMIΔ compounds are distributed between nC2. and nC2. on the mass chromatogram of aliphatic fraction. Their δ 13C values are very much depleted in 13C and in the range of ?86.7‰ to ?115.5‰, whereas the δ 13C values of companion n-alkanes range from ?2..4‰ to ?34.6‰. These unsaturated PMIΔ com-pounds are typical biomarkers derived from the an-aerobic oxidation of methane mediated by meth-ane-oxidizing archaeal bacteria and indicative of the gas seeps or even the occurrence of gas hydrates in the deep sea sediments.

Pollination limitation is common in flowering plants and is thought to be a factor driving the evolution of floral *** plasticity of floral longevity to pollination may be an adaptation of plants to pollen ***,this adaptation is less critical in short-lived *** evaluate pollen limitation and the plasticity of floral longevity to pollination in Potentilla tanacetifolia,a gynodioecious herb with short-lived flowers,we analyzed its breeding system,tested sex-differential pollen limitation,and compared variations in floral display size in natural populations in Duolun County,Inner Mongolia,*** pollination experiments and pollinator exclusion treatments revealed that *** is self-compatible and non-autonomously apomictic and shows sex-differential pollen *** plasticity of floral longevity to pollination was observed;the floral duration of female plants was prolonged by approximately 3-4 hours with pollination exclusion ***,the percentage of flowers displayed on female plants during pollination exclusion treatment was significantly higher than that during natural *** natural pollination conditions,the percentage of flowers displayed on female plants was significantly higher than on hermaphrodite ***,approximately 50%of the pollen grains spread out of the anthers of hermaphrodite flowers within 2.h of anthesis;the number of pollen grains adhering to the stigmas of hermaphrodite flowers was significantly higher than that adhering to female flowers when flowers shed their *** results indicate that variation in floral longevity may be an adaptive strategy to pollination conditions for gynodioecious ***.

The vanadium oxide thin films are deposited for microbolometers by radio frequency reactive sputtering method at room temperature. The effects of the oxygen partial pressure on the deposition rate, electrical properties and compositions of the films are discussed. The as-deposited VOx thin films with x value of nearly 2.are deposited by adjusting the oxygen partial pressure. After oxidation annealing of these films in air, the VO2.films with high temperature coefficients of resistivity （about -4%/℃） and low resistivity can be obtained. The square resistances of the films are in the range of 100 kΩ/squ—300 kΩ/squ. All films are deposited at room temperature and annealed at 400℃, in which the compatibility between VOx deposition process and MEMS （micro electromechanical systems） is greatly improved.

By using atomic force microscope (AFM), the topography and function of the plasmalemma surface of the isolated protoplasts from winter wheat mesophyll cells were observed, and compared with dead protoplasts induced by dehydrating stress. The observational results revealed that the plasma membrane of living protoplasts was in a state of polarization. Lipid layers of different cells and membrane areas exhibited distinct active states. The surfaces of plasma membranes were unequal, and were characterized of regionalisation. In addition, lattice structures were visualized in some regions of the membrane surface. These typical structures were assumed to be lipid molecular complexes, which were measured to be 15.8±0.09 nm in diameter and 1.9±0.3 nm in height. Both two-dimensional and three-dimensional imaging showed that the plasmalemma surfaces of winter wheat protoplasts were covered with numerous protruding particles. In order to determine the chemical nature of the protruding particles, living protoplasts were treated by proteolytic enzyme. Under the effect of enzyme, large particles became relatively looser, resulting that their width was increased and their height decreased. The results demonstrated that these particles were likely to be of protein nature. These protein particles at plasmalemma surface were different in size and unequal in distribution. The diameter of large protein particles ranged from 2.0 to 440 nm, with a central micropore, and the apparent height of them was found to vary from 12.to 40 nm. The diameter of mid-sized protein particles was between 40―60 nm, and a range of 1.8―5 nm was given for the apparent height of them. As for small protein particles, obtained values were 12.40 nm for their diameter and 0.7―2.2.nm for height. Some invaginated pits were also observed at the plasma membrane. The two-dimensional Riemann problem of simplifed Euler equation is discussed, in which initial value contains two different constant states that are separated by a smooth curve. This problem is a natural description of realistic phenomena, but it is hard to study by conventional idea. So a new approach is proposed. Some new properties about two-dimensional rarefaction wave, shock wave and intermediate state of solutions are disclosed.

The buildings and structures of mines were monitored automatically using modern surveying technology. Through the analysis of the monitoring data, the deformation characteristics were found out from three aspects containing points, lines and regions, which play an important role in understanding the stable state of buildings and structures. The stability and deformation of monitoring points were analysed, and time-series data of monitoring points were denoised with wavelet analysis and Kalman filtering, and exponent function and periodic function were used to get the ideal deformation trend model of monitoring points. Through calculating the monitoring data obtained, analyzing the deformation trend, and cognizing the deformation regularity, it can better service mine safety production and decision-making.

Interdecadal and interannual timescales are dominant in the North China rainfall in rainy season (July and August). On the interdecadal timescale, the North China rainfall exhibited an abrupt decrease at the end of 1970s. In this study, we examined the effect of this abrupt rainfall decrease on the association between rainfall and circulation on the interannual timescale, and found that the interdecadal variation does not change the physical mechanism responsible for the interannual variation of North China rainfall. There is a linear relationship between the interdecadal and interannual variabilities of North China rainfall in rainy season.

Forcing mechanism of the Pleistocene east Asian monsoon variations in a phase perspective

The deep sea records from the ODP Sites 1143 and 1144 in the northern and southern South China Sea (SCS), including foraminiferal δ 18O and δ 13C, Opal% and pollen percentage, reveal that the variations of the east Asian monsoon have been closely correlated with the variations of the Earth’s orbital parameters (eccentricity, obliquity and precession) and the global ice volume on orbital scale. All the monsoonal proxies show strong 100 ka, 41 ka and 2. ka cycles. Although G. ruber δ 13C of Site 1143 is coherent with the ETP (ETP= normalized (eccentricity + obliquity-precession) at eccentricity, obliquity and precession bands, most of the coherent relationship focuses on the precession band, and the other monsoonal proxies are coherent with the ETP only at the precession band, which indicate that precession dominates the Pleistocene tropical climate changes. The phase relationship of the monsoonal proxies with the foraminiferal δ 18O implies that the global ice volume changes have played a significant role in modulating the east Asian monsoon climate, at least dominating the winter monsoon. This forcing mechanism of the east Asian monsoon is apparently different from that of the Indian ocean mon-soon. The variations of the east Asian monsoon at the precession band, at least that of the winter monsoon, have been controlled not only by the sensible heating but also by the latent heating of the surface water in the South China Sea.
