Face images captured in different spectral bands are said to be heterogeneous. Although the heterogeneous face images from a same individual are significantly different in appearance, we can still achieve multi-modal patterns matching by image processing and transforming. In this paper, we propose a novel recognition algorithm based on face synthesis from NIR （near infrared） to VIS （visual light）. For this first we use the illumination-invariant feature to construct face mapping function, then apply the correlation coefficient Gaussian kernel to determine the weights of synthesis components, and produce a synthesized VIS image corresponding to the query NIR image, thereby our problem is transformed to conventional homogeneous （VIS） face matching. Experimental results show that the proposed method effectively improves the recognition results.

Polarimetric scattering from inhomogeneous random media of non-spherical scatterers under a pulse incidence is studied. The time-dependent Mueller matrix solution of vector radiative transfer for layering random media is derived. Co-polarized and cross-polarized bistatic and back-scattering are numerically simulated. The shape and intensity of polarized echoes well depict the inhomogeneous fraction profile of random scatterers. Its functional dependence upon the fraction profile, layering thickness, and other parameters are discussed. This technique is applicable to reconstruction of inhomogeneous fraction profile and inversion of the media thickness.

Soil health risk assessment is used to formulate soil environmental quality standard, and it is a new environment management method. Case study in urban center of Harbin, rural-urban fringe zone,primary toll gate in Songbei high way and Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Company, full-scale study of Harbin soil lead pollution situation was made by the method the literature material and field survey, we calculated the lead exposure for the children from the soil in Harbin using biological dynamic model of MARCUS, and made the risk assessment of MMR incidence. The results showed that there was different of the levels of lead pollution in different function zones of Harbin, the both sides of road﹥around of factory﹥the banks of Songhua River﹥ suburban farmland﹥residential areas. The content of lead obviously accumulated in 2. meters on both sides of the road, and the content of lead in industrial zone was of great difference for human factors, without obvious rule. Furthermore, the lead exposure of children aged from 0 to 6 from the soil in Harbin was between 7.96×10-5 and 1.98×10-4.g/d, and the health risk of MMR was 2..307 per 1,000.

Currently,BeiDou satellite navigation system can be used for real-time positioning and navigation with 4.GSO+3GEO satellites in the *** paper first briefly introduces some new progresses of BeiDou *** the distribution of BeiDou’s DOP value over the Pacific-Asia area is given according to current BeiDou Satellite’s *** evaluate and find bad satellite’s performance in running,we provide a simple way to detect BeiDou satellite’s abnormality by using continuous static observation *** processing 15 days’data obtained from several static stations and some dynamic observations collected in the field,we evaluate the accuracy of current BeiDou System’s positioning and *** results show that the horizon positioning accuracy is better than 2. meters while the vertical accuracy is better than 30 meter,the velocity accuracy is better than 0.4.meter/second.

US Vice President Al Gore's vision of Digital Earth applies us with prospects for brand-new ways of solving problems the earth is facing such as seismic disaster. ms paper first briefly introduces the concept of Digital Earth. Then in the context of Digital Earth. the Origin, concept and application of Virtual Reality technology are reviewed. After that we present in detail our preliminary case study--CVR-USD (Computer Virtual Reality for Urban Seismic Disaster Simulation) System which aims to simulate and manage seismic disaster through integrating RS, GIS and VR technologies. For this system, we've built USD subsystem, developed SMVR software to implement CVR. and also developed a Spatial Dare Analysis Package to handle spatial data related to earthquake disaster.

Tropospheric column amounts of NO 2.from OMI/Aura products were applied to investigate the seasonal variation of NO x on the east side of the Taihang Mountains (ESTM) in china. The NO 2.concentration varied seasonally, with winter maxima and summer minima. To explore the causes of the heavy NO 2.pollution in this region, wind field simulations were conducted by using the Fifth-Generation NCAR/Penn {4. Mesoscale Model (MM5). MM5 simulations showed that wind directions in the ESTM region were dominated by northeasterly and northwesterly winds throughout the year and to a lesser degree by southwesterlies. Elevated NO 2.concentrations (higher than 50×10 15 molec/cm 2.) occurred in three meteorological situations: convergent wind fields (5 days), northeasterly winds (2.days), and calm days (1 day) in January. Although the local anthropogenic NO x emission strength was not so high as that in other developed areas, the calms and frequent occurrence of convergent wind fields, as well as unfavorable terrains for diffusion, resulted in the accumulation of atmospheric pollutants and hence heavy NO x pollution. Furthermore, long-distance NO x transportation from the Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan region to the ESTM area could be seen when the wind was from a northeasterly direction, especially under high wind speeds.
