A ferromagnetic amorphous Fe73Al4Ge2.b1P10C6B4 alloy with high glass-forming ability was synthesized by melt spinning. The supercooled liquid region before crystallization reaches about 65.7 K. The crystallized structure consists of alpha -Fe, Fe3B, FeB, Fe3P and Fe3C phases. The Fe-based amorphous alloy exhibits good magnetic properties with a high saturation magnetization and a low saturated magnetostriction. The crystallization leads to an obvious decrease in the soft magnetic properties.

The diffusivity of hydrogen in two Ni3Al alloys (No.1 and No.2. has been measured in the temperature range of 100 degreesC to 42. degreesC using an ultrahigh vacuum gaseous permeation technique. The diffusivity data fall into two segments, in which the hydrogen diffusivity adheres to the Arrhenius form, respectively. From the hydrogen diffusivity, it is conjectured that the hydrogen diffusivity reflects the hydrogen transportation along the grain boundaries at lower temperature and the hydrogen transportation in the lattice at higher temperature. The intergranular fracture of Lit-type intermetallics induced by hydrogen at relative low temperature results from hydrogen transportation along the grain boundaries and not in the lattice.

The solid-solid state reactions of o-aminobenzoic acid with Zn(OAc)2.2.2., Cu(OAc)2..H2., Ni(OAc)2.4H2. and Mn(OAc)2.4H2. result in the formation of corresponding complexes M(OAB)2.(M = Zn(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ), Mn(IⅡ)). XRD, IR and elemental analysis methods have been used to characterize the solid products. The activation energies of these reactions, which are calculated from the kinetic data obtained by means of the isothermal electrical conductivity measurement method, have been found to increase in the order: Cu(OAc)2.H2.(37.7 ***-1)~Mn(OAc)2.4H2. (***-1) 2.2.2. (56.3 ***-1) 2.4H2. (85.2.***-1). The trend is related to their crystal structures.

The effects of final air cooling temperature on the microstructure and mechanical properties of hot rolled 0.2.-1.9Mn-0.5Si-0.08P TRIP steel were studied by utilizing OM, SEM, TEM and tensile tests. Experimental results showed that in the multiphase microstructure of the investigated steel when the finish rolling temperature was about 82. ℃ and the final air cooling temperature was in the range of 630-700 ℃, the grain size of most of ferrite was finer (about 4 μm) and which had higher dislocation density, the bainite packets had chaotic orientations and lath boundaries of bainite were not quite straight, the retained austenite distributed in the ferrite grain boundaries or triradius was fine and dispersive, and their grain size was about 0.4-1.9 μm. With increasing the amount of ferrite, the volume fraction of retained austenite had a slight decrease. When the final air cooling temperature was 630 ℃, the steel had excellent mechanical properties, which was characterized by combination of continuous yielding, high strength (about 796 MPa) and high elongation (2..7%) as well as low yield/strength ratio (0.58); when the final air cooling temperature increased to 700 ℃, the matrix structure was bainite packets and the comprehensive properties were deteriorated.

Nanometer powders can be produced by an electrohydrodynamic technique. The breakup mechanism of the metal droplets generated by the electrohydrodynamic technique was analysed. It showed that the applied voltage, the electric field Btrength, the properties of the molten metal and the volumetric flow rate of the molten metal directly effect the breat-up extent of the metal droplets.

The microstructure evolution of the Zr60Al15Ni2. metallic glass during rolling at room temperature is investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC); high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HREM). The results show that the values of full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the XRD patterns; exothermic enthalpy ΔH of DSC plots do not monotonically change with the variation of deformation degrees . As is not large than 2.%, the values of FWHM; ΔH are lower than that of the as-cast state. When reaches 30%, the values of FWHM; ΔH become larger than that of the as-cast state, while their values begin to decrease again as reaches about 85%. These results indicate that the reversible transitions between ordered; disordered atomic configurations occur during rolling, which is further verified by the HREM images. The reversible phase transition can be explained by the competition between the diffusion controlled reordering; shear-induced disordering during rolling.

Fractionation of heavy metals in sediments can help in understanding potential hazards of heavy metals. The present study analyzed total concentrations and fractions of selected heavy metals （Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, and Zn） in surface sediments from Dianchi Lake, Yunnan Province, china, as well as factors that may affect distributions of the various heavy metal fractions. Total concentrations of the heavy metals decreased in the order Zn 〉 Cu 〉 Pb 〉 Cr 〉 Cd. These heavy metals, except Cr, were much higher than their background levels, indicating that Dianchi Lake was polluted by Cd, Zn, Pb, and Cu. Cadmium occurred mainly as the non-residual fraction （sum of the HOAc-soluble, reducible, and oxidizable fractions）（97.6%）, and Zn （55.7%） was also predominantly found in the non-residual fraction. In contrast, most of the Cr （88.5%）, Pb （81.8%）, and Cu （59.2.） occurred in the residual fraction. Correlation analysis showed that total heavy metal concentrations, organic matter and reducible Fe were the main factors affecting the distributions of the various heavy metal fractions. In the Walhai section of Dianchi Lake （comprising 97% of the lake area）, the concentrations of Cd, Zn, Pb, and Cu in the non-residual fraction were significantly lower （P ≤ 0.01 or 0.05） than those of the Caohal section （3% of the lake area）. This indicated that potential heavy metal hazards in the Caohai section were greater than the Waihai section.

The synthesis and characterization of a new 17-membered macrocyclic Schiff base ligand 3, 4: 12. 13-dibenzo-8-benzyl-1, 8, 15-triaza-5, 11-dioxacycloheptadeca-1, 14-diene is reported. Copper(Ⅱ), nickel(Ⅱ), iron(Ⅲ), cobalt(Ⅱ), lanthanium(Ⅲ), praseodymium (1 ), neodymium ' ), samarium (m ), gadolinium (m ), and uranyl (UOi+ ) complexes with this ligand were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, electronic pectra, MS, and conductivity.

The biomimetic approach was applied to study the in vitro biomineralization of series of the chitosan films crosslinked by glutaraldehyde. The deposited calcium phosphate coatings were studied using scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis. Initially, the treatment in simulated body fluid (SBF) results in the formation of single layer of calcium phosphate particles over the film surface. As immersion time in SBF increases, further nucleation and growth produce a simulated calcium phosphate coating. The Ca/P molar ratio of the calcium phosphate increases with the immersion time, showing a rapid formation of calcium-deficient phosphate material from the phase of octac1alcium phosphate. The different glutaraldehyde crosslinking degree influences the morphology and magnitude of the calcium phosphate coatings on the surface of the chitosan films.
