The waterborne dispersions of epoxy resin were prepared by the phase inversion emulsification technique. Rheological behavior and its relationship with the structural change of the systems were studied. It was shown that the concentrated dispersions were highly viscoelastic and pseudoplastic, which was attributed to the formation of a physical network among the waterborne particles via hydrogen bond. The dilute dispersions were Newtonian fluids. The discrete clusters composed of small waterborne particles were found in diluted dispersions. With increasing solid content, there existed a structural transition via percolation through a cluster-cluster aggregation mode to form the physical network, which was qualitatively evidenced by the TEM morphologies.

In this paper, it is the first time to report the study on the state-to-state rotational energytransfer (RET)of NH2.(A1)(0,9,0)under molecular beam condition in detail. Through asystematic study of the relative population transferred as functions of initially excited quantumstate, including different Ka, nuclear-spin, and even spin-doublet. some propensity rules wereobtained directly.

NH3.CH3.H system was studied by ab initio calculations at the Hartree-Fock level using the 6-3.Gbasis set. Equilibrium geometries of both of its ionic (type I and II) and neutral clusters are obtained. Different dissociation channels are evaluated for I and II, respectively. The results suggest that when NH3.CH3.H is vertically ionized,CH3. + NH+ are the dominant products via a proton transfer reaction, and accompanying the dissociation of (NH3.CH3.H)+ver to NH3.+ + CH3.H, intracluster charge transfer process takes place in the system.

The interaction of imidazole with Co electrodes in an electrochemical system was studied by surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and electrochemical methods. The SER spectra of Co in an imidazole solution as a function of the applied potential were analyzed and the assignment of the Raman bands was made. It was found that there were three kinds of sur-face species on the Co surface in different potential regions and they were interchangeable de-pending on the potential. In a relatively negative potential region (?1.2.to ?0.9 V), imidazole was adsorbed on the surface and its orientation might change from a vertical configuration via the N-end of the pyridine ring to a tilted configuration via the C2.N3.double bond. In a more positive potential region (?0.8 to ?0.7 V), the SERS signal from the adsorbed imidazole weakened and finally disappeared, meanwhile the signal from the Co and imidazole complex strengthened gradually. At the open circuit potential (?0.6 V), we detected very strong bands from the Co ox-ides. By comparing the Tafel curves of the Co electrode in the solution without and with imidazole, we found that imidazole has a marked effect on the corrosion inhibition of the Co electrode. This result demonstrates that we may be able to reveal the complicated interaction of surface species with metal surface at the molecular level by combining the SERS and electrochemical methods.

The clusters generated by direct laser vaporization of KH2.O4 and Cu-3.PO4)(2. samples are studied by a TOF mass spectrometer.
