Fluorescence and absorption spectra were used to study the temperature effect on theconformation of bacteriorhodopsin (bR) in the blue and purple membranes (termed as bRb and bRprespectively).The maximum emission wavelengths of tryptophan fluorescence in both proteins at roomtemperature are 340 nm,and the fluorescence quantum yield of bRb is about 1.4 fold higher than that of *** temperature increases,the tryptophan fluorescence of bRb decreases,while the tryptophan fluorescenceof bRp *** binding study of extrinsic fluorescent probe bis-ANS indicated that the probe can bindonly to bRb,but not to *** results suggest that significant structural difference existed between bRband *** was also found that both kinds of bR are highly thermal *** maximum wavelength of theprotein fluorescence emission only shifted from 340 nm to 346 nm at 100℃.More interestingly,as tempera-ture increased,the characteristic absorption peak of bRb at 605 nm decreased and a new absorption peak at380 nm *** transition occurred at a narrow temperature range (65℃-70℃).These facts indicatedthat an intermediate can be induced by high *** phenomenon has not been reported before.

Response of remotely sensed Normalized Difference Water Deviation Index to the 2.06 Drought of eastern sichuan Basin

One of the most serious droughts in last century occurred in eastern sichuan Basin in the summer of 2.06 (hereinafter called the Drought). The response of Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS, boarding on NASA satellites of Terra and Aqua) to the Drought was analyzed in order to reach one practicable monitoring solution for regional soil moisture. Temporal process and spatial extension of the Drought were firstly estimated with ground meteorological and hydrological observations. Then, for the whole region of sichuan and Chongqing, the remotely sensed Normalized Difference Water In- dex (NDWI) for the summers of 2.01―2.06 were calculated based on 8-day composite MODIS products, which were further used to construct a new water index (Normalized Difference Water Deviation Index, NDWDI) to examine the sensitivity of remote sensing in the Drought. The study showed that the NDWDI is more sensitive to regional drought than other absolute-soil-moisture-based indices. With the new index, the study extracted the spatial-temporal characteristics of the 2.06 Drought, and explored its developing and withdrawing processes, which agreed with related statistics. Compared with ground method of drought observation, the NDWDI-based remote sensing solution of this paper is more pref- erable and practicable in that the local soil properties of water consumption and supply are implicitly taken into account, and the spatial representativity limit of ground observation is circumvented to a degree as satellite remotely senses the earth surface in a way of two-dimensional pixel matrix. So, the NDWDI-based method can be used to monitor regional soil water stress situation more practically and efficiently.

Development of a model to generate a risk map in a building fire

fire simulations and sensors are widely used in building fires,various data such as temperature,CO and CO2.concentration,visibility can be obtained by sensors and sensor-based simulation. It is important to generate a risk map based on such data so that we can use it to estimate {2. of the building. In this paper,we propose a method to generate a dynamical,integrated risk map using sensor readings in a building fire. Such risk evaluation model is developed using similarity comparison between the space state and dangerous state by a likelihood distance calculating and data grouping from a two-step cluster method. The risk evaluation model considers the integrated influence on the occupants in the zone from high temperature,lack of oxygen,toxic and harmful gases and shows the relative fire risk map at certain time. Based on the simulation study,it is proved that multi-factor fire risk analysis would be more objective and accurate than single factor and two-factor risk analysis and the fire risk evaluation model can generate a risk map and provide the classification information and the whole building risk statistic results to support evacuation command and control.

Surface Morphology of Soil Cracks in Yuanmou Dry-hot Valley Region,Southwest china

Surface morphology of soil cracks is one of the important factors influencing the water evaporation rate in cracked soil in Yuanmou Dry-hot Valley Region,Southwest china. Quantitative study of the complicated surface morphology of soil cracks is a prerequisite for further studies of soil-cracking mechanisms. The present paper establishes a quantitative indicator system by application of concepts and methods originating from Fractal Geometry and Network Analysis. These indicators can effectively express the complicated features of soil-crack network structure. Furthermore,a series of values related to soil-crack morphology was obtained by image processing on field photos of soil-crack quads,and gradation criteria for the degree of development of soil cracks were determined. Finally,the changes in values of the morphological indicators under different degrees of development were analyzed in detail. Our results indicate that (1) the degree of development of soil cracks can be divided into five grades,i.e.,feeble development,slight development,medium development,intensive development and extremely intensive development; (2. the values of the indicators change predictably with increasing degree of development of soil cracks. The area density (Dc) increases,and both the area-weighted mean ratio of crack area to perimeter (AWMARP),which reflects the intensity of cracking,and the index r,which is related to the connectivity of a soil crack,grow uniformly (albeit with different forms). AWMRAP increases at a geometric rate while r shows logarithm-mic growth,indicating a gradual increase in theconnectivity of a soil crack. Nevertheless,the area-weighted mean of soil-crack fractal dimension (AWMFRAC) shows a decreasing trend,indicating a gradual decline in the complexity of cracks as area density increases.

Inhibitory Effect of Green Tea Extract on the Carcinogenesis Induced by Asbestos Plus Benzo(a)pyrene in Rat

In this experiment lung carcinoma was induced by crocidolite plus benzo(a)pyrene in rat. From the cancer models, we observcd that the incidcnce (16.0%) of lung carcinomas was lowel, and the survival time (376 days) of the first case of carcinoma and the mean survival time (758 days) of the rats with carcinoma were higher in the group of rats drinking 2. green tea extract for life than in the positive group (without drinking green tea extract). The mortality ratio (0.5047) was smaller in the cxperimental group than in the positive control group, and the survival curve of the experimental group significantly raised up, in comparison with the positive group.

Genetic diversity and relationships of wild goat grass (Aegilops tauschii Cosson) from Iran and Xinjiang,west china,as well as its weedy type from the Yellow River region of Shaanxi and Henan provinces in china were analyzed by simple sequence repeat (SSR) fingerprints.A high level of genetic diversity in Aegilops tauschii accessions from Iran was observed,and the richness of genetic diversity was followed by accessions from Shaanxi,Henan,and *** weedy type of Aegilops tauschii showed a close genetic relationship with the wild type from different regions in *** results indicated that the weedy Aegilops tauschii found in the Yellow River region was most likely introduced from Iran—the diversity center of Aegilops *** weedy Aegilops tauschii populations found in the Yellow River region may be brought into the central part of china as a weed species together with common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) from the West during various periods of time in *** finding has provided strong evidence for the introduction of common wheat from the West into china via the Silk Road,and also demonstrated the important role of the Silk Road in the exchange of agri- culture and other relevant technologies between china and the West.

Biomineralization in the La' erma Gold Deposit of the Western Qinling Mountains

Geological and geochemical studies and experiments on mineralization indicate that the source bed of the La' erma gold deposit in the south subbelt of the western Qinling Mountains is hydrothermal cherts in the Cambrian Taiyangding Group. Organic geochemical study of the cherts shows that the organic precursors intimately associated with gold are marine bacteria and algae. The gold content in chert,is positively correlated with the amount of bacterial and algal microfossils, and simulation experiments on biomineralization of modern bacteria and algae indicate that bacteria and algae played an important role in the formation of the La' erma gold deposit.
