In order to store and manage a large amount of ground and indoor image data with high resolution, an integrated data management system needs to be developed. Possible strategies for this purpose were discussed together with initial test on the newly defined 3D maps. The features of such 3D maps, data organization, key techniques used for the map storage, such as image compression based on wavelet transformation, quadtree index, update and retrieval, were analyzed, with the goals of bringing some profits to the storage and management of the digital data in the visual construction of digital mine, digital city and digital community.

Suitability evaluation plays an important role in land reclamation because the choice of evaluation methods affects the accuracy and objectivity of the suitability evaluation results. Furthermore, it influences the decision-making related to land reclamation. An improved method, which is called limit comprehensive conditions method, was developed after different suitability evaluation methods were studied. Based on this method, the reclaimed land of the Gaoqiao bauxite mining area was evaluated. The Gaoqiao mining area was divided into seven evaluation units that were evaluated respectively by selecting evaluation factors and establishing grade standards. The results show that the proposed method is more applicable and easier to handle. Moreover, its evaluation results are more scientific compared with the traditional evaluation methods. The improved method can be beneficial to the rapid monitoring and the effective management of reclaimed land in the opencast mine area.

Land use structural optimization is an effective approach to realize land sustainable utilization and allocate limited land resource rationally. Grey multiple objectives programming (GMOP) model based on china terrestrial ecosystem service value was constructed and applied to Lilin town. The result shows that GMOP model has more practical applicability and takes ecologic, social and comprehensive benefit into consideration. There are three programs after optimization. Program Ⅰ is comprehensive improvement and constructing ecological economy type, program Ⅱ is gross cultivated land dynamic balance type and program Ⅲ is compromise type. There are still problems in programs Ⅱ and Ⅲ, such as distribution in disorder, land left unused or abandoned. Based on the benefits above, Program Ⅰ>Program Ⅲ> Program Ⅱ. Program Ⅰ is the optimal case. Its comprehensive benefit is 8.432.8×107 RMB yuan/a.

In order to research the possibility of digital close-range photogrammetric surveying in small scale physical simulation experiment, physical model coinciding with engineering practice was constructed based on similar theory. The datum processing method and surveying precision of digital close-range photogrammetric were analyzed. And the function relationship between overburden subsidence factor qr and the ratio z/H of stratum horizon z and mining depth H was researched. The results show that surveying points position mean error along horizontal direction is ±0.131 mm and vertical direction is ±0.192.mm. Therefore, multi-taking station cross direction digital close-range photogrammetric can completely satisfy the precision need of physical simulation experiment. And the empirical formula can be utilized to represent evolution law of stratum subsidence factor.

Extraction of vegetation fraction information from CBERS images based on VBSI vegetation index in Kaixian county

Based on the mixed pixel model, the vegetation fraction of Kaixian county, china, was extracted with three free CBERS images. VBSI vegetation index suitable for CBERS images constructed with FCD (forest canopy density) model principle was put forward by ITTO (International Tropical Timber Organization) was used, considering the underestimation of vegetation fraction using NDVI in low mountain-hill region influenced by soils and shadows. And vegetation fraction was divided into five categories from low to high in order to study the special variation of vegetation cover. The results show that the vegetation cover of the region is overall good, with an average of 50%. The area of vegetation fraction below 30% accounts for 11.7% of the entire studied area, mainly concentrates in central eastern Kaixian county, where is the major development zone of cities and towns; that between 30% and 60% accounts for 62.; and that higher than 60% accounts for 2.%, and mostly locates in northern middle-mountain area.

Strip pillar mining is one of the most important technical measures to control mining subsidence in china. Mining depth is one of the most important factors that can affect the mining subsidence in strip pillar mining. Six numerical simulation models were set up to simulate the surface subsidence of strip pillar mining in different mining depths. The mining depth in these six models ranges from 300 to 800 m. The simulated results were compared and analyzed. The formula was established based on the simulated results. It demonstrated that the subsidence of strip pillar mining method is related to mining depth. While the other conditions are the same, the subsidence of strip pillar mining increases with the increase of mining depth by logarithmic relationship.

The change in the quantity of cultivated land influences the structure, function and evolvement of ecosystem. The rational change in the quantity of cultivated land will be propitious to ecological security and sustainable development, and irrational change will deteriorate ecological environment. The concept of cultivated land quantity niche regulation was firstly put forward based on niche theory and the action-feedback mechanism between cultivated land quantity niche and cultivated land benefit niche. Then, the regulation measures of cultivated land quantity niche were brought forward in rural-urban area, agro-forest area and consolidation-reclamation-exploitation area. Finally, the ecological environmental effect after regulation was analyzed. The results show that different measures should be taken to regulate cultivated land quantity niche in different areas. The economic and social benefit niche of cultivated land should be promoted to regulate cultivated land quantity niche in rural-urban area and consolidation-reclamation-exploitation area. The social benefit niche of cultivated land should be reduced in agro-forest area. The regulation goal of cultivated land quantity niche will be attained by different measures.

Analysis to driving forces of land use change in Lu’an mining area

By selecting impact factors of driving force and formulating evaluation criteria of the impacts, the evaluation system of corresponding driving force impact of land use change was established. Taking Lu'an mining area as an example, the specific impact factors of coal mine were comprehensively evaluated and analyzed in order to carry out qualitative and quantitative analysis for the driving force of mining-land use change. The principal component analysis shows that the social and economic development in mining area from 2.00 to 2.07 demonstrates continuous accelerate trends, and the impacts of its overall driving force to land use change are increased gradually. The socio-economic factors have more impacts to mining-land use change than those of the natural resources. The main driving force of mining-land use change also include population, technological progress and policy.

An object oriented coal mining land cover classification method based on semantically meaningful image segmentation and image combination of GeoEye imagery and airborne laser scanning (ALS) data was presented. First, DEM, DSM and nDSM (normalized Digital Surface Model, nDSM) were extracted from ALS data. The GeoEye imagery and DSM data were combined to create segmented objects based on neighbor regions merge method. Then 10 kinds of objects were extracted. Different kinds of vegetation objects, including crop, grass, shrub and tree, can be extracted by using NDVI and height value of nDSM. Water and coal pile field was extracted by using NDWI and the standard deviation of DSM method. Height differences also can be used to distinguish buildings from road and vacant land, and accurate building contour information can be extracted by using relationship of neighbor objects and morphological method. The test result shows that the total classification accuracy of the presented method is 90.78% and the kappa coefficient is 0.891 4.
