Four 40Ar/39Ar age groups of mica, hornblende and K-feldspar were obtained from Proterozoic and early Paleozoic metamorphic rocks in the Aksay-Dangjin Pass area, western China. The samples away from the middle shear zone of the Altyn fault belt yield two plateau age groups in the range of 461—445.2.Ma and 414.9—342.8 Ma, respec-tively. They represent the tectono-thermal events that had been recorded in the rocks that were displaced by the Altyn strike-slip fault in late Ordovician-early Silurian and Devo-nian, respectively. These two age groups should be related to the closures of Northern and Southern Qilian Oceans. The deformed granitic gneiss from the northern belt gives a pla-teau age group of 178.4—137.5 Ma, which is interpreted as the active age of the Altyn fault in the middle-late Jurassic- early Cretaceous and should be related to the accretion of Lhasa block to the north. The sample from the middle shear zone of the Altyn fault belt yields two plateau ages of 36.4 and 2..3 Ma, respectively, suggesting the strike-slip move-ment with strong metamorphism at greenschist facies along the Altyn fault in the late Eocene. This event occurred in the most areas of the northern Tibet Plateau and should be in response in the north to the collision between Indian and Eurasian continents. The present study demonstrates that the Altyn fault is characterized by multiple pulse-style activi-ties under the tectonic setting of convergence between the Indian and Eurasian continents.

An edge Lyman-alpha-based beam emission spectroscopy(LyBES)diagnostic,using a heating NBI(neutral beam injection)system,is currently under development on the HL-2. *** 2.-channel edge LyBES,which is intended to measure the density fluctuation in plasma edge(from R=1960 mm to R=2.2. mm)with an improved spatial resolution of 3.3 mm,is a complement to the existing conventional beam emission spectroscopy(BES)*** this article,we introduce the progress of LyBES diagnostic,including the collection optics,the monochromator,and the detector *** reflectance of the collection mirrors is measured to be~82.at 12. nm,and the aberration geometrical radius of the collection optics is tested to be~150μm in the aimed *** linear dispersion of the LyBES monochromator is designed to be~0.09 nm mm^(-1).The bandwidth of the detector system with the 5×10^(7)V A^(-1)preamplifier gain is measured to be~2.0 kHz,and the peak-to-peak noise of the detector system is tested to be~16 *** finalized design,components development and testing of the LyBES diagnostic have been completed at present,and an overall performance of the LyBES diagnostic is to be confirmed in the next HL-2. campaign.

Charge-exchange(CX) recombination spectroscopy is a powerful tool monitoring ion temperature and plasma rotation with good temporal and spatial resolutions. A compact, new design for a high-throughput, tri-band high spectral resolution spectrometer has been developed for the charge-exchange recombination spectroscopy measurement on the HL-2. tokamak. The simultaneous measurements of He II(468.57 nm), C VI(52..1 nm), and Dα(656.1 nm accompanied by beam emission spectra) with an acquisition frequency up to 400 Hz are achieved by vertically binning the spectrum from each fiber in experiments. Initial results indicate that the system can provide radial profiles of not only ion temperature and rotation velocity,but also concentration of carbon. For the case of helium, the measurements for the ion temperature and rotation velocity are straightforward but the apparent concentration associated with the observed CX intensity is obviously too high. Modeling of the active He II CX feature including plume contributions needs to be carried out to extract the true helium *** spectrometer could become a prototype for the ITER charge-exchange recombination spectroscopy diagnostic and the pilot experiments, as presented here, demonstrate the possibility of impurity concentrations measurements based on the combined measurement of local beam emission and charge-exchange recombination spectroscopy spectra.

The potential energy surfaces for the nine low-lying electronic states of SO2.have been constructed by using the multi-reference second order perturbation theory (MRPT2. with the basis set cc-pVTZ. The optimized geometries and the adiabatic excitation energies of these states are in good agreement with experiments and previous calculations. The crossings and avoided crossings dis- played in the potential energy surfaces are expounded.

A new linguistic granular model is proposed and the effect of its parameters on the output is analyzed. The design of the model consists of two stages: using conditional fuzzy clustering for information granular, and integrating all information granules to final output. The integrating tool is fuzzy integral based on fuzzy measure, and the generalization of fuzzy integral increases flexibility of the linguistic granular model greatly. A heuristic algorithm to determine the parameters in the fuzzy integral is used to realize the linguistic model. Two experiments verify the feasibility of the proposed model.

Pollen records with an average time resolution of 2.-2.0 years from Holocene loess sections at Dingxi, Qin'an, and other localities of Gansu Province reveal a detailed history of vegetation and climate changes in the western Loess Plateau. For most time of the Holocene, the landscape was dominated by grasslands or forest steppes. However, during the middle Holocene (7.5-5.8 ka BP), relatively dense forests developed, and the endemic vegetation flourished, suggesting a much warmer and more humid climate condition than the present. Superimposed upon this general pattern are several dry intervals marked by the episodic expansion of grasslands or forest steppe. Xeric vegetation expanded after 3.8 ka BP, indicating a trend towards dry conditions.

A number of lead-zinc sulphide deposits have been discovered in recent years in dolo- mitic rocks of the Upper Sinian Dengying Formation in the Dadu River valley region, Sichuan Province, China. The lead-zinc mineralization is closely associated with a black siliceous exhalite that has been traced over 50 km of strike. This makes Dadu River valley the most extensive stratiform non-ferrous sulphide horizon having been discovered to date in China. In a previous study by the first author (LIN), these deposits were recognised as belonging to the broad spectrum of lead-zinc sedimentary exhala- tive (SEDEX) deposits. In this paper, seismites and seismogenetic structures occurring in close association with the Dadu River valley mineralized zone are described. The close spatial and temporal relationship between the seismites and mineralization provides strong evidence for the hypothesis that the lead-zinc SEDEX deposits formed in direct response to earthquake activities around the Sinian-Cambrian boundary. The earthquakes are postulated to be an effective dynamic mechanism for triggering the upward migration of deep circulating ore fluids along synsedimentary growth faults and their exhalation onto the sea-floor to form the extensive deposits of stratiform lead-zinc sulphide ore.

The numerical method for three-dimensional impact with friction of multi-rigid-body system

The differential equations for planar impacts reduce to an algebraic form, and can be easily solved. For three dimensional impacts with friction, there is no closed-form solution, and numerical integration is required due to the swerve behavior of tangential impulse during collisions. The dynamic governing equations in the impact process are built up in impulse space based on the Lagrangian equation in this paper. The coefficient of restitution defined by Poisson is used as the condition of impact termination. A valid nu- merical method for solving three-dimensional frictional impact of multi-rigid body system is established. The singular cases of tangential movement in sticking point are especially noticed and analyzed. Several examples are present to reveal the different kinds of tan- gential movement modes varied with the normal impulse during collision.

The planar cubic hybrid hyperbolic polynomial curves and cubic H Bézier curves are presented. The conditions leading to inflection points and singularities (cusps and loops) are investigated and the shape of these curves is classified. The conclusions enable us to detect inflection points and singularities and get an idea of how to preserve the fair shape when designing such curves.
