Large amounts of data regarding the influence of temperature and pressure on the thermal stability of crude oil have been pub-lished;however,the role of reservoir mediums has received little *** involving oil cracking in the presence of montmorillonite,illite,calcite,quartz and water were conducted in closed gold tubes to investigate the effects of these reservoir mediums on oil *** was done by screening variations in the chemical and stable carbon isotopic components of nC10+ and gasoline-range hydrocarbons(nC8-)present in various *** indicated that reservoir mediums have an active role in oil cracking under experimental *** concentrations of nC10+ in the cracked residues progressively decreased in systems containing oil+water+illite,oil+water+montmorillonite,oil+water,oil+water+quartz and oil+water+*** comparison with the system containing oil+water,our results indicated a retardation effect for oil cracking in systems in the presence of illite and montmorillonite,and an acceleration effect on oil destruction in systems in the presence of calcite and ***10+ became increasingly depleted in 13C in systems with oil+water+illite,oil+water+calcite,oil+water+montmorillonite,oil+water+ quartz and oil+*** obvious correlation was observed between concentrations and stable carbon isotopic components of nC6-nC8 and nC10+ in the individual *** discrepancies in chemical and stable carbon isotopic components of nC6-nC8 and nC10+ in the pyrolyzed residues highlighted the important role of reservoir mediums to control carbon-carbon cleavage of nC10+ and then the isomerization,cyclolization and aromatization reactions;as well as governing the occurrence and thermal destruction of nC6-nC8 under experimental *** research may have critical implications in reconstructing chemical kinetic models for natural oil cracking.

Nitrous oxide (N2.) and methane (CH4) emissions were measured using a static chamber method in two adjacent plots of freshwater marsh predominated by Calamagrostis angustifolia, one is seasonal waterlogged (SW) and the other without surface water accumulation (NW), in Sanjiang Plain wetland (47°35′N, 133°31′E), northeast china, during 2.02.2.04. The diurnal and seasonal flux variations of both gases were significantly correlated with 5-cm-soil temperature. The NW marsh is a source of N2. and sink of CH4, while the SW marsh is sink of N2. and source of CH4. Remarkably, we observed a N2. emission peak under Eh of +300 to +100 mV, and CH4 emission peak under Eh of +300 to +400 mV, which indicate additional sources of N2. and CH4 for the freeze-thaw induced emission peaks of N2. and CH4 observed between late July and early August. Further study shows that the additional N2. and CH4 were emitted under the frozen soil after thawing.

Excesses of 80Kr and 82.r, produced by secondary neutron capture effects of 79Br and 81Br, were observed in meteorites. Epithermal neutron flux, Jn (30—300 eV), and fast neutron flux, Jn( > 5 MeV), were determined according to reactions of 79Br(n, gb)80Kr, 81Br(n, gb)82.r, and 2.Mg(n, a)2.Ne, respectively. Cosmogenic noble gases of several ordinary chondrites fell in china indicate a positive relationship between Jn (30—300 eV)/Jn ( > 5 MeV) ratio and Jn (30—300 eV). This suggests large pre-atmospheric sizes of the meteorites, and a considerable fraction of the secondary neutrons were slowed down to epithermal energy. According to its relationship with Jn (30—300 eV)/Jn ( > 5 MeV) ratio, the pre-atmospheric minimum radii and masses of several chinese chondrites were estimated as below: Zhaodong: 60 cm, 32.0 kg; Laochengzhen: 2. cm, 490 kg; Suizhou: 31 cm, 450 kg; Xi Ujimgin: 2. cm, 160 kg; Dongtai: 2. cm, 140 kg.

Meiji (Mischief) coral atoll, in Nansha (Spratly) Islands, South china Sea, consists of an annular reef rim surrounding a central lagoon. On the atoll rim there are either protuberant 'motu' (small coral patch reefs on the rim of atoll) islets or lower sandy cays that contain modern microbialite deposits on the corals in pinnacles and surrounding bottoms of the atoll. Microbialites, including villiform, hairy, and thin spine growth forms, as well as gelatinous masses, mats and encrustation, developed on coral colonies and atoll rim sediments between 0 and 15 m deep-water settings. The microbialites were produced by natural populations of filamentous cyanobacteria and grew on (1) bulbous corals together with Acropora sp., (2. on massive colonies of Galaxea fascicularis, (3) on dead Montipora digitata, and (4) on dead Acropora teres, some hairy microbialite growing around broken coral branches. This study demonstrates that microbial carbonates are developed in coral reefs of South china Sea and indicates that microbial processes may be important in the construction of modern reef systems. The results have significance in the determination of nature and composition in microorganisms implied in the formation ancient microbialites, and permit evaluation of the importance of microbial deposits in mo-dern coral reefs and of 'microbialites' in biogeochemical cycles of modern coral reef systems. The re-sults also provide evidence of modern analogues for ancient microbialites in shallow-water settings, and combine with sedimentological studies of ancient microbialites to understand their controls.

The SHRIMP zircon U-Pb geochronology of three typical samples, including two monzo nitic granites from the Lincang batholith and a rhyolite from the Manghuai Formation are presented in the southern Lancangjiang, western Yunnan Province. The analyses of zircons for the biotite monzonitic granites from the northern (02.X-137) and southern (2.JH-10) Lincang batholith show the single and tight clusters on the concordia, and yield the weighted mean 2.6Pb/2.8U ages of 2.9.4 ± 3.0 Ma and 2.0.4 ± 3.6 Ma, respectively, representing the crystallized ages of these granites. The zircons for the rhyolitic sample (02.X-95) from the Manghuai Formation give a weighted mean 2.6Pb/2.8U age of 2.1.0 ± 5.0 Ma. These data suggest that the igneous rocks from the Lincang granitic batholith and Manghuai Formation have a similar crystallized age. In combination with other data, it is inferred that both were generated at a narrow age span (~2.0 Ma) and were originated from the postcollisional tectonic regime. An early Proterozoic 2.6Pb/2.8U apparent age of 1977±44 Ma is additionally obtained from one zircon from the biotite monzonitic granite (southern Lincang batholith), indicative of devel- opment of the early Proterozoic Yangtze basement in the region. These precisely geochronological data provide important constraints on better understanding the Paleozoic tectonic evolution of the Tethys, western Yunnan Province.

Two ductile shear zones trending EW and NNE respectively not only controlled the tectonic framework of the northern North china, but also constrained the geody-namic background for gold mineralization in this region. Field observations and microstructural analyses reveal that the EW trending ductile shear zones are mainly contributed to dextral compressional deformation resulting from top-to-the-southeast oblique thrust shearing, whereas the NNE trending ones are genetically related to sinistral strike-slip and extensional faulting. One sample from the former yielded an 40Ar-39Ar plateau age of (2.9±4) Ma (Bi) and two samples from the latter gave 40Ar-39Ar plateau ages of (116± 2. Ma (Bi) and (12.±3) Ma (Bi). These ages provide constraints on the top-to-the-southeast oblique thrusting event occurring in Late Triassic and the sinistral extensional and strike-slip faulting event which occurred in Early Cretaceous.

GOLD mineralization popularly occurs in Funiushan area. Based on the studies on more than 40 gold deposits or ore spots, it is shown that most of them are small in scale except the Pengou gold deposit, whichcan be developed into a medium one. The Pengou is a gold deposit of medium-low temperature hydrothermal type. 1 Geological setting The Funiushan gold mineralization zone lying in the contiguous region of Nanzhao, Fangcheng andLushan Counties, Henan Province, is stituated on the tectonic and geochemical boundary between theNorth china block and Qinling Orogenic belt, and transverses the two first-grade tectonic units. Thehost rocks are mainly the strata of Xionger group （Pt2./sub> ） and the Funiushan granitic batholith. The Penggougold deposit is just located on the large-scale fault of Xiatang-Guihe. A series of metamorphic rocks ofXionger Group outcroped in the north of the deposit. 2.The features of deposit The ore bodies mostly appear in thick plate with sag-and-swell variation. The gold-bearing alterationzone from upper to lower layers can be divided as granite→ pyritization and phyllic alteration→ alteredgranitic porphyry→quartz vein→pyritization and phyllic alteration→cataclastic granite with phyllic alteration, i. e. the upper and lower gold-bearing layers can be separated by the altered granite. THE parallel strike of geochemical steep zones and geophysical gradient zones represent geochemicalboundaries with tectonic hiding and almost no magmatism, but there existed great variation of lithosphereor crustal thickness. Tectonically, these areas were located in the foreland basins of craton margin. Thesegeochemical boundaries were usually associated with the low-temperature mineralization and petroleumgeneration. The Nd, Sr and Pb isotopic evidence indicated that there still existed strong crustal-mantle interaction through fluid activation along deep-seated faults at the craton margin.
