The 4.Ar/39Ar ages indicate that the eclogite facies rocks of the Hasiate slice in the western Tianshan Mountains were formed at the early stage of Devonian （4.1 Ma） and had been uplifted to the greenschist facies tectonic level in the middle stage of Devonian （381 Ma）. The formation and uplift of the blueschists of the Akesayi slice are constrained to the late stage of Devonian （370-364.Ma）. The different tectonic slices in the high-pressure metamorphic belt have experienced the different uplift history.

A typical sequence of fluvial terraces and aeolian deposits overlying these ter- races were multidisciplinary investigated. New evidences for uplift process of the northeastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau in the past 14.million years were obtained. At least 11 river terraces along Huangshui, the first-class tributary of Yellow River, at the Xining-Huzhu region are identi- fied. While the first one (T1) is classified as an accumulation terrace, the others are all basement river terraces, which consist of the Tertiary sandstone and siltstone bedrock, fluvial gravel and pebbles and the overlying aeolian loess-Red Clay deposit. Samples from the aeolian deposits were examined for paleomagnetic stratigraphic reconstruction (1030 samples), luminescence dating (16 samples), magnetic susceptibility and grain-size distribution (more than 4.00 sam- ples). The luminescence dating and stratigraphic correlation suggest that terraces of Tll, T10, T8, T7, T3, T2. T1 were formed at 14. 11.3, 1.55, 1.2. 0.15, 0.07 and 0.01 million years ago, re- spectively. Sedimentological analysis and geomorphological observation indicate that formation and evolution of these terraces were mainly driven by tectonic uplift. Therefore, the terrace se- quence provides an ideal geological record, of the uplift process of the northeastern during the past 14.million years, and the timings of the terraces formation are regarded as the timings of tectonic uplift. The significant uplifting events took place at 14. 11.3, 1.2.and 0.15 mil- lion years ago, respectively. The fluvial incision at the Xining-Huzhu region is less than 100 m during a period of ~12.million years in the Miocene era (between the Tll and T9), while the Huangshui River had incised 4.2.m during the past 1.2.million years (from T7 to the present floodplain). The river incision process clearly demonstrates that accelerated rising of the north- eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau during the late Cenozoic, and provides new evidence of previous thoughts

In the current work, chryosphanol (MHAQ) was isolated and purified from rheum, and the photosensitization activities were studied. In nitrogen-saturated DMSO solution, irradia- tion of chryosphanol (MHAQ) with visible light (>4.0 nm) produced the semiquinone radical anions (MHAQ??), which was intensified significantly by an electron donor NADH, suggesting electron transfer between the excited and ground state photosensitizer molecules. In an air-saturated DMSO solution, superoxide radical anions (O2.), trapped by DMPO, were detected. ?? It was proved that O2.was not originated from the singlet oxygen (1O2. but dependent on DMPO, ?? chrysophanol, oxygen and the irradiation time. The singlet oxygen and OH could also be pro- ? duced by the photosensitization of the photosensitizer. These suggest that chrysophanol pos- sesses the photosensitization activity via Type I mechanism and Type II mechanism. To evaluate the photosensitization activities of MHAQ, emodin and mixed anthraquinone derivatives ex- tracted from rheum, the relative productivities of O2.were estimated to be 1.8, 1.1 and 1.0 re- ?? spectively and the quantum yields for singlet oxygen to be 0.36, 0.53 and 0.14.respectively. Therefore, these low-cost pigments may be potentially used as phototherapeutic medicine for some kind of vascular diseases or photo-activated pesticides.

Two field measurements for atmospheric fine particles were conducted in Baoan district of Shenzhen during the summer and winter in 2.04. Totally 30 sets of 2. h samples were collected, and then the mass concentrations and chemical compositions were determined. The seasonal varia- tions and secondary pollution characteristics of fine particles during the sampling periods were dis-cussed with meteorological factors. The results show that seasonal variations of atmospheric particles are significant in Shenzhen. The average mass concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 in summer were 35 μg·m-3 and 57 μg·m-3, respectively, and those in winter were 99 μg·m-3 and 135 μg·m-3, respec-tively. The concentrations of both PM2.5 and PM10 in winter increased 184. and 137%, respectively, compared to those in summer. PM2.5 accounted for 61% and 75% of PM10 in summer and in winter, respectively, indicating severe fine particle pollution in Shenzhen. During the summer and winter sampling periods, the mean OC/EC ratios were 3.4.and 1.6, respectively. The estimated secondary organic carbon (SOC) averagely accounted for 56% and 6% of the total OC in summer and in winter, respectively, which implies a major contribution of SOC to OC in summer. During the continuous high temperature period in summer, both the concentrations and fractions of secondary aerosol compo-nents in PM2.5 were highly elevated, suggesting severe secondary pollution again. The prevailing wind was from South China Sea in summer, and the air quality was good. The prevailing wind in winter was from China's Mainland to the north, and the polluted air mass led to poor air quality.

This paper investigates a previously-ignored atmospheric circulation anomaly-di- pole structure anomaly in the arctic atmosphere, and its relationship with the winter sea ice mo- tion, based on analyses of the International Arctic Buoy Programme Data (1979―1998) and datasets from the National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) for the period of 1960―2.02. The dipole structure anomaly is the second-leading mode of EOF of monthly mean SLP north of 70°N during the winter season (Oct.―Mar.), which accounts for 13% of the variance. One of its two anomaly centers is over the Canadian Archipelago; the other is situated over northern Eurasia and the Siberian marginal seas. Due to the dipole structure anomaly’s strong meridionality, it becomes an important mechanism to drive both anomalous sea ice export out of the Arctic Basin and cold air outbreaks into the Barents Sea, the Nordic Seas and northern Europe.

The low signal to noise ratio (SNR) of functional MRI (fMRI) prefers more sensitive data analysis methods. Based on stationary wavelet transform and spectrum analysis, a new method with high detective sensitivity was developed for analyzing fMRI time series, which does not require any prior assumption of the characteristics of noises. In the proposed method, every component of fMRI time series in the different time-frequency scales of stationary wavelet transform was discerned by the spectrum analysis, then the components from noises were removed using the stationary wavelet transform, finally the components of real brain activation were detected by cross-correlation analysis. The results obtained from both simulated and in vivo visual experiments illustrated that the proposed method has much higher sensitivity than the traditional cross-correlation method.
