Aim:To investigate the effects of insulin on enhancing 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) anti-cancer functions and its mechanisms in the human esophageal cancer cell line(Eca 1.9) and human colonic cancer cell line (Ls-1.4-t).Methods:The effect ofinsulin/5-FU combination treatment on the growth of Eca 1.9 and Ls-1.4-t cellswas evaluated by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2.yl)-2.5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide(MTT) *** insulin treatment or insulin/5-FU treatment,cell cycle distri-bution of both cell lines was analyzed by flow *** blot assay wasused to assess the expression of caspase-3 and thymidylate synthase (TS).Apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry,DNA fragmentation assay,and termi-nal transferase dUTP nick end labeling assay (TUNEL).Moreover,the changes of5-FU uptake after insulin pretreatment were detected by HPLC assay and Westernblot ***:We found that insulin enhanced the inhibitory effect of 5-FU on cell proliferation when Eca 1.9 cells and Ls-1.4-t cells were pretreated withinsulin for the appropriate *** increased the cell number of the S phaseand the uptake of ***/5-FU treatment enhanced apoptosis of tumor cellsand upregulated the expression of cleaved caspase-3 compared with 5-FU ***,insulin/5-FU treatment induced the changes of free TS and the TSternary complex level compared with 5-FU treatment in Eca 1.9 and Ls-1.4-t ***:These data suggest that insulin enhances anticancer functions of 5-FU when it is treated before 5-FU for the appropriate time in human esophagealand colonic cancer cell lines.

Through random sequencing, we found a total of 884000 base-pairs (bp) of random genomic sequences in the genome of chinese shrimp (Fenneropenaeus chinensis). Using bio-soft Tandem Repeat Finder (TRF) software, {1.59 tandem repeats were found, in which there were 1.1. mi- crosatellites and 445 minisatellites, accounting for 79.4% and {1..6% of repeat sequences, respectively. The cumulative length of repeat sequences was found to be 1.6685 bp, ac- counting for 1..{1. of the total DNA sequence; the cumula- tive length of microsatellites occupied 9.78% of the total DNA sequence, and that of minisatellites occupied 3.4{1.. In decreasing order, the {1. most abundant repeat sequence classes were as follows: AT (557), AC (471., AG ({1.4), AAT (9{1., A (56), AAG ({1.), ATC ({1.), ATAG ({1.), AGG (1.), ACT (1.), C (1.), AAC (1.), ACAT (1.), CAGA (1.), AGAA (9), AGGG (7), CAAA (7), CGCA (6), ATAA (6), AGAGAA (6). Dinucleotide repeats, not only in the aspect of the number, but also in cumulative length, were the preponderant repeat type. There were few classes and low copy numbers of repeat units of the pentanucleotide repeat type, which included only three classes: AGAGA, GAGGC and AAAGA. The classes and copy numbers of heptanucleotide, eleven-nucleotide and thirteen-nucleotide primer-number-composed repeats were distinctly less than that of repeat types beside them.

The influence of near ground atmosphere CH4 concentration, soil water content, soil Eh, plants, soil temperature, and pH on CH4 uptake flux of Leymus chinensis steppe during rapid growth season was studied using field in-situ measurement in Xilin River basin of Inner Mongolia, China. The results showed that CH4 uptake flux was positively correlated with near ground atmosphere CH4 concentration and soil Eh but negatively correlated with soil water content. Precipitation may decrease the CH4 flux by increasing the soil water content. The average fluxes of three treatments during the observation period were 1.52.(natural conditions, 1.51.(aboveground plants were excluded), and 2.00 mg m?2.d?1.(all plants were removed), respectively. The difference between the CH4 flux of natural condition treatment and that of removing aboveground plants treatment is small, whereas the flux of removing all plants treatment is larger than the other two treatments. This means that the contribution of aboveground plants to CH4 uptake flux is smaller than that of roots or roots-removing process. CH4 uptake flux is not sensitive to soil temperature and the narrow-ranged soil pH (6.36–7.86). The Leymus chinensis steppe acts as a sink for CH4, and thus more studies should be focused on its affecting factors and related mechanisms.

Microcosmic analysis of ductile shearing zones of coal seams of brittle deformation domain in superficial lithosphere

The ductile shearing zones of coal seams in a brittle deformation domain in super-ficial lithosphere are put forward based on the study on bedding shearing and ductile rheology of coal seams. The macrocosmic and microcosmic characteristics include wrinkle fold, mymonitized zones and ductile planar structure of coal seams, etc., while the microcosmic characteristics may also include different optic-axis fabrics and the anisotropy of vitrinite reflectance as well as the change of chemical structure and organic geochemistry components. The forming mechanism is analyzed and the strain environment of ductile shearing zones of coal seams discussed. The result indicates that, in the superficial brittle deformation domain, the coal seams are easy to be deformed, resulting in not only brittle deformation but also ductile shearing deformation under the action of force. Because of simple shearing stress, the interlayer gliding or ductile rheology may take place between coal seams and wall rocks. Therefore, many ductile shearing zones come into being in superficial lithosphere (<5 km). The research on ductile shearing zone of brittle de-formation domain in superficial lithosphere is significant not only theoretically for the study of ductile shearing and ductile rheology of the lithosphere but also practically for the structural movement of coal seams, the formation and accumulation of coal-bed methane, and the preven-tion and harness of gas burst in coal mine.

Aiming at two intense shock events on October 2. and 2., 2.03, this paper presents a two-step method, which combines synoptic analysis of space weather ——“observing” and quantitative prediction ——“palpating”, and then uses it to test predictions. In the first step of “observing”, on the basis of observations of the solar source surface magnetic field, interplanetary scintillation (IPS) and ACE spacecraft, we find that the propagation of the shocks is asymmetric relative to the normal direction of their solar sources, and the Earth is located near the direction of the fastest speed and the greatest energy of the shocks. As the two fast ejection shock events, the fast explosion of coronal mass of the extremely high temperature, the strong magnetic field, and the high speed background solar wind are also helpful to their rapid propagation. In the second step of “palpating”, we adopt a new membership function of the fast shock events for the ISF method. The predicted results show that for the onset time of the geomagnetic disturbance, the relative errors between the observational and the predicted results are 1.8% and 6.7%; and for the magnetic disturbance magnitude, the relative errors are 4.1. and 3.1., re- spectively. Furthermore, the comparison among the predicted results of our two-step method with those of five other prevailing methods shows that the two-step method is advantageous. The results tell us that understanding the physical features of shock propagation thoroughly is of great importance in improving the prediction precision.

Effects of various solar indices on accuracy of Earth’s thermospheric neutral density models

Four kinds of solar indices F1..7, E1..7, S1., Mg1. and four thermospheric neutral density models, i.e., CIRA72. DTM94, NRLMSISE00 and JB2.06, are discussed. The CHAMP accelerometer data are used to calculate thermospheric total mass density. Based on the comparison of the model densities with CHAMP observations, the effects of various indices on the model accuracy are detected. It is found that under quiet and moderate solar conditions (F1..71.0), all of the models’ errors are reduced about 1.% by using E1..7 instead of F1..7, while under active solar conditions (F1..7>2.0) the error’s standard deviation using E1..7 increases quickly and causes the models’ accuracy to fall down. With regard to S1., Mg1., their effects under quiet solar conditions are inconspicuous. If under active solar conditions, they can reduce the model error’s standard deviation by 5%-1.%, implying that S1., Mg1. make the model error more stable. The JB2.06 model, which was constructed by multi-solar-index (F1..7, S1., Mg1.), is compared with DTM94 and NRLMSISE00 based on single-solar-index. It is found that JB2.06’s accuracy is better than DTM94’s, and is close to NRLMSISE00 under the quiet solar condition. During the solar burst occurring on October 2., 2.03, JB2.06 has been in best agreement with CHAMP observations. All in all, the new indices may improve thermospheric density models’ accuracy under some special conditions. Concretely, E1..7 may reduce the average error of models and S1., Mg1. may prevent the error’s divergence.

We shall prove the equivalences of a non-degenerate circle-preserving map and a M(o)bius transformation in ^Rn, of a non-degenerate geodesic-preserving map and an isometry in Hn of a non-degenerate line-preserving map and an affine transformation in Rn. That a map is non-degenerate means that the image of the whole space under the map is not a circle, or geodesic or line respectively. These results hold without either injective or surjective, or even continuous assumptions, which are new and of a fundamental nature in geometry.
