A number of lead-zinc sulphide deposits have been discovered in recent years in dolo- mitic rocks of the Upper Sinian Dengying Formation in the Dadu River valley region, Sichuan Province, China. The lead-zinc mineralization is closely associated with a black siliceous exhalite that has been traced over 50 km of strike. This makes Dadu River valley the most extensive stratiform non-ferrous sulphide horizon having been discovered to date in China. In a previous study by the first author (LIN), these deposits were recognised as belonging to the broad spectrum of lead-zinc sedimentary exhala- tive (SEDEX) deposits. In this paper, seismites and seismogenetic structures occurring in close association with the Dadu River valley mineralized zone are described. The close spatial and temporal relationship between the seismites and mineralization provides strong evidence for the hypothesis that the lead-zinc SEDEX deposits formed in direct response to earthquake activities around the Sinian-Cambrian boundary. The earthquakes are postulated to be an effective dynamic mechanism for triggering the upward migration of deep circulating ore fluids along synsedimentary growth faults and their exhalation onto the sea-floor to form the extensive deposits of stratiform lead-zinc sulphide ore.

Cycladophora davisiana (Radiolarian) contents are counted in two cores of the Ber-ing Sea and correlated well with the oxygen isotopic records of ice in the deep core obtained by the Greenland Ice Sheet Project II (GISP 2. and deep-sea sediments (SPECMAP) of the world oceans. Millennial scale climatic events, for example, Younge Dryas and B?lling/Aller?d events, Heinrich1 and Dansgaard-Oeschger1events, recorded by C. davisiana percents are distin-guished from Core B4-2. C. davisiana events b, c1, c2. d, e1 and e2. respectively, corresponding to oxygen isotopic 2.0, 3.1, 3.3, 4.0, 5.1 and 5.3, are identified from Core B2.9. High resolution re-cords of C. davisian are tuned to the oxygen isotopic records in GISP 2.and SPECMAP and the depth-age frameworks are established in the two cores, supplying a stratigraphic base for future paleoceanographic and paleoclimatic studies. High C. davisiana during the glacial periods in the two cores indicate that they can serve as a proxy of the glacial Subarctic Pacific Intermediate Water, which verifies the glacial Subarctic Pacific Intermediate Water brought from the Bering Sea.

In order to research the possibility of digital close-range photogrammetric surveying in small scale physical simulation experiment, physical model coinciding with engineering practice was constructed based on similar theory. The datum processing method and surveying precision of digital close-range photogrammetric were analyzed. And the function relationship between overburden subsidence factor qr and the ratio z/H of stratum horizon z and mining depth H was researched. The results show that surveying points position mean error along horizontal direction is ±0.131 mm and vertical direction is ±0.192.mm. Therefore, multi-taking station cross direction digital close-range photogrammetric can completely satisfy the precision need of physical simulation experiment. And the empirical formula can be utilized to represent evolution law of stratum subsidence factor.

Cathodoluminescence (CL) image analysis of zircon is a key step of mineral micro-area compositional investigation and U-(Th)-Pb dating. We introduce a system consisting of field emission ESEM and high performance cathodoluminescence. This system has obvious advantages in imaging resolution and CL spectrum. We acquired some zircon CL images and spectra to demonstrate the ability of this system. Our results show that this system has a great potential application to characterize and identify the genesis of zircon.

This paper describes for the first time the cornute stylophorans (Echinodermata) in China. The new material came from the Guole Formation of the Furongian (Late Cambrian) in the Guole area of Jingxi, Guangxi Province, South China. These new cornute specimens are preserved in situ and found along with well-preserved trilobites and brachiopods. One new species, Phyllocystis jingxiensis sp. nov., is proposed to accommodate these unusual materials. The new species is defined by the small, heart-shaped theca with the frame composed of ten narrow, smooth and thick marginal plates, three adoral plates and distinctive zygal and aulacophore. Both supracentrals and infracentrals are polygonal-outlined. The marginal plate M1' on the inferior face extends posteriorly to form zygal that possesses a broadened proximal end and the proximal portion joining with the conjunction between M4 and M5 on the inferior face. Aulacophore comprises ten segments at its proximal part and is conical at the middle part (named stylocone). Its distal portion is rather long and bears conspicuous ambulacrum grooves. Tectals are horizontally arranged on superior face and obliquely arranged on inferior face. Both cothurnopore and anal pyramid are vaguely seen on the right anterior corner and the extremity of theca's superior face.

Attention has been paid to the deformations in the south and north foreland basins of the Tianshan Mountains and their relations to the tectonic movements of the mountains. Based on the seismic data interpretation and field work,the tectonic features,tectonic styles,controlling factors of deformation,deformation time,and their relationships in the three tectonic units were comparably studied. The Ce-nozoic deformations in the two foreland basins were characterized by zonation from south to north,segmentation from west to east,and layering from deep to shallow. The tectonic styles are compres-sive ones,including both basement-involved and cover-detaching. The two foreland basins underwent several times of deformation in Cenozoic and the deformations were transmitted from the Tianshan orogen to the inner basin. The deformation dynamics of the south and north foreland basins of the Tianshan Mountains can be represented by dynamics of orogenic wedges. In terms of the deformations of the wedges with wave-like features,the concept of a wave orogenic wedge was put forward,and a double wave orogenic wedge model was established.

THE Yindongpo gold deposit, situated in northern Tongbei County, northern Qinling orogenic belt, is alarge-scale one controlled by the Heqianzhuang anticline that plunges northwestwards and dips northeastwards. The ore-bodies locates in the carbon layers belonging to the Neoproterozoic Waitoushan *** ore-forming periods can be distinguished: the pre-Mesozoic epithermal mineralization in primary sediment with metamorphic superposition and the Mesozoic epithermal-mesothermal mineralization related totectonomagmatic activities. The principal ore-forming period can be divided into four stages. The ore bodies consist of networked and brecciated quartz veins. Gold is mainly rich in the veinlet-type quartz veinsthat formed during the diagentic-metamorphism or syn-metamorphic hydrothermal period, but a little inthe coarse veins related to later tectonomagmatic activities. GOLD mineralization popularly occurs in Funiushan area. Based on the studies on more than 40 gold deposits or ore spots, it is shown that most of them are small in scale except the Pengou gold deposit, whichcan be developed into a medium one. The Pengou is a gold deposit of medium-low temperature hydrothermal type. 1 Geological setting The Funiushan gold mineralization zone lying in the contiguous region of Nanzhao, Fangcheng andLushan Counties, Henan Province, is stituated on the tectonic and geochemical boundary between theNorth China block and Qinling Orogenic belt, and transverses the two first-grade tectonic units. Thehost rocks are mainly the strata of Xionger group （Pt2./sub> ） and the Funiushan granitic batholith. The Penggougold deposit is just located on the large-scale fault of Xiatang-Guihe. A series of metamorphic rocks ofXionger Group outcroped in the north of the deposit. 2.The features of deposit The ore bodies mostly appear in thick plate with sag-and-swell variation. The gold-bearing alterationzone from upper to lower layers can be divided as granite→ pyritization and phyllic alteration→ alteredgranitic porphyry→quartz vein→pyritization and phyllic alteration→cataclastic granite with phyllic alteration, i. e. the upper and lower gold-bearing layers can be separated by the altered granite. Geoporphyrins, isolated from source rock, were analyzed on electron ionization mass spectrometry （EIMS） and Tandem mass spectrometry （MS/MS）. The spectrum of ElMS shows that the geoporphyrins are mainly composed of two types: DPEP and eito. Most of the porphyrin carbon numbers are greater than C32./sub>. The daughter spectra of the molecular ions (C34-36DPEPs) display the loss of methyl and ethyl groups, which indicate there are ethyl and propyl groups in the mother ions. The average condensed structural formulae, derived from the data of the spectra on MS/MS, have clearly shown the composition of the substituents on the porphyrin pyrrole ring, and the regular changes of the substituents reveal the characteristics of the dealkylation of the porphyrins in the geosphere.
