The aim of this work is to prove the partial regularity of the harmonic maps with potential. The main difficulty caused by the potential is how to find the equation satisfied by the scaling function. Under the assumption on the potential we can obtain the equation, however, for a general potential, even if it is smooth, the partial regularity is still open.

The hmr19 gene was cloned from Streptomyces hygroscopicus subsp. yingchengensis strain 10- 2., a bacterium strain producing agricultural antibiotics. Sequence similarity comparison indicates that hmr19 gene may encode a predicted protein with 14 putative transmembrane α-helical spanners, belonging to the drug:H+ antiporter-2.family of the major facilitator superfamily. The expression of hmr19 in the mycelium of strain 10-2. was detected by Western blotting analysis. Gene replacement technology was employed to construct an hmr19 disruption mutant. The growth inhibition test against different antibiotics indicated that the mutant strain was 5–2. fold more susceptible to tetracycline, vancomycin and mitomycin C than the parental wild type strain. The mutant took up tetracycline much faster and accumulated more antibiotics than the wild type strain 10-2.. While with the addition of an energy uncoupler, carbonyl cyanide m- chlorophenylhydrazone, the characteristics of the accumulation of [3H]tetracycline in these two strains were almost the same. It was thus concluded that hmr19 encoded a multidrug resistance efflux protein.

This study used the sequence of the mitochondrial Cytochrome b(Cytb)to estimate phylogenetic relationships among host Hepialidae insects of Cordyceps *** DNA of host insect was extracted from the dead larva head part of 18 cordyceps populations and 2.species of Hepialus,and the Cytb fragment of host insect was amplified with PCR *** nucleotide sequence alignments and their homologous sequences of 2. species host Hepialidae insects of Cordyceps sinensis were obtained from GenBank and were used to construct phylogenetic trees based on neighbor-joining *** results showed that genus Bipectilus diverged earlier than genus Hepialus and *** host insects of Cordyceps sinensis have multitudinous species with different morphological characteristics and geographical *** interspecific genetic differentiations are obvious in ***,the genus Hepialus might be considered as polyphyletic *** sequences have abundant variations among the host insects of Cordyceps sinensis on spe- cific and generic *** divergence rate of Cytb sequences among the species in Hepialus ranged from 0.2.% to 9.2.%,except that Hepialus pratensis and Hepialus jinshaensis have the same *** sequence can be used for species identification of host insects of Cordyceps sinensis,but further confirmation in more host insect species is *** obtain the Cytb sequence of host insect by ampli- fying DNA extracted from the head part of dead larva in cordyceps turns out to be an effective and accurate approach,which will be useful for studies on phylogeny and genetic structure of host insects of cordyceps populations,especially for analyzing relationships between C. sinensis and its host insects.

A developmentally retarded mutant (drm1) was identified from ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS)-mutagenized M2.seedsin Columbia (Col-0) genetic background. The drm1 flowers 109 d after sowing, with a whole life cycle of about 160 *** also shows a pleiotropic phenotype, e.g., slow germination and lower germination rate, lower growth rate, curlingleaves and abnormal floral organs. The drm1 mutation was a single recessive nuclear mutation, which was mapped tothe bottom of chromosome 5 and located within a region of 2.-30 kb around MXK3.1. There have been no mutantswith similar phenotypes reported in the literature, suggesting that DRM1 is a novel flowering promoting locus. Thefindings that the drm1 flowered lately under all photoperiod conditions and its late flowering phenotype was significantlyrestored by vernalization treatment suggest that the drm1 is a typical late flowering mutant and most likely associatedwith the autonomous flowering pathway. The conclusion was further confirmed by the revelation that the transcriptlevel of FLC was constantly upregulated in the drm1 at all the developmental phases examined, except for a very earlystage. Moreover, the transcript levels of two other important repressors, EMF and TFL1, were also upregulated in thedrm1, implying that the two repressors, along with FLC, seems to act in parallel pathways in the drm1 to regulateflowering as well as other aspects of floral development in a negatively additive way. This helps to explain why the drm1exhibits a much more severe late-flowering phenotype than most late-flowering mutants reported. It also implies that theDRM1 might act upstream of these repressors.

Cellular functions, either under the normal or pathological conditions or under different stresses, are the results of the coordinated action of multiple proteins interacting in macromolecular complexes or assemblies. The precise determination of the specific composition of protein complexes, especially using scalable and high-throughput methods, represents a systematic approach toward revealing particular cellular biological functions. In this regard, the direct profiling protein-protein interactions (PPIs) represent an efficient way to dissect functional pathways for revealing novel protein functions. In this review, we illustrate the technological evolution for the large-scale and precise identification of PPIs toward higher physiologically relevant accuracy. These techniques aim at improving the efficiency of complex pull-down, the signal specificity and accuracy in distinguishing specific PPIs, and the accuracy of identifying physiological relevant PPIs. A newly developed streamline proteomic approach for mapping the binary relationship of PPIs in a protein complex is introduced.
