This paper reports the study of ancient potteries unearthed from the Guangfulin site in shanghai. From the external features of these potteries, archeologists can classify them into two different cultural types: Liangzhu culture (local culture) and a new culture which might be derived elsewhere, but they can not recognize whether they were produced in the same place. Proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) and instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) were used to measure the chemical compositions of the samples and the results were analyzed using multivariate statistics. We found that the two methods can complement each other and their database can be mutually referenced in the study of ancient potteries. Experimental results show that the compositions of the potteries from the two cultural types are different, which means that the materials for ancient potteries of new culture originate from elsewhere. This supports the archaeologists’ speculation that a group of ancient people migrated to shanghai from some other places 4000 years ago.

This paper proposes a better method for determining the fixed point'sneighborhood in which the system remain stable when subjected to a linear law. Thevalidity of this method is shown by a theorem on effective local control of nonlinear,chaotic dynamical system, with numerical confirmation. The ways of implementing theobtained theorem in practice are proposed.

In this paper the semilinear wave equation with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition having a locally distributed controller is considered, and the rapid exact controllability of this system is obtained by changing the shape and/or the location of the controller under proper conditions. For this purpose, the author derives an (rapid) observability inequality for wave equations with linear time-variant potential by means of the energy estimate. The main difference of the method from the previous ones is that any unique continuation property of the corresponding linear time-variant wave equations is not needed.

This paper examines moral hazard problems in team setting. It is shown that there may exist budget balancing Nash equilibrium sharing rules that yield Pareto optimal (first best) efficiency provided that any of the following three conditions is satisfied: if peer pressure plays the role of mutual monitoring, or if agents over estimate the effects of their actions on jointed production, or if agents are sufficiently risk averse. The role played by the monitors in inducing first best efficiency is also discussed.

For the standard Lagrangian in classical mechanics, which is defined as the kinetic energy of the system minus its potential energy, we study the rate of convergence of the corresponding Lax-Oleinik semigroup. Under the assumption that the unique global minimum point of the Lagrangian is a degenerate fixed point, we provide an upper bound estimate of the rate of convergence of the semigroup.

In this paper. we use the improved closed-loop control method to realizethat the discrete chaotic system stabilizes to any arbitrarily chosen dynamics. We givethe strict proof as well as the general result of 2.dimensional system to show the feasibiltyof our method and criterion. Furthermore, the well-known Henon system is chosen foran example and the corresponding computer simulation results are given to support ourmethod.

The Cre-loxP system was introduced in theproduction of recombinant AAV (rAAV). Defective adenovi-rus AdLC was used as the helper virus. While doing themass production of recombinant AAV carrying EGFP orhuman clotting factor Ⅸ (hFⅨ) gene, the generation ofhelper virus was significantly limited, it increased the sim-plicity of rAAV purification. The results from in vivo study demonstrated the superiority of this method. This systemprovides a novel approach for the application of rAAV sys-tem in gene therapy.
