Aim:HMGB 1 （high-mobility group box-1） is a nuclear protein containing a con-sensus RB （retinoblastoma）-binding LXCXE *** this study,we studied thepotential association of HMGB 1 and RB and the in vitro and in vivo activities ofHMGB 1 in human breast cancer ***:The protein-protein interactionwas determined by immunoprecipitation-Western blotting and glutathione-S-trans-ferase capture assays;cell growth and radiosensitivity were examined by cellcounts,MTT assay,and clonogenic assay;cell cycle progression and apoptosiswere evaluated using flow cytometry;and the antitumor activity of HMGB 1 wasexamined with tumor xenografts in nude ***:HMGB 1 was associatedwith RB via a LXCXE motif-dependent *** 1 enhanced the abilityof RB for E2. and cyclin A transcription *** increased expression ofHMGB 1 conferred an altered phenotypes characterized by the suppression of cellgrowth;G1arrest and apoptosis was induced in MCF-7 cells containing the wild-type retinoblastoma （Rb） gene,but showed no activities in BT-549 cells contain-ing the Rb gene *** HMGB 1-induced apoptosis accompanied by caspase3 activation and PARP (poly（ADP-ribose）polymerase) *** 1 elevatedthe radiosensitivity of breast cancer cells in both the MCF-7 and BT-549 cell *** enhanced expression of HMGB 1 caused a suppression of growth of MCF-7tumor xenografts in nude mice,while LXCXE-defective HMGB 1 completely lostantitumor growth ***:HMGB 1 functions as a tumor suppressorand radiosensitizer in breast cancer.A HMGB 1-RB interaction is critical for theHMGB 1-mediated transcriptional repression,cell growth inhibition,G1cell cyclearrest,apoptosis induction,and tumor growth suppression,but is not required ***,it may be possible to design new therapies for thetreatment of breast cancer that exert their effects by modulating the HMGB 1 andRB regulatory pathway and HMGB 1-related gene therapy.

TIME-dependent （TD） quantum wave packet theory, with a relatively small amount of computational effort, has been widely used in quantum dynamics calculation of atom and molecule reaction scattering. Many computational scaling advantages of the TD method can be found apparently in polyatomic system. In this note, by using the TD quantum wave packet method with the potential-averaged 5D model （PA5D）, we give the calculated results of reaction probabilities, cross sections and rate constants for the H2./sub> + OD reaction. Coating with viscous formulations has been essential in numerous industries as it can be a means for providing functionalization, additional properties, as well as other benefits. However, there have been scarce studies that have investigated and proposed methodologies in literature. Continuous coating of powders with viscous liquids poses as a promising technology, which has been mentioned in some studies, but has not yet been thoroughly investigated. This paper employs the use of image processing and analysis, in combination with statistical analysis of particles to evaluate the effectiveness of foams and liquids as a means of coating powder beds. Two different sizes of twin screw mixers that are working in continuous operation are employed, and a new continuous foaming device is fabricated and used for the experiments of coating. The effect of materials and process parameters (as for example rotational speed, and flowrate) on the quality of coating are investigated. Image analysis is used to assess the coating quality. The results clearly showcase the potential of using twin screw mixers for coating purposes and not only for mixing. The hypothesis that using large bubble foams to improve the coating of viscous liquids on particles is proven correct, as they provide higher quality coatings compared to their equivalent liquids, when used in the twin screw mixer. Surprisingly, using a larger scale twin screw mixer, does not show a substantial effect on the mixing, regarding quality, however there is still a requirement for mix optimization for achieving scale-up of this process. These results provide a new pathway for coating powders with viscous formulations in industrial applications, requiring less energy and effort in this process, and can pave the way towards introducing more sustainable industrial methodologies for coating.

We articulate a novel approach to geometric model completion via interactive sketches in this ***,the initial incomplete model (with holes) is decomposed into a base model and a high-frequency component,which represents global rough shape and geometric details,*** then repair the base model via smooth hole-filling,and compute the geometry detail image using high frequency *** novel element of our approach is that we allow users to interactively sketch a few structural curves that span across hole regions,with a goal to repair both local geometric details and global *** the help of local parameterization,we convert detailed geometry into gradient-domain images which can propagate along user-specified *** integrating recovered gradient-domain images and base shape,we can generate a complete model that faithfully recovers both global structure and local *** salient contribution of this paper is the unified approach for user interaction,global structure,and geometry details towards high-fidelity model *** demonstrate our new approach using a number of examples that exhibit salient global structure as well as local geometry details.

The early stages of a spilling breaking water wave leading to the formation of a bulge on the forward face of the wave are investigated. In this study, simultaneous space-time measurements of the free-surface elevation of a spilling breaking water wave are recorded and analyzed. The analysis, carried out in the frame of reference moving with the crest of the wave,reveals that the formation of the bulge is due to the presence of a shock-like mode. In the previous frame of reference, the shock itself is unsteady but its (spatial) location is time independent and coincides with the 'toe' of the bulge. As time increases, the shock undergoes a flip (a reflection symmetry) with respect to the midpoint of our time interval. Such a flip is responsible for an abrupt increase of the wave steepe-ness, which will lead to wave breaking at later times. Following these observations, we present a two-dimensional quantitative model which reproduces both the formation of the bulge and the sudden increase of the wave steepeness.

The embedded boundary method for solving elliptic and parabolic problems in geometrically complex domains using Cartesian meshes by Johansen and Colella （1998, J. Comput. Phys. 147, 60） has been extended for elliptic and parabolic problems with interior boundaries or interfaces of discontinuities of material properties or solutions. Second order accuracy is achieved in space and time for both stationary and moving interface problems. The method is conservative for elliptic and parabolic problems with fixed interfaces. Based on this method, a front tracking algorithm for the Stefan problem has been developed. The accuracy of the method is measured through comparison with exact solution to a two-dimensional Stefan problem. The algorithm has been used for the study of melting and solidification problems.
