The interannual variability of Antarctic Oscillation (AAO) and its influence on East Asian climate during both boreal winter and spring are addressed. The results show that the positive AAO anomaly decreases the cold activity over East Asia during both boreal winter and spring. AAO-related barotropic meridional teleconnection from Antarctic to Arctic is found through analysis of mean me- ridional circulations. This meridional teleconnection is remarkable over Eurasia during boreal winter and over the Pacific Ocean during boreal spring. The results also show that zonal mean zonal wind at high latitudes in Southern Hemisphere has well positive correlation with that of Eurasia during boreal winter and has negative correlation with Pacific North American teleconnection (PNA) during boreal spring, which again display the meridional teleconnection. Thus, local meridional teleconnection is a possible linkage for interaction of circulations at mid-high latitudes between both hemispheres.

Let S be an ideal nil-extension of a completely regular semigroup K by a nil semigroup Q with zero. A concept of admissible congruence pairs (δ,ω) of S is introduced, where δ and ω are a congruence on Q and a congruence on K respectively. It is proved that every congruence on S can be uniquely respresented by an admissible congruence pair (δ,ω) of S. Suppose that ρ K denotes the Rees congruence induced by the ideal K of S. Then it is shown that for any congruence σ on S,a mapping Γ:σ|→(σ Q,σ K) is an order-preserving bijection from the set of all congruences on S onto the set of all admissible congruence pairs of S,where σ K is the restriction of σ to K and σ Q=(σ∨ρ K)/ρ K. Moreover,the lattice of congruences of S is also discussed. As a special case,every congruence on completely Archimedean semigroups S is described by an admissible quarterple of S. The following question is asked: Is the lattice of congruences of the completely Archimedean semigroup a semimodular lattice?

The relationship between the sea ice cover in the North Pacific and the typhoon frequency has been studied in this paper. It follows that the index for the sea ice cover in the North Pacific (ISA) both in December-January-February (DJF) and in March-April-May (MAM) is negatively correlated with annual typhoon number over the western North Pacific (TNWNP) during 1.65―2.04, with correlation coeffi-cients of -0.42.and -0.49 respectively (above 99% significant level). Large sea ice cover in the North Pacific tends to decrease TNWNP. Positive ISA (MAM) is associated with the tropical circulation and SST anomalies in the North Pacific, which may lead to unfavorable dynamic and thermal conditions for typhoon genesis over WNP from June to October (JJASO). The variability of the atmospheric circula-tion over the North Pacific, associated with the ISA anomaly in MAM is connected to the tropical at-mospheric circulation variability in MAM via the teleconnection wave train. Besides, as the tropical circulation has strong seasonal persistency from the MAM to JJASO, thus, the ISA in MAM-related variability of the tropical atmospheric circulation as well as the SST can affect the typhoon activity over the western North Pacific.

Based on the daily outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) data from National Oceanic and At- mospheric Administration (NOAA) satellites, the Cli- mate Prediction Center’s merged analysis of pre- cipitation (CMAP) data and the National Centers for Environmental Prediction/National Center for At- mospheric Research (NCEP/NCAR) reanalysis dataset, the mean intraseasonal variability of the Asian summer monsoon (ASM) is investigated by using power spectrum analysis, band-pass filter, and diagnostic analyses. The processes of the onset and advance of monsoon over the southern part of Indo- china Peninsula, the east coast of Bay of Bengal, the South china Sea and the Indian subcontinent are explored. It is found that there is an abrupt change in OLR, precipitation and zonal wind during the onset and advance of the ASM. It is also indicated that the southern part of Indochina Peninsula and the adja- cent Andaman Sea is the region where the earliest onset of the ASM occurs in the 2.d pentad of May.

The reaction of 3,6-di-(3-methyl-pyridin-2.yI)-s-tetrazine (DMPTZ, II) with CeIII salt [Ce(NO3)3 · 6H2.] generates a new ligand, N-(3-methyl-pyridin-2.yl)-formimidoyl-(3-methyl-pyridin-2.yl) hydrazone (L), and forms a new complex: a mononuclear complex [Ce(L)(NO3)2.(H2.)3] · NO3 (III). Crystal data for III: space group P-1. with a = 0.71.3(4) nm, b = 1.1.39(2. nm, c = 1.4572.3) nm, α= 1.2.1.(2.°, β= 99.81.3)°, γ= 91.1.(3)°, Z = 2. V = 1.1..6(7) nm3, μ = 2.1.0} mm?1.and F(000) = 630. L acts as a tri-dentate chelating ligand in III. There are 1. coordination sites around Ce3+ of III, which are respectively occupied by seven oxygen atoms (four from two nitrate anions and three from three H2. molecules) and three nitrogen atoms (all from L). The cerium atom and three chelating nitrogen atoms are coplanar. The mechanism of the metal assisted decomposition is discussed briefly.

The influences of Ca substitution for Ml and surface treatment on electrochemical performances of Ml 1.0- x Ca x Ni 4.0 Co 0.6 Al 0.4 hydrogen storage alloy electrode were investigated. Ca substitution with x 2.for Ml could improve its discharge capacity, but Ca substitution with x >0.2.could decrease the capacity. It was also found that Ca substitution deteriorates the electrocatalytic activity, high rate dischargeability and cycling durability of the alloy electrode. In order to improve these properties of Ml 1.0- x Ca x Ni 4.0 Co 0.6 Al 0.4 alloy electrode, the alloy was treated in 6 mol/L KOH+0.02.mol/L KBH 4 solution. In this paper,we study nonthermal high energy radiation from old rotation-powered pulsars with ages greater than 1.6 yr based on the revised outer gap *** this model,the inclination angle and geometry of the magnetic field have been taken into account,and the fractional size f of the outer gap is determined by the electron/positron pair production *** cascade process caused by the back-flowing particles moving from the outer gap to the star will produce the observed nonthermal X-ray emission,and the relativistic particles accelerated in the outer gap will produce gamma-rays via curvature *** nine old pulsars which have been detected to have nonthermal X-rays,we first use the observed nonthermal X-ray emission to estimate reasonable inclination angles,and then estimate their gamma-ray *** also study the possibilities of gamma-ray emissions from other old rotation-powered *** compare our predicted gamma-ray flux with the sensitivities of AGILE and Fermi.
