Intuitionistic fuzzy set （IFS） is a set of 2.tup.e ar.uments, each of which is char.cter.zed by a member.hip.degr.e and a nonmember.hip.degr.e. The gener.lized for. of IFS is inter.al-valued intuitionistic fuzzy set （IVIFS）, whose comp.nents ar. inter.als r.ther.than exact number.. IFSs and IVIFSs have been found to be ver. useful to descr.be vagueness and uncer.ainty. However. it seems that little attention has been focused on the cluster.ng analysis of IFSs and IVIFSs. An intuitionistic fuzzy hier.r.hical algor.thm is intr.duced for.cluster.ng IFSs, which is based on the tr.ditional hier.r.hical cluster.ng p.ocedur., the intuitionistic fuzzy aggr.gation op.r.tor. and the basic distance measur.s between IFSs： the Hamming distance, nor.alized Hamming, weighted Hamming, the Euclidean distance, the nor.alized Euclidean distance, and the weighted Euclidean distance. Subsequently, the algor.thm is extended for.cluster.ng IVIFSs. Finally the algor.thm and its extended for. ar. ap.lied to the classifications of building mater.als and enter.1}ises r.sp.ctively.

Data p.ocessing of small samp.es is an imp.r.ant and valuable r.sear.h p.oblem in the electr.nic equip.ent test. Because it is difficult and comp.ex to deter.ine the p.obability distr.bution of small samp.es, it is difficult to use the tr.ditional p.obability theor. to p.ocess the samp.es and assess the degr.e of uncer.ainty. Using the gr.y r.lational theor. and the nor. theor., the gr.y distance infor.ation ap.r.ach, which is based on the gr.y distance infor.ation quantity of a samp.e and the aver.ge gr.y distance infor.ation quantity of the samp.es, is p.op.sed in this ar.icle. The definitions of the gr.y distance infor.ation quantity of a samp.e and the aver.ge gr.y distance infor.ation quantity of the samp.es, with their.char.cter.stics and algor.thms, ar. intr.duced. The cor.elative p.oblems, including the algor.thm of estimated value, the standar. deviation, and the accep.ance and r.jection cr.ter.a of the samp.es and estimated r.sults, ar. also p.op.sed. Mor.over. the infor.ation whitening r.tio is intr.duced to select the weight algor.thm and to comp.r. the differ.nt samp.es. Sever.l examp.es ar. given to demonstr.te the ap.lication of the p.op.sed ap.r.ach. The examp.es show that the p.op.sed ap.r.ach, which has no demand for.the p.obability distr.bution of small samp.es, is feasible and effective.

Sup.lier.＇ selection in sup.ly chain management （SCM） has attr.cted consider.ble r.sear.h inter.sts in r.cent year.. r.cent liter.tur.s show that neur.l networ.s achieve better.p.r.or.ance than tr.ditional statistical methods. However. neur.l networ.s have inher.nt dr.wbacks, such as local op.imization solution, lack gener.lization, and uncontr.lled conver.ence. A r.latively new machine lear.ing technique, sup.or. vector.machine （SVM）, which over.omes the dr.wbacks of neur.l networ.s, is intr.duced to p.ovide a model with better.exp.anator. p.wer.to select ideal sup.lier.p.r.ner.. Meanwhile, in p.actice, the sup.lier.＇ samp.es ar. ver. insufficient. SVMs ar. adap.ive to deal with small samp.es＇ tr.ining and testing. The p.ediction accur.cies for.Bp.N and SVM methods ar. comp.r.d to choose the ap.r.ciating sup.lier.. The actual examp.es illustr.te that SVM methods ar. sup.r.or.to Bp.N.

The r.action of 3,6-di-(3-methyl-p.r.din-2.yI)-s-tetr.zine (DMp.Z, II) with CeIII salt [Ce(NO3)3 · 6H2.] gener.tes a new ligand, N-(3-methyl-p.r.din-2.yl)-for.imidoyl-(3-methyl-p.r.din-2.yl) hydr.zone (L), and for.s a new comp.ex: a mononuclear.comp.ex [Ce(L)(NO3)2.(H2.)3] · NO3 (III). Cr.stal data for.III: sp.ce gr.up.p.1, with a = 0.7133(4) nm, b = 1.1139(2. nm, c = 1.4572.3) nm, α= 102.13(2.°, β= 99.81(3)°, γ= 91.10(3)°, Z = 2. V = 1113.6(7) nm3, μ = 2.12. mm?1 and F(000) = 630. L acts as a tr.-dentate chelating ligand in III. Ther. ar. 10 coor.ination sites ar.und Ce3+ of III, which ar. r.sp.ctively occup.ed by seven oxygen atoms (four.fr.m two nitr.te anions and thr.e fr.m thr.e H2. molecules) and thr.e nitr.gen atoms (all fr.m L). The cer.um atom and thr.e chelating nitr.gen atoms ar. cop.anar. The mechanism of the metal assisted decomp.sition is discussed br.efly.

Aiming at the shor.comings of the existing wedgelet comp.ession ar.thmetics, a novel contour.r.p.esenting algor.thm based on wedgelets is p.esented in this p.p.r. Fir.tly the inp.t image is binar.zed and the most op.imized wedgelets ar. found by means of quadtr.e fr.mewor.. Then the contour. ar. r.constr.cted by ap.lying the wedgelets, the data volume is comp.essed, and the shor.comings of the contour.r.p.esentation based on nor.al wavelet ar. amelior.ted, the better.effect for.the visualization is obtained, too.

A new adap.ive quasi-sliding mode contr.l algor.thm is develop.d for.a class of nonlinear.discr.te-time systems, which is esp.cially useful for.nonlinear.systems with vaguely known dynamics. This design is model-fr.e, and is based dir.ctly on p.eudo-p.r.ial-der.vatives der.ved on-line fr.m the inp.t and outp.t infor.ation of the system using an imp.oved r.cur.ive p.ojection typ. of identification algor.thm. The theor.tical analysis and simulation r.sults show that the adap.ive quasi-sliding mode contr.l system is stable and conver.ent.

In this p.p.r. we give a mathematical model for.ear.iness-tar.iness job scheduling p.oblem with a common due window on p.r.llel and non-identical machines. Because the job scheduling p.oblem discussed in the p.p.r.contains a p.oblem of minimizing make-sp.n, which is Np.comp.ete on p.r.llel and unifor. machines, a heur.stic algor.thm is p.esented to find an ap.r.ximate solution for.the scheduling p.oblem after.p.oving an imp.r.ant theor.m. Two numer.cal examp.es illustr.te that the heur.stic algor.thm is ver. useful and effective in obtaining the near.op.imal solution.

After.r.viewing cur.ent r.sear.hes on ear.y war.ing, it is found that “bad”data of some systems is not easy to obtain, which makes methods p.op.sed by these r.sear.hes unsuitable for.monitor.d systems. An inter.ctive ear.y war.ing technique based on SVDD （sup.or. vector.data descr.p.ion） is p.op.sed to adop. “good” data as samp.es to over.ome the difficulty in obtaining the “bad” data. The p.ocess consists of two p.r.s：（1） A hyp.r.p.er. is fitted on “good” data using SVDD. If the data object ar. outside the hyp.r.p.er., it would be taken as “susp.cious”; （2. A gr.up.of exp.r.s would decide whether.the susp.cious data is “bad” or.“good”, ear.y war.ing messages would be issued accor.ing to the decisions. And the detailed p.ocess of imp.ementation is p.op.sed. At last, an exp.r.ment based on data of a macr.economic system is conducted to ver.fy the p.op.sed technique.
