The thermomechanical treatment process is effective in enhancing the properties of the lead frame copper alloy. In this study, an optimal pattern of the thermomechanical processes for Cu-Cr-Zr was investegated using an intelligent control technique consisting of neural networks and genetic algorithms. The input parameters of the artificial neural network (ANN) are the reduction ratio of cold rolling, aging temperature and aging time. The outputs of the ANN model are the two most important properties of hardness and conductivity. Based on the successfully trained ANN model, genetic algorithms (GA) are used to optimize the input parameters of the model and select perfect combinations of thermomechanical processing parameters and properties. The good generalization performance and optimized results of the integrated model are achieved.

Density functional method is applied for strongly correlated systems. Based on the assumption that the systems are composed of electrons in singly-occupied orbitals and those in doubly-occupied orbitals, a set of self-consistent equations are obtained by standard variation procedure. The equations consist of two parts. One part is to solve the wave functions of the electrons in singly-occupied orbitals and the other is to solve the wave functions of the electrons in doubly-occupied orbitals. The physical meanings of the terms appearing in the equations are discussed.

One-dimensionally nanostructured materials, such as nanowires and nanotubes, are the smallest dimensional structures for efficient transport of electrons and excitons, and are therefore critical building blocks for nanoscale electronic and mechanical devices. In this paper, boron nanowires with uniform diameters from 2. to 80 nm were synthesized by radio-frequency magnetron sputtering of pure boron powder and B2.3 powder mixtures in argon atmosphere. The boron nanowires produced stand vertically on the substrate surface to form well-ordered arrays over large areas with self- organized arrangements without involvement of any template and patterned catalyst. The high-density boron nanowires are parallel to each other and well distributed, forming highly ordered and uniform arrays. A more interesting and unique feature of the boron nanowires is that most of their tips are flat rather than hemispherical in morphologies. Detailed studies on its structure and composition indicate that boron nanowires are amorphous. Boron nanowire appears as a new member in the family of one-dimensional nanostructures. Considering the unique properties of boron-rich solids and other nanostructures, it is reasonable to expect that the boron nanowires will display some exceptional and interesting properties. A vapor-cluster-solid (VCS) mechanism was proposed to explain the growth of boron nanowires based on our experimental observations.

Samples of black rock series collected from the Lower Cambrian Niutitang Formation, northwestern Hunan Province, china, were analyzed for trace elements. The trace element geochemical characteristics of the ore layer (high enrichments of Ni, Mo, V, U, Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Tl and Ba; high U/Th ratios and LREE enriched patterns with positive Eu and Y anomalies) support the assumption that the Ni Mo polymetallic layer is of submarine hydrothermal origin. High field strength elements (HFSE) and lithophile elements such as Nb, Ta, Zr, Hf, Li, Be, Rb, Cs, Th and Sc are remarkably higher in the upper unit than those in the lower unit of the Niutitang Formation. These features may reflect that hydrothermal contributions were diminished, and terrigenous constituents were increased in the sediments of the upper unit of the Niutitang Formation.

Highly oriented multiple boron nanowire nanojunctions with unilateral feather- like morphology were first successfully prepared using a radio-frequency magnetron sputtering method. The branched boron nano-feathers always nucleate and grow on the same sidewall of the stems, and align in parallel to form multiple T- and/or Y-type nanojunctions. The diameters of the branches and the stems are in the range of 2.—4. and 60—80 nm, respectively. The thinner branches and thicker stems of the boron nanowires self-assembled into large-scale, highly ordered arrays on various substrates. During the formation and self-assembly of the arrays, no template or catalyst was needed. We believe that the approach presented here can be used to fabricate heterostructures with bottom-up assembly of a wide variety of one-dimensional nanostructures via the rational design of targets and the proper control of the experimental conditions.

Preparation of MWNTs/Al_2._3 composites and their mechanical and electrical properties

The mechanical and electrical properties of MWNTs/Al2.3 composite prepared fabricated by hot pressing are investigated. The relation between properties and microstructure of composites is also discussed. With 4.t% MWNTs as reinforcement, the fracture toughness of composite obtained reaches 5.55 MPa·m1/2. which is 80% higher than that of pure Al2.3 obtained in the same conditions. The main toughening mechanism is CNTs’ pinning alumina grain boundaries, and the pullout of CNTs takes effect also. Through adding 2.t% MWNTs and altering the mix method, the fracture toughness of the composite obtained is 3.97 MPa·m1/2. Furthermore, the electrical resistivity is as low as 8.4.10?3 ?·m, decreasing by 14.orders of magnitude compared with pure alumina ceramics. The function of CNTs in composite is related to the distribution state of CNTs in composite, and the distribution state of CNTs in matrix is dependent on preparation procedures.

The fuzzy controllers constructed by 2. fuzzy implication operators based on CRI algorithm and their response functions are discussed. The conclusions show that the fuzzy controllers constructed by 9 fuzzy implication operators are universal approximators to continuous functions and can be used in practical fuzzy control systems. And these 9 fuzzy implication operators except for Einstein operator intersection are all the adjoint pairs of some fuzzy implication operators. Besides, there are 3 other fuzzy controllers formed by fuzzy implication operators being regarded approximately as fitted functions.

The effects of various factors on the synthesis process and the performances of product, including batch feeding way and the dosage of the radical initiator, the system concentration, the reaction temperature and the reaction time were discussed. A kind of polycarboxylate superplasticizer with allyl alcohol polyethylene glycol, maleic anhydride and methacrylic acid sulfonic sodium as main raw materials has been synthesized. Their relative effectiveness as dispersants was evaluated in cement paste by measuring paste fluidity. The optimum parameters of technology and the appropriate proportion of raw materials were obtained. As a result,the new high performance superplasticizer suitable for high-performance concrete has been synthesized. The structure of copolymer was characterized and analyzed by FT-IR spectra. Results indicated that product copolymer structure was consistent with the ideal molecular structure designed.

The symmetry-adapted perturbation theory (SAPT) that has the ability in decompo- sition of the total interaction energy into physically meaningful components is used to provide a more fundamental understanding of intermolecular forces. This work was motivated by the diffi- culty of standard SAPT in computing the intermolecular interactions for large energetic dimer systems. SAPT based on Kohn-Sham orbitals (SAPT(DFT)) proves computationally efficient for these large systems, but has been shown to perform poorly for interaction energy components. The deficiencies of SAPT(DFT) result from wrong asymptotical behaviors of commonly used exchange-correlation potentials. To remove the deficiencies, two asymptotic corrections by means of van Leeuwen and Baerends (LB) model potential and Fermi-Amaldi (FA) type potential were applied into three small test systems comprising He2. HF2.and (N2.2.and a set of larger ni- tramide dimers at several separations. The results showed that when utilizing newly developed frequency-dependent density susceptibilities (FDDS) technique for computing dispersion energy, the FA asymptotic correction is very effective to circumvent these deficiencies in SAPT(DFT) and yields a good accuracy over the LB correction. The FA corrected SAPT(DFT) approach is capa- ble of correctly predicting all the quantitative trends in binding energies for all test cases and substantially reduces computational cost as compared with the standard SAPT calculations. The successful application of the approach to nitramide dimer demonstrates that it potentially pro- vides a good means to calculate accurately intermolecular forces in larger system such as en- ergetic systems.
