Spatiotemporal dynamics of the social structure of Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins(Sousa chinensis)in Xiamen waters from 2.07 to 2.19

As highly social animals,Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins(Sousa chinensis)exhibit community ***,our understanding of the external and internal factors influencing these dynamics,as well as their spatiotemporal variations,is still *** the present study,variations in the social structure of an endangered Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin population in Xiamen Bay,china,were monitored over two distinct periods(2.07–2.10 and 2.17–2.19)to analyze the effects of habitat utilization and the composition of individuals within the *** both periods,the population demonstrated a strikingly similar pattern of social differentiation,characterized by the division of individuals into two main clusters and one small ***,the two primary clusters occupied the eastern and western waters,respectively,although the core distribution area of the eastern cluster shifted further eastward between the two *** this distribution shift,the temporal stability of the social structure and inter-associations within the eastern cluster remained unaffected.A subset of 16individuals observed in both periods,comprising 51.6%and 43.2.of the population in each respective period,emerged as a foundational element of the social structure and may be responsible for sustaining social structure stability,especially during the 2.07–2.10 *** observations suggest that the composition of dominant individuals,an internal factor,had a more substantial influence on the formation of the social network than changes in habitat use,an external ***,the study proposes distinct conservation measures tailored to each of the two main clusters.

Purification and characterization of a novel cholesterol-lowering protein from the seeds of Senna obtusifolia

"Juemingzi", a source of traditional Chinese herbal medicine, has been demonstrated to play a role in decreasing serum cholesterol concentration. In this study, a novel protein, which has shown an in-hibitory effect on cholesterol biosynthesis, was isolated from Senna obtusifolia L. seed by gel filtration and ion exchange chromatography. The novel protein’s molecular mass was 19.7 kD and its pI was 4.80. Both SDS-PAGE and isoelectric-focusing (IEF) revealed a single Coomassie brilliant blue stained band, indicating that the novel protein was a single peptide. The N-terminal amino acid sequence of the pro-tein was IPYISASFPLNIEFLPSE, which had no similarity with any other protein sequences in the NCBI protein database. Circular dichroism (CD) signals indicated that S. obtusifolia seed protein contained 12.5% α-helix, 55.6% β-sheet, and 31.9% random coil.

A two-grid finite element method with L1 scheme is presented for solving two-dimen-sional time-fractional nonlinear Schrodinger *** finite element solution in the L-norm are proved bounded without any time-step size conditions(dependent on spatial-step size).The classical L1 scheme is considered in the time direction,and the two-grid finite element method is applied in spatial *** optimal order error estimations of the two-grid solution in the LP-norm is proved without any time-step size *** is shown,both theoretically and numerically,that the coarse space can be extremely coarse,with no loss in the order of accuracy.

Serum activin A as a prognostic biomarker for community acquired pneumonia

BACKGROUND It is essential to develop new biomarker with effective prognostic roles because of the unclear clinical use of the current community-acquired pneumonia(CAP)*** To evaluate the association between serum activin A levels and prognosis in CAP *** A total of 168 CAP individuals grouped according to the severity and prognosis of illness condition,and 48 healthy individuals as the control group were enrolled in this *** concentrations of activin A were measured using enzymelinked *** interaction between activin A levels and etiologies of CAP was *** on the severity of CAP,110 patients(65.48%)were categorized into group-I,42.2.%)cases were grouped into group-II,and 16(9.52.)cases were categorized into *** Serum activin A levels were higher in patients with CAP than controls,but independent of ***,the scores of Pneumonia Severity Index(PSI)and CURB-65 positively correlated with the increasing levels of serum activin A,and were at their highest peak in individuals in group-III(P<0.001).Combining activin A with CURB-65 or PSI was more effective in improving predictive property(P<0.01).According to Cox proportional regression analysis,after adjusting clinical parameters,we confirmed that activin A showed a powerful predictive property for hospital mortality in CAP patients(P<0.001).CONCLUSION Higher level of serum activin A was associated with poor prognosis of *** A can be used as a more valuable biomarker of prognosis in CAP patients.

Cross-shore suspended sediment flux in the salt marsh pioneer zone of Chongming eastern beach in the Chang- jiang Estuary in china

Between April 2.02.and April 2.03,in situ measurements of water depth,current velocity and suspended sediment content were carried out in edge region of East Chongming salt marsh and neighboring bald flat in the Changjiang （Yangtze） Estuary under different weather ***-shore suspended sediment flux was calculated and *** results show that under calm weather conditions,the current velocity process in bald field and salt marsh area varied differently during semidiurnal tidal *** to current velocity asymmetry,mean SSC during flood tide phase was 1.8 times higher than that of ebb tide *** a result,net onshore sediment flux controlled cross-shore suspended sediment transport process and salt marsh pioneer zone was generally *** was significant positive correlation between total sediment flux and quartic power of maximum water *** indicates that tidal ranges dominate suspended sediment transport and sedimentation process in the salt marsh pioneer zone under the calm weather *** sedimentation rate on the adjacent mudflat was higher than the salt marsh,which induced stable accreting of salt marsh towards the *** wind events enhanced SSC and current velocity during the semidiurnal *** the remarkable onshore net sediment flux could occur on the high marsh and mudflat close to the marsh fringe during the short period under the rough weather condition.

On-line matrix addition for detecting aerosol particles

Single aerosol particles were measured by matrix-assisted laser desorp-tion/ionization (MALDI) with an aerosol time-of-flight mass spectrometer (ATOFMS). The inlet to the ATOFMS was coupled with an evaporation/condensation flow cell that allowed matrix addition by condensation onto the particles. The coated particles entered the ion source through three-stage differentially pumped capillary inlet and were then ionized by a focused 2.6 nm Nd:YAG laser. The mass spectra and aerodynamic size of the single particles can be obtained simultaneously. The on-line matrix addition technique makes it possible to identify biological aerosols in real-time.

Feature-Grounded Single-Stage Text-to-Image Generation

Recently,Generative Adversarial Networks(GANs)have become the mainstream text-to-image(T2.)***,a standard normal distribution noise of inputs cannot provide sufficient information to synthesize an image that approaches the ground-truth image ***,the multistage generation strategy results in complex T2. ***,this study proposes a novel feature-grounded single-stage T2. model,which considers the“real”distribution learned from training images as one input and introduces a worst-case-optimized similarity measure into the loss function to enhance the model's generation *** results on two benchmark datasets demonstrate the competitive performance of the proposed model in terms of the Frechet inception distance and inception score compared to those of some classical and state-of-the-art models,showing the improved similarities among the generated image,text,and ground truth.
