The 1H and 13C NMR spectra of polyether-polyurethancs （A） based on 4, 4’-diphenylmethanediisocyanate （MDI）, N-methyl diethanolamine （MDEA）, and polytetramethyleneoxide （PTMO）and the zwitterionomers derived from A with various degree of ionization was assigned by comparingwith model compounds. Phase separation of the samples was visualized through pulsed NMR investigations. The FIDsignals of these multiphase elastomers were recorded and decomposed by non-linear least squaresregression into fast Gaussian and slow exponential components assodated with the hard, the soft andthe interface respectively. Thus pulsed NMR gives both qualitative and quantitative informationabout the existence of multiphases and the relative amounts of materials in each phase.

Efficient massive mapping algorithm (EMMA),an algorithm on efficiently mapping massivecDNAs onto genomic sequences,has recently been *** process of mapping massive cDNAsonto genomic sequences has been improved using more approximate mapping filtering based on an enhancedsuffix array coupled with a pruned fast hash table,algorithms of block alignment extensions,and *** compared with the classical BLAT software in this field,the computing of EMMA ranges fromtwo to forty-one times faster under similar prediction precisions.

Using the extended Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk formalism,we investigate the conductance spectra of graphene ferromagnet/p wave superconductor *** is found that the conductance spectra are affected by the p wave pairing *** ferromagnetic exchange energy in the ferromagnet can suppress Andreev retroreflection but enhance the specular Andreev reflection in graphene ferromagnet/p wave superconductor *** conductance decreases with increasing exchange energy Eh for EhEF.

Study on the Improvement of Sea-Entering Waterway in the Changjiang Estuary

The Changjiang Estuary is the doorway of the shanghai Harbour and the throat for the six provinces in the Changjiang River drainage area. However the minimum water depth of the waterway in the estuary is only about six meters, so that the development of the shanghai Harbour and the utilization of water transportation on the Changjiang River have been greatly restrained. Since 1975, the depth of the sea-entering waterway of the Changjiang Estuary has been successfully increased by one meter. This article has made a comprehensive summing-up about the selection of waterways, the determination of the line for dredging and disposal of the dredged material, thus providing reference data for future work in increasing the depth of the waterway of the Changjiang Estuary and for controlling similar waterways of other estuaries.

This is a study on the mass transport of a solute or contaminant in oscillating flows through a circular tube with a reactive wall layer. The reaction consists of a reversible component due to phase exchange between the flowing fluid and the wall layer, and an irreversible component due to absorption into the wall. The short-time dispersion characteristics are numerically investigated, incorporating the coupling effects between the flow oscillation, sorption kinetics, and retardation due to phase partitioning. The effects of various dimensionless parameters e.g., Da （the Damkoehler number）, α （phase partitioning number）, F （dimensionless absorption number）, and δ （dimensionless Stokes boundary layer number） on dispersion are discussed. In particular, it is found that there exist trinal peaks of the breakthrough curves in some cases.

A PCR-based subtractive hybridization technique was used to identify genes up-regulated in the hibernating bat brain to explore the molecular mechanism of hibernation. Three genes, Liprin-a2, PTP4A2 and CAMKKb were difierentially expressed in hibernating bat brain tissue compared to active bat brain tissue. One of them, Liprin-a2, which has recently been shown to have the key function in the organization of presynaptic and postsynaptic multiprotein complexes was studied in detail. We demonstrated that the expression level of Liprin-a2 was up-regulated almost 4-fold in hibernating bat brains by RT-PCR compared to levels in active bats. The difierential expression pattern of Liprin-a2 was also detected in muscle, fat, brain and heart tissue of hibernating bats by real-time quantitative PCR. The result indicated that Liprin-a2 was over-expressed in brain and heart tissue and down-regulated in muscle and fat. In brain tissue of hibernating bats, Liprin-a2 expression was statistically significantly higher than in brain tissue of active controls (P = 0.029). The precise control of transcriptional level and the distinctively difierential expression pattern of Liprin-a2 in difierent organs during circ- annual hibernation may have important physiological significance, not only in maintaining normal function of many key organs but also in effectively conserving limited energy resources without physiological damage.

In multiloci-based genetic association studies of complex diseases, a powerful and high efficient tool for analyses oflinkage disequilibrium (LD) between markers, haplotype distributions and many chi-square/p values with a large numberof samples has been sought for long. In order to achieve the goal of obtaining meaningful results directly from raw data,we developed a robust and user-friendly software platform with a series of tools for analysis in association study withhigh efficiency. The platform has been well evaluated by several sets of real data.

The Bowman-Birk inhibitors(BBIs)are well-studied serine protease inhibitors that areabundant in dicotyledonous and monocotyledonous *** from dicots usually have a molecular weightof 8k and are double-headed with two reactive sites,whereas those from monocots can be divided into twoclasses,one approximately 8 kDa in size with one reactive site(another reactive site was lost)and the otherapproximately 16 kDa in size with two reactive *** reactive site is located at unique exposed surfacesformed by a disulfide-linked β-sheet loop that is highly conserved,rigid and mostly composed of *** structural features and molecular evolution of inhibitors are described,focusing on the conserveddisulfide *** sunflower trypsin inhibitor-1(SFTI-1),with 14 amino acid residues,is a recentlydiscovered bicyclic inhibitor,and is the most small and potent naturally occurring Bowman-Birk ***,BBIs have become a hot topic because of their potential *** are now used fordefense against pathogens and insects in transgenic plants,which has advantages over using toxic andpolluting *** could also be applied in the prevention of cancer,Dengue fever,and inflammatoryand allergic disorders,because of their inhibitory activity with respect to the serine proteases that play apivotal role in the development and pathogenesis of these *** canonical nine-residue loop of BBIs/STFI-1 provides an ideal template for drug design of specific inhibitors to target their respective proteases.
