Through our previous experimental and analytical studies, it has been discovered that the key for the development of vibration milling is the impact chaos control and stress release. The necessities for the chaos control and stress release are: (i) to strictly e-liminate the sub-harmonics; (ii) to control the super-harmonics to a lower level and (iii) to load the system compressively with relatively higher period, in order that the vibration energy can be absorbed by the particles effectively and sufficiently. A new vibration model for ultra fine milling is proposed, which has wide applications in preparing ultra fine particles.

Transcription regulation is one of the most critical pipelines in biological process,in which cis-elements play the role as gene expression *** attempt to deduce the principles underlying the co-expression of "head-to-head" gene pairs by analyzing activities or behaviors of the shared cis-elements.A network component analysis was performed to estimate the impact of cis-elements on gene promoters and their activities under different *** discoveries reveal how biological system uses those regulatory elements to control the expression pattern of "head-to-head" gene pairs and the whole transcription regulation system.

This paper investigates the visual servoing robust stabilization of nonholonomic mobile robots. The calibration of visual parameters is not only complicated, but also needs great consumption of calculated time so that the accurate calibration is impossible in some situations for high requirement of real timing. Hence, it is interesting and important to consider the design of stabilizing controllers for nonholonomic kinematic systems with uncalibrated visual parameters. A novel uncertain model of these nonholonomic kinematic systems is proposed. Based on this model, a stabilizing controller is discussed by using dynamic feedback and two-step techniques. The proposed robust controller makes the mobile robot image pose and the orientation converge to the desired configuration despite the lack of depth information and the lack of precise visual parameters. The stability of the closed loop system is rigorously proved. The simulation is given to show the effectiveness of the presented controllers.

Perfluorosulfonic acid/Polysulfone(PFSA/PSf) hollow fiber composite membranes have been prepared by dip-coating method using PSf ultrafiltration(UF) membrane as substrate with recovered *** composite membranes were applied to the pervaporation separation of 95. ethanol(EtOH)/H2O *** images show that the thickness of the PFSA skin layer of the composite membranes is about 2 μm,much thinner than those of other PFSA composite membranes revealed in the *** of annealing temperature,coating solution concentration and counter-ions of PFSA on the pervaporation performances of the composite membranes were *** total flux decreases and separation factor increases with the increase of annealing *** highest permeation flux of 3230 g m-2 h-1 and a separation factor of 5.4.is obtained for the composite membrane annealed at 80°*** lowest permeation flux of 396 g m-2 h-1 and a separation factor of 27.7 is obtained for the composite membrane annealed at 160°*** permeation performances of the PFSA/PSf composite membrane are evidently influenced by the counter-ions of *** flux sequence of the PFSA/PSf composite membranes with different counter-ions is H+>Li+>Ca2+>Mg2+>Na+>K+>Ba2+>Fe3+>Al3+,and the separation factor sequence is H+Na+>K+.There are very little variations of △Eapp values between the composite membranes with three divalent counterions(Mg2+,Ca2+ and Ba2+),and the △Eapp values of the composite membranes with two trivalent counterions(Fe3+ and Al3+) are relatively high.

A new variant of P systems as an improvement of the original design is introduced. The P systems here allow parallelism in rules application on synapses (or links, channels), rendering the systems more efficient. We describe the execution mechanism of our P systems, make analysis on its computation power, and illustrate the running by an example.

AIM: To identify genes responsive to apoptosis in HL-60 cells treated by homoharringtonine. METHODS: cDNA microarray technology was used to detect gene expression and the result of microarrays for genes (TIEG and VDUP1) was confirmed by Northern analysis. RESULTS: Seventy-five individual mRNAs whose mass changed significantly were identified. Among these genes (25.were up-regulated and 5. were down-regulated), most are known related to oncogenes and tumor suppressor. Some genes were involved in apoptosis signaling pathways. CONCLUSION: TGFβ and TNF apoptosis signaling pathways were initiated during apoptosis in HL-60 cells. TIEG and VDUP1 play important roles in mediating apoptosis.

In the paper we are concerned with double S-breaking cubic turning points of two-parameter nonlinear problems in the presence of Z(2)-symmetry. Three extended systems are proposed to determine double S-breaking cubic turning points. We show that there exist two kinds of singular point path passing through double S-breaking cubic turning point, One is the simple quadratic turning point path, the other is the pitchfork bifurcation point path.

Semantic search is a key issue in integration of heterogeneous biological databases. In this paper, we present a methodology for implementing semantic search in BioDW, an integrated biological data warehouse. Two tables are presented: the DB2GO table to correlate Gene Ontology (GO) annotated entries from BioDW data sources with GO, and the semantic similarity table to record similarity scores derived from any pair of GO terms. Based on the two tables, multifarious ways for semantic search are provided and the corresponding entries in heterogeneous biological databases in semantic terms can be expediently searched.

AIM: To study the effects of centrophenoxine (CPH, meclofenoxate) on chronic cerebral hypoperfusion induced deficits in rats. METHODS: Chronic hypoperfusion in rats was performed by permanent bilateral ligation of the common carotid arteries. Morris water maze was used to measure spatial memory performance. Spectrophoto- metrical techniques were used to assay SOD, GPx activities, MDA content, TXB2, and 6-keto-PGF1α levels. Mor- phological change was examined by HE staining. The expression of Bax and p5. protein were assayed by immuno- histochemistry analysis. RESULTS: Chronic hypoperfusion in rats resulted in spatial memory impairments shown by longer escape latency and shorter time spent in the target quadrant. These behavioral dysfunction were accom- panied by increase in SOD and GPx activities, the content of MDA, the levels of pro-inflammatory mediators (TXB2, 6-keto-PGF1α), overexpression of Bax and P5. protein, and delayed degeneration of neurons in cortex and hippocampus. Oral administration of CPH (100 mg/kg, once per day for 37 d) markedly improved the memory impairment, reduced the increase in antioxidant enzyme activities, MDA content and the levels of pro-inflammatory mediators to their normal levels, and attenuated neuronal damage. CONCLUSION: The abilities of CPH to attenu- ate memory deficits and neuronal damage after ischemia may be beneficial in cerebrovascular type dementia.
