Bit Error Probability (BEP) provides a fundamental performance measure for wireless diversity systems. This paper presents two new exact BEP expressions for Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) diversity systems. One BEP expression takes a closed form, while the other is derived by treating the squared-sum of Rayleigh random variables as an Erlang variable. Due to the fact that the extant bounds are loose and could not properly characterize the error performance of MRC diversity systems, this paper presents a very tight bound. The numerical analysis shows that the new derived BEP expressions coincide with the extant expressions, and that the new approximation tightly bounds the accurate BEP.

Either cetuximab or bevacizumab can improve the survival of patients with metastastic colorectal cancer (mCRC) if administered combided with cytotoxic agents. However, the effect of two or more target agents in combination is uncertain in these patients. Here, we reported a patient with mCRC successfully treated by a combination of target agents after the failure of chemotherapy. The patient received palliative resection of primary tumor followed by 9 cycles of postoperative XELOX regimen, cytokine-induced killer cell (CIK)-based biotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine, particle implantation in the lung metastatic lesions. The tumor progressed 20 months after the standard treatments. Then, the regimen cetuximab, bevacizumab and cefitinib was applied. During the treatment with targeted agents, grade IV acne-like rash and relatively severe parionychia of the toes occurred. Both of them recovered smoothly. The PET-CT reexamination at 40 days after the target treatment showed that the metabolism of mediastinal lymph nodes basically recovered to a normal level. The combination of multiple targeted agents obtained a progression-free survival(PFS) of 11 months and the patient with a good quality of life during this period.

Biomarker identification and cancer classification are two important procedures in microarray data *** propose a novel unified method to carry out both *** first preselect biomarker candidates by eliminating unrelated genes through the BSS/WSS ratio filter to reduce computational cost,and then use a sparse discriminant analysis method for simultaneous biomarker identification and cancer ***,we give a mathematical justification about automatic biomarker *** results show that the proposed method can identify key genes that have been verified in biochemical or biomedical research and classify the breast cancer type correctly.

BACKGROUND:Combined hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CC) is an uncommon subtype of primary hepatic carcinoma,and its prognosis is *** study was undertaken to investigate the prognosis and the clinicopathological characteristics of cHCC-CC,including their possible cellular ***:Among 852 patients with a primary hepatic carcinoma who underwent hepatectomy from January 1998 to April 2008 at our hospital,cHCC-CC was identified in 14 patients The clinicopathological characteristics of the 14 patients were analyzed *** expression of the liver stem cell markers (c-kit,CD90,CD133 and CK19) in the tumor tissue was detected by immunohistochemistry,and the Kaplan-Meier method was used to evaluate ***:Among the 14 patients,9 presented with abdominal pain,3 with anorexia and debilitation,and the remaining two patients were *** mean age was 53.6±3.0 (range 38-74) *** the included patients,11 had an elevated serum alpha-fetoprotein level,13 were infected with hepatitis B virus,9 had vascular invasion and 1 had lymph node metastasis The average diameter of the tumors was 9.9±1.1 (range 5.0-16.0) *** median overall survival time was 7.9±1.0 months In addition,the presence of the liver stem cell markers,c-kit CD90,CD133 and CK19 was 71.4%,85.7%,92.9% and 78.6% *** four markers were simultaneously expressed in eight ***:cHCC-CC has aggressive characteristics and the prognosis is extremely *** high expression of liver stem cell markers in the tumor tissue suggests that these tumors may derive from liver stem cells.

BACKGROUND:Liver enriched natural killer (NK) cells are of high immune ***,the function of donor liver NK cells in allogeneic liver transplantation (LTx) remains ***:Ten Gy of whole body gamma-irradiation (WBI) from a 60 Co source at 0.6 Gy/min was used for depleting donorderived leukocytes,and transfusion of purified liver NK cells isolated from the same type rat as donor (donor type liver NK cells,dtl NKs) through portal vein was performed immediately after grafting the irradiated ***-transplant survival observation on recipients and histopathological detection of liver grafts were adoptive to evaluate the biological impact of donor liver NK cells on recipients’ survival in rat ***:Transfusion of dtl NKs did not shorten the survival time among the recipients of spontaneous tolerance model (BN to LEW rat) after rat LTx,but prolonged the liver graft survival among the recipients depleted of donor-derived leukocytes in the acute rejection model (LEW to BN rat).Compared to the recipients in the groups which received the graft depleted of donor-derived leukocytes,better survival and less damage in the allografts were also found among the recipients in the two different strain combinations of liver allograft due to transfusion of dtl ***:Donor liver NK cells alone do not exacerbate liver allograft acute ***,they can alleviate it,and improve the recipients’ survival.

This study aims to discuss the effect of preventing pathological changes and cognitive degeneration of Tg2576 mice by inoculating the subunit fragment of Aβ ***-two Tg2576 mice were randomly divided into four groups, each having eight mice:Group I, the control group, inoculated with adjuvants;Group II, the Aβ42 group, inoculated with Aβ42 vaccine;Group Ⅲ, the Aβ1―15 group, inoculated with Aβ1―15 vaccine;and Group IV, the Aβ36―42 group, inoculated with Aβ36―42 *** titer of the serum anti-body against Aβ42(Group II) was significantly higher than that of the control group(Group I), and a low level of antibodies could be detected in the brain homogenate in the three vaccine-inoculated *** water maze test showed that the Aβ42 group, Aβ1―15 group and Aβ36―42 group were obviously im-proved compared with the control *** cultured splenocytes sampled from each group were induced by Con A or their respective antigens, and the cell proliferation of the three vaccine-inoculated groups was significantly higher than that of the control *** the Aβ42 group, IL2 and IFN-γ were relatively low and IL4 and IL10 were relatively *** contrast, IL4 and IL10 were much higher in the Aβ1―15 group and IL2 and IFN-γ were much higher in the Aβ36―42 *** immunohistochemical test showed a large number of senile plaques in the brain cortex and hippocampus of the mice in the con-trol group, no senile plaque in the brain of the Aβ1―15 group and Aβ42 group mice, and a small number of senile plaques in the brain of the Aβ36―42 group *** results suggest that the subunit fragment of Aβ1―15 vaccine could prevent not only cognitive and behavioral degeneration but also Aβ deposition and formation of senile plaques in Tg2576 mice.

A singular value decomposition （SVD） analysis is carried out to reveal the relationship between the interannual variation of track and intensity of the western North Pacific tropical cyclones （WNPTCs） in the tropical cyclone （TC） active season （July–November） and the global net air-sea heat flux （Q net ） in the preceding season （April–June）. For this purpose, a tropical cyclone track and intensity function （TIF） is defined by a combination of accumulated cyclone energy （ACE） index and a cyclone track density function. The SVD analysis reveals that the first mode is responsible for the positive correlation between the upward heat flux in the tropical central Pacific and the increased activity of western North Pacific （WNP） TIF, the second mode for the positive correlation between the upward heat flux in the North Indian Ocean and the northeastward track shift of WNPTCs and the third mode for the negative correlation between the upward heat flux in mid-latitude central Pacific and the northwest displacement of the WNP TC-active center. This suggests that Q net anomalies in some key regions have a substantial remote impact on the WNP TC activity.

In this paper,we address the problem of unsuperised social network embedding,which aims to embed network nodes,including node attributes,into a latent low dimensional *** recent methods,the fusion mechanism of node attributes and network structure has been proposed for the problem and achieved impressive prediction ***,the non-linear property of node attributes and network structure is not efficiently fused in existing methods,which is potentially helpful in learning a better network *** this end,in this paper,we propose a novel model called ASM(Adaptive Specific Mapping)based on encoder-decoder *** encoder,we use the kernel mapping to capture the non-linear property of both node attributes and network *** particular,we adopt two feature mapping functions,namely an untrainable function for node attributes and a trainable function for network *** the mapping functions,we obtain the low dimensional feature vectors for node attributes and network structure,***,we design an attention layer to combine the learning of both feature vectors and adaptively learn the node *** encoder,we adopt the component of reconstruction for the training process of learning node attributes and network *** conducted a set of experiments on seven real-world social network *** experimental results verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our method in comparison with state-of-the-art baselines.
