Sediment change under climate changes and human activities in the Yuanjiang-Red River Basin

Both the climate change and human activities are the major Influence factors to the sediment change In mountainous *** on the over 40 years' record,suspended sediment loads（SSL）change at the Manheo gauging station in the lower reaches of Yuanjiang River（upper Red River）.In this paper,the variation of the sediment and its drivers were analyzed through different methods such as synchronous data comparison,traditional correlation,linear regression,and Granger *** results show that （1）the general trend of the annual average sediment concentration（SSC）and SSL at Manheo station is increasing from the 1960s to the 1990s,and there is a quick change period after 1984;（2）the SSL and SSC at Manhao station,during different periods of the 1960s,1970s,1980s and 1990s,are 1.87,2.49, 3.12,3.63 kg/m3,and 28.7×10～6,40.3×10～6,44.1×10～6,60.3×10～6 t/a,respectively;（3）the correlation analysis end the Granger causality test proved that the climate changes in the catchment were the main driving factors to the sediment variation in the period of 1960s and 1990s,but the influence by the mountain- ous human actions on the sediment change is stronger than that by the local climate changes in the 1970s and 1980s;（4）the correlation between the sediment changes and the forest coverage change is negative,which further proves that the sediment changes are strongly affected by the human activities in the basin.

In this paper, we will study the temporal-spatial landscape change from 1978 to 2001 in Daqing City, based on the mul- ti spectral scanner (MSS) and thematic mapper (TM) images of remote sensing (RS) of 1978, 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2001. In order to explain the effects of the component change on the whole landscape, we make a statistic analysis about the transfer probability matrix of the component types of the landscape by using the ARCGIS platform through the overlay analysis of different landscape components. Based on the transfer probability matrix, we calculate the in-transfer ratio, the out-transfer ratio and the contributor ratio of the special transfer process of the main landscape components. The results illustrate that the cultivated-land, grassland, swamp, and alkaline land are the main contributors resulting in the landscape change: the out-transfer ratios of grassland and swamp are much higher than the in-transfer ones; the in-transfer ratio of alkaline land is much higher than the out-transfer one; the in-transfer ratio of the land-lot is always higher than its out-transfer with the highest rate per year, although there is a small difference among the in-transfers and the out-transfers per year. The main landscape changing processes are the salination of cultivated-land, salination or desertification of grassland, salination and degeneration of swamp. Results in this paper can provide scientific basis for investigating the landscape change mechanism of resources-based city.

The coat protein (CP) gene of Cocksfoot mottle virus (CfMV) was amplified by RT-PCR and inserted into expression vector pGEX-4T-1, and the resulting plasmid was designated as pGEXCfMV-JANCP. The fusion protein GST-CP was expressed in BL21 (DE3) pLysS after IPTG induction. The results of SDS-PAGE and Western blot analysis showed that the CfMV-CP gene was efficiently expressed in E. coli BL21 (DE3) pLysS through IPTG induction and the 56.0 kD protein was obtained.

In order to understand land use/land cover changes （LUCC） and the eco-environment response to LUCC in farming- pastoral zone of the northern china during the recent twenty years, Baotou prefecture was selected as a case study area for investigation and quantitative evaluation. Technologies of remote sensing （RS）, global positioning system （GPS）, geographic information system （GIS）, and other statistical methods were employed to implement. Results showed that：（1） During the recent twenty years, the areas of forest lands, grasslands and water were reduced, whereas the areas of other types were enlarged. Parts of forest lands, grasslands, and waters had become farmlands, and about 31.5% of the changed grasslands transferred into unused lands. The newly increased farmlands mainly came from grasslands and unused lands. And the newly increased construction lands mainly came from grasslands and farmlands. （2） Regional eco- environmental quality decreased by 12.6%, for which the land degradation （especially the meadow degeneration） and the developing of the cultivated land were mainly responsible, and their contributions to the regional eco-environment changes were 51.84 and 23.63% respectively. （3） The tendency of LUCC and the eco-environment response to LUCC displayed spatial heterogeneity. It can be concluded that the present agricultural production mode was not sustainable in farming-pastoral zone of northern china. Land degradation, especially meadow degradation induced by over-trampling and overgrazing, and developing of cultivated land were mainly responsible for regional eco-environment deterioration. Changing the cultivated land to forest or grass, however, can relieve deterioration of local eco-environment to some extents. And in the farming-pastoral zone in the northern china, evaluating regional eco-environment responses to LUCC was very necessary due to its fragile eco-environments.

Despite its tiny territory,Macau boasts a large volume of tourist activities,which serves as the pillar of its *** and natural resources are the cornerstone of tourism,but are also subject to the negative impact of *** on the theory and methodology of ecological footprint analysis,this paper calculated the touristic ecological footprint and deficit of Macau in 2009,in an effort to bring to light the current status of excessive consumption of resources by *** the findings show,the non-transferable touristic ecological footprint and touristic ecological deficit of Macau in 2009 are respectively 18 300.891 gha and 12 737.584 gha,and the former is 3.29 times as large as the touristic ecological carrying *** ecological footprint of Macau is highly efficient in economic sense but currently tourism is developing in an unsustainable manner,so appropriate initiatives are in need to strike a balance between tourism development and resource conservation and to promote the sustainability of tourism industry of Macau.

Cross-shore suspended sediment flux in the salt marsh pioneer zone of Chongming eastern beach in the Chang- jiang Estuary in china

Between April 2002 and April 2003,in situ measurements of water depth,current velocity and suspended sediment content were carried out in edge region of East Chongming salt marsh and neighboring bald flat in the Changjiang （Yangtze） Estuary under different weather ***-shore suspended sediment flux was calculated and *** results show that under calm weather conditions,the current velocity process in bald field and salt marsh area varied differently during semidiurnal tidal *** to current velocity asymmetry,mean SSC during flood tide phase was 1.8 times higher than that of ebb tide *** a result,net onshore sediment flux controlled cross-shore suspended sediment transport process and salt marsh pioneer zone was generally *** was significant positive correlation between total sediment flux and quartic power of maximum water *** indicates that tidal ranges dominate suspended sediment transport and sedimentation process in the salt marsh pioneer zone under the calm weather *** sedimentation rate on the adjacent mudflat was higher than the salt marsh,which induced stable accreting of salt marsh towards the *** wind events enhanced SSC and current velocity during the semidiurnal *** the remarkable onshore net sediment flux could occur on the high marsh and mudflat close to the marsh fringe during the short period under the rough weather condition.
