The microwave radiation of the sea surface, which is denoted by the sea surface brightness temperature, is not only related with sea surface salinity (SSS) and temperature (SST), but also influenced by sea surface wind. The errors of wind detected by satellite sensor have significant influences on the accuracy of SSS and SST retrieval. The effects of sea surface wind on sea surface brightness temperature, i.e. △Th,v, and the relations among △Th,v, wind speed, sea surface tempera- ture, sea surface salinity and incidence angle of observation are investigated. Based on the investi- gations, a new algorithm depending on the design of a single radiometer with double polarizations and multi-incidence angles is proposed. The algorithm excludes the influence of sea surface wind on SSS and SST retrieval, and provides a new method for remote sensing of SSS and SST.

The direct and indirect effect of ICT on energy conservation and emission reduction is described. The energy consumption per unit GDP in the ICT industry is lower than that in other industries. The application of ICT in such fi elds as industrial design, manufacturing, management, logistics, sales and service can be helpful for energy conservation and emission reduction in the industrial and transportations industry; however, the issue of energy waste and environmental pollution caused by voluminous deployment of ICT products should never be overlooked. This paper presents the lat- est development of communications products in energy conservation and exemplifi es the roles of ICT in energy conservation and consumption reduction. The issue of electromagnetic radiation of ICT products and the recycling and reuse of e-wastes are explored.

Effects of 4-dimension variational data assimi-lation (4DVAR) with multifold observed data on the typhoontrack forecast are studied, by using the MM5V3 model, theRTTOVS-5 model and their adjoint models. The data usedfor assimilation include large-scale background fields data,bogus data, cloud-derived wind data, satellite inverse data,and high resolution infrared radiation sounder data (HIRS).There are 5 typhoon cases are used to perform the numericalexperiments and assimilation experiments. The numericalresults show that with 4DVAR the initial fields can be greatlyimproved and the initial typhoon structure can be clearlydescribed.

Based on the biological action spectra and total UV-B radiation in the atmosphere,the effective UV-dose for DNA, erythema,and plant at different seasons in the last decade,and their future change in beijing area were *** results indicate that the maxi- mum of biologically effective radiation dose at noontime is in July and the minimum is in January. From 1980 to 1989 biologically effective radiation dose have increased with the average rates of about 0.6,0.7 and 1.1 mW/m￣2 per year for January, April and October,while in July the trend of radiation dose is not ln evidence. For 1% reduction of ozone concentration radiation amplification factor for DNA,erythema and plant are 2.3,2.3 and 1.4 and for 30% reduction of ozone concentration the RAF for DNA,erythema and plant are 4.2,4.0 and 2.1,respectively.

Therapeutic angiogenesis induced by human hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) gene in rat myocardial ischemia models

In order to investigate the feasibility of myo-cardial ischemia gene therapy, we cloned human hepatocyte growth factor gene from human placenta cDNA library by the RT-PCR method. Recombination adenovirus Ad-HGF was constructed by the method of co-transfection and ho-mologous recombination of plasmids in 293 cells. Ad-HGF was amplified in 293 cells and purified through CsCl density gradient centrifugation. Ad-HGF could be expressed in rat primary myocardial cells and HGF secreted into the culture media, which was tested by ELISA. The distribution and persistence of adenovirus in rat were investigated by green fluorescence protein as a report gene. In vivo we found that intramyocardial administration of Ad-HGF could induce angiogenesis in rat myocardium after ligation of coronary artery. The results suggested that Ad-HGF was effective in vitro and in vivo, and the data for designing human trial of gene therapy—— mediated cardiac angiogenesis were pro-vided.

Based on the knowledge and related theory of earth’s radiation belt, the data of energetic particles observed by detectors onboard ‘CBERS-1’ satellite at a solar syn- chronous orbit were analyzed. It is proved that the observational results are in agreement with the theoretical description of the radiation belt structures. Analysis of more than 3 years’ data showed clearly that under quiet solar conditions, at a height of about 800 km the energetic particles were mainly located in three regions: northern auroral belt (40°― 80°), southern auroral belt (?40°― ?80°) and South Atlantic Geomagnetic Anomaly Re- gion (SAA). Actually, this is for the global distribution, at each longitude the latitudinal coverage is much narrower and particles are along the geomagnetic latitude of about ±60°. The species of particles in different regions and their counting rates are different. In SAA, usually both electrons and protons are observed, which should come from inner radiation belt; in polar regions only energetic electrons are observed under the quiet condition, which belongs to the outer radiation belt. The distribution of outer radiation electrons is asymmetrical for longitudes as well as northern and southern polar regions. These asymmetries can be explained with the reflecting altitudes of the mirror points of charged particles at the same L shell.

X-ray phase-contrast imaging (PCI) is a new emerging imaging technique that generates a high spatial resolution and high contrast of biological soft tissues compared to conventional radiography. Herein a biomedical application of diffraction enhanced imaging (DEI) is presented. As one of the PCI methods, DEI derives contrast from many different kinds of sample information, such as the sample’s X-ray absorption, refraction gradient and ultra-small-angle X-ray scattering (USAXS) properties, and the sample information is expressed by three parametric images. Combinedwith computed tomography (CT), DEI-CT can produce 3D volumetric images of the sample and can be used for investigating micro-structures of biomedical samples. Our DEI experiments for liver samples were implemented at the topography station of beijing Synchrotron radiation Facility (BSRF). The results show that by using our provided information extraction method and DEI-CT reconstruction approach, the obtained parametric images clearly display the inner structures of liver tissues and the morphology of blood vessels. Furthermore, the reconstructed 3D view of the liver blood vessels exhibits the micro blood vessels whose minimum diameter is on the order of about tens of microns, much better than its conventional CT reconstruction at a millimeter resolution. In conclusion, both the information extraction method and DEI-CT have the potential for use in biomedical micro-structures analysis.

This paper studies the generation of the dispersive wave (DW) in the normal dispersion regimes of the birefringent photonic crystal fiber (BPCF) fabricated in this work. The remarkable blue-shifted radiation is found to be generated when 30 fs pulses are input in the normal dispersion regime of the BPCF for the first time. The characteristics of the blue-shifted DW strongly depend on the polarization of the input pulse. As a result, two peaks appear in the blue-shifted region of the spectrum when the input pulses polarize along the slow axis of the BPCF. With the increase of the center wavelength of the initial input pulse, the difference between the wavelengths of the two peaks widens. The peak location in the spectrum can be explained by the phase matching condition between the DW and the input pulse. In addition, when the input polarization is set to an angle of 45° with respect to the principal axes of the BPCF, the cross-phase modulation and coherent coupling between two orthogonally polarized modes would result in pulse trapping in the BPCF. Accordingly, the DW shift toward short wavelength is restrained. The DW generation in the normal-dispersion regimes of BPCF can be controlled by the phase matching condition and polarization of the input pulse.

Aim: To study the distribution of [131I]-labeled anti-CEA MoAbs and its therapeutic effect on the human colonic cancer model in nude mice. Methods: A nude mice model of human colonic cancer was established. [~131I]-labeled anti-CEA MoAbs were injected intravenously into mice. The distribution of the MoAbs was then determined and the effect of RIT on human colonic cancer was observed. Results: The [131I]-labeled anti-CEA MoAbs had a specific distribution after injection. Tumor/non-tumor ratios for [131I]-labeled anti-CEA MoAbs were 10-20 times higher than [131I]-labeled IgG 96 h after injection. Thirty days after injection, significant inhibition of the volume and weight of tumor was observed in the treated mice compared with the control. The tumor growth inhibition rate of 3,1 mCi/kg CEA MoAbs group (LS180, LS174T, SW1116) was 47.8%～64.0%. This was 69.6%-78.6% in the 6.25 mCi/kg CEA MoAbs group, and 81.8%-86.2% in the 12.5 mCi/kg [131I]-labeled anti-CEA MoAbs group. The plasma CEA level was alo lower in treated mice. Conclusion: The results indicate that [131I]-labeled anti-CEA MoAbs can be effective in RIT on colonic cancers.
