Construction and evaluation of a novel end-column amperometric detection system for electrophoresis microchips

A set of integrated end-column amperometric detection system has been developed,onto which an electrophoresis microchip can be conveniently *** machined by a piece of transparent organic glass,the system consists of an electrophoresis microchip platform and an amperometric detection reservoir,in which the microchip can be fixed onto the platform by microchip grooves and with stainless steel *** detection electrode can be directly fixed in the amperometric detection reservoir by screws and *** dopamine as the model analyte,we take platinum disc electrodes with different diameters of 100 μm,3.0 μm and 500 μm and a carbon fiber electrode with the diameter of 240 μm as the working electrode,all of which accomplish sensitive *** detection parameters of the system are optimized with the carbon fiber *** detection results show that in the electrochemical cleaning procedure,the relative deviations of 3.2% and 0.5% for the peak current and retention time,respectively,can be obtained for the successive detections of 100 μM dopamine,and the limit of detection for dopamine can reach 0.4 μM(S/N = 3..This system is small,but its performance of detection is stable and sensitive,and the replacement of its working electrodes is convenient,so it is very suitable as a universal platform of end-column amperometric detection for electrophoresis microchips.

Effect of upward ion on field-aligned currents in the near-earth magnetotail

A 3.dimensional resistive MHD simulation was carried out to study the effect of the upward ions on the field-aligned currents (FACs) in the near-earth magnetotail. The simulation results show that the up-flow ions originating from the nightside auroral oval would drift into the center plasma sheet along the magnetic field lines in the plasma sheet boundary, and have an important effect on the field-aligned currents. The main conclusions include that: 1) the upward-ions mainly affect the field- aligned currents in the near-earth magnetotail (inside 15 Re); 2) the generated FACs in the near-earth region have two types, i.e., Region 1 FAC in the high-latitude and Region 2 FAC in the low-latitude; 3. FACs increase with the enhancement of the upward ion flux; 4) with the same flux of the upward ions, FACs enhance with the increase of the velocity of the up-flow ions; 5) the intensification of FACs is also closely related with the latitude of the upward ions, and the ions from the closed field line region generate larger FACs; 6) the generation of FACs is closely related with By created by the upward ions.

Some characteristics of the atmosphere during an adiabatic process

Some important characteristics of the atmosphere during an adiabatic process are investigated, which include the invariability of atmospheric entropy range and local surface potential temperature, the conservation of the atmospheric mass intervened between any isentropic surface and the ground, and the isentropic surface intersecting with the ground. The analysis shows that the atmospheric reference state (ARS) for investigation on available potential energy (APE) should be defined objectively as the state which could be approached from the existing atmosphere by adiabatic adjustment, and be related to initial atmospheric state before adjustment. For the initial atmosphere state at any time, its corresponding ARS is different from the one at another time. Based on the above-mentioned conclusions, the reference state proposed by Lorenz cannot be obtained physically, so a new conception, the conditional minimum total potential energy, is put forward in order to objectively investigate atmospheric APE.

Calculating the time lags over different timescales using the cross-correlation technique may lead to a biased estimate of small *** a timescale for lightcurve binning,we propose to subtract the local average instead of the global average during the cross-correlation,in order to filter variations on timescales larger than the bin *** new method allows us to make an unbiased estimate of the time lags using RXTE/PCA data on timescales as small as-5 ms,where the Fourier technique becomes *** calculate the time lag spectra of Cygnus X-1 at different spectral states with the new method,and find that the source appears to have similar X-ray lags on small timescales independent of its spectral states.

Simulating Hydrologic Changes with Climate Change Scenarios in the Haihe River Basin

Climate change scenarios, predicted using the regional climate modeling system of PRECIS (providing regional cli-mates for impacts studies), were used to derive three-layer variable infiltration capacity (VIC-3.) land surface model forthe simulation of hydrologic processes at a spatial resolution of 0.25° × 0.25° in the Haihe River Basin. Three climatescenarios were considered in this study: recent climate (1961-1990), future climate A2 (1991-2100) and future climateB2 (1991-2100) with A2 and B2 being two storylines of future emissions developed with the Intergovernmental Panel onClimate Change (IPCC) special report on emissions scenarios. Overall, under future climate scenarios A2 and B2, theHaihe River Basin would experience warmer climate with increased precipitation, evaporation and runoff production ascompared with recent climate, but would be still likely prone to water shortages in the period of 203.-2070. In addition,under future climate A2 and B2, an increase in runoff during the wet season was noticed, indicating a future rise in theflood occurrence possibility in the Haihe River Basin.

Properties and applications of cold supersonic gas jet

By analyzing the formation mechanism of a supersonic gas jet,a set of equations which describe the atomic beam properties were established. The influence of initial temperature,initial pressure,background gas pressure and pumping speed was discussed in detail. A simulation program was developed based on the equations,and the results under different initial conditions were obtained. The results are in good agreement with the experimental data,and suggest that,in order to get much smaller transverse momentum in collision experiments,it is necessary to lower the initial temperature and the initial pressure of the supersonic gas jet,together with increasing the pumping speed. These results are very instructive for construction of a new generation of cold supersonic gas jets.

High quality La0.67Ca0.3.MnO3.(LCMO) film was deposited via a novel pulsed electron deposition technique on SrTiO3.100) single crystal substrate. The micro-bridge with different widths was fabricated by using electron beam lithography (EBL) technique and their transport properties were studied. For the micro-bridges with width of 2 and 1.5 μm,the insulator-to-metal transition temperature (TP) keeps un-changed compared with the film. For the micro-bridges with width of 1 μm,the TP shifts towards the lower temperature by 50 K. When the width decreases down to 500 nm,the insulator-to-metal transition disappears. The magnetoresistance be-havior of these micro-bridges was studied,and the results show that the low field magnetoresistance (LFMR) decreases and the high field magnetoresistances (HFMR) keep almost unchanged as the width of micro-bridge is reduced.

Global analysis theory of climate system and its applications

The idea and main theoretical results of the global analysis theory of climate system are briefly summarized in this paper. A theorem on the global behavior of climate system is given, i.e. there exists a global attractor in the dynamical equations of climate, any state of climate system will be evolved into the global attractor as time increases, indicating the nonlinear adjustment process of climate system to external forcing. The different effects of external forcing, dissipation and nonlinearity on the long-term behavior of solutions are pointed out, and some main applications of the global analysis theory are also introduced. Especially, three applications, the adjustment and evolution processes of climate, the principle of numerical model design and the optimally numerical integration, are discussed.

The dynamical properties of Rydberg hydrogen atom near a metal surface are presented by using the methods of phase space analysis and closed orbit theory. Transforming the coordinates of the Hamiltonian, we find that the phase space of the system is divided into vibrational and rotational region. Both the Poincaré surface of section and the closed orbit theory verify the same conclusion clearly. In this paper we choose the atomic principal quantum number as n = 20. The dynamical character of the exited hydrogen atom depends sensitively on the atom-surface distance d. When d is sufficiently large, the atom-surface potential can be expressed by the traditional van der Waals force and the system is integrable. When d becomes smaller, there exists a critical value dc. For d > dc, the system is near-integrable and the motion is regular. While chaotic motion appears for d < dc, and the system tends to be non-integrable. The trajectories become unstable and the electron might be captured onto the metal surface.
