In this paper, a new method based on the space syntax is presented to optimize the urban space configuration. Space syntax theory is used to detect systematically whether one urban space configuration is optimal or not from four aspects including traffic space, cognition space, land use space and culture space. After introducing the computational and cognitive aspects of space syntax for the research of urban space, a framework of urban space optimization based on space syntax is proposed, then the integration with GIS and the extension to third dimension are discussed. Finally, a case study for Kanmen town of Zhejiang province of *** is illustrated by using Axwoman tool.

Research on the combination of hydrological variation and ecological demands plays an important role in water availability assessment and sustainable management on basin scale. An integrative frame, consisting of hydrological regime modelling, ecological water demands estimation and renewable resources management, is given in this paper in order to support the implementation of the sustainable water resources management. The suggested integrative frame has been used to study the integrated water resources management in southern Hanjiang River Basin which is the water source of South-toNorth Water Transportation Project in china. SWAT (soil and water assessment tool) model was used to simulate the monthly averaging streamflow and the amounts of ecological water demands in stream were also estimated in order to evaluate the available water resources for the local users and the transportation project. Then we formed the developing scenarioes by coupling the available water resources, the recovering rate of water resources in natural water cycle, the local water use rate and the amounts of the water transported to North, and used the Scheafer model to analyze their evolving trajectories. Eventually, the sustainable water resources management measures were assembled by the comprehensive evaluation of the scenarioes. The research indicates that the integrative frame provided a new way for the integrated water resources management in river basin.

This paper introduces drift analysis approach in studying the convergence and hitting times of evolutionary algorithms. First the methodology of drift analysis is introduced, which links evolutionary algorithms with Markov chains or supermartingales. Then the drift conditions which guarantee the convergence of evolutionary algorithms are described. And next the drift conditions which are used to estimate the hitting times of evolutionary algorithms are presented. Finally an example is given to show how to analyse hitting times of EAs by drift analysis approach.

multi-resolution TIN model is an important issue in the contexts of visu-alization,virtual reality (VR),and geographic information systems (GIS). This paper proposes a new method for constructing multi-resolution TIN models with multi-scale topographic features preservation. The proposed method is driven by a half-edge collapse operation in a greedy framework and employs a new quadric error metric to efficiently measure geometric errors. We define topographic features in a multi-scale manner using a center-surround operator on Gaussian-weighted mean curvatures. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method performs better than previous methods in terms of topographic features preservation,and is able to achieve multi-resolution TIN models with a higher accuracy.

High resolution solid-state 29Si MAS NMR,combined with XRD,SEM and FTIR were used to characterize the pozzolanic activity of FA,type of main pozzolanic reaction products,and the effect of pozzolanic reaction on the C-S-H microstructure in fly ash-cement （FC） *** experimental results indicate that in the hydrated FC paste with 30% dosage of FA at 3 d,FA partially participated in the pozzolanic reaction,while,at 120 d,FA largely *** the hydration of FC paste at laboratory temperature,the pozzolanic reaction products are C-S-H gel rather than zeolitic ***,after the covalent bonds of Si-O-Si,Si-O-Al and Al-O-Al in the structure of FA are broken,monosilicates Si-OH and Al-OH groups form,these chemical species can connect C-S-H dimers,thus producing more Al-free C-S-H and aluminous C-S-H than in the plain cement *** increased content of Al for Si substitution in the bridging tetrahedra of C-S-H may decrease the stability of C-S-H,which results in a rather obvious loss in the mechanical strength of hardened FC paste.

A fast algorithm is proposed to solve a kind of high complexity multi-objective problems in this paper. It takes advantages of both the orthogonal design method to search evenly, and the statistical optimal method to speed up the computation. It is very suitable for solving high complexity problems, and quickly yields solutions which converge to the Pareto-optimal set with high precision and uniform distribution. Some complicated multi-objective problems are solved by the algorithm and the results show that the algorithm is not only fast but also superior to other MOGAS and MOEAs, such as the currently efficient algorithm SPEA, in terms of the precision, quantity and distribution of solutions.

In this paper, based on the following theoretical framework: Evolutionary Algorithms + Program Structures = Automatic Programming , some results on complexity of automatic programming for function modeling is given, which show that the complexity of automatic programming is an exponential function of the problem dimension N , the size of operator set ｜F｜ and the height of the program parse tree H . Following this results, the difficulties of automatic programming are discussed. Some function models discovered automatically from database by evolutionary modeling method are given, too.
