Impact of industrial wastewater disposal on surface water bodies in Mostord area, North Greater Cairo

The studied area (Shoubra El Khima, Bahteem and Mostorod) lies in the industrial area north of Greater Cairo. The area suffers from several environmental problems such as sewage and disposal of pollutants from the surrounding factories into the surface water pathways in the area. Water samples were collected seasonally from different waterways found in the area, domestic and or industrial liquid wastes from 12 discharge tubes of different factories (as a point source of pollution). Chemical characteristics of different water samples and its heavy metals content were determined using ion coupled plasma technique (ICP). Results indicate that industrial and domestic wastewater samples contain several toxic levels of tested heavy metals (Cd, Co, Pb and Ni) which have a serious impact on surface waterways in the area. Shebin El Qanater collector drain samples exhibited the highest levels of Cd, Co, Pb and Ni compared to other tested water bodies. Mostorod collector drain samples showed the highest levels of Zn and Cu. Industrial effluent samples collected from Cairo Company for Fabric industry had the highest amounts of total Zn Cu, Cd, Co and Pb, while Delta steel company discharges the highest amounts of total Fe and Mn. Al Ahleya Plastic Company discharges the highest amounts of total Ni. Generally, it is necessary to impose the environmental laws and its regulation regarding the industrial wastewater treatments and disposals to minimize the risk of the adverse effects of these pollutants.

Dielectric Properties of Some Borate Glasses

The dielectric constant, e', and the dielectric loss. e', for some selected lead borate glasses within the frequency band 105 to 107 Hz and the temperature range (20-50)'C were measured. The dielectric dispersion and the dielectric loss absorption bands were observed. the relaxation time, the activation enthalpy and entropy change of the dielectric relaxation were calculated. The results obtained were discussed and correlated to the internal network structure of the glasses studied.

BACKGROUND Diabesity(diabetes as a consequence of obesity)has emerged as a huge healthcare challenge across the globe due to the obesity *** use of antidiabetic medications including semaglutide is important for optimal management of diabesity as proven by multiple randomized controlled ***,more real-world data is needed to further improve the clinical *** To study the real-world benefits and side effects of using semaglutide to manage patients with *** We evaluated the efficacy and safety of semaglutide use in managing patients with diabesity in a large academic hospital in the United *** parameters were analyzed including demographic information,the data on improvement of glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c),body weight reduction and insulin dose adjustments at 6 and 12 months,as well as at the latest follow up *** data was obtained from the electronic patient records between January 2019 to May *** 106 patients(56 males)with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),mean age 60.8±11.2 years,mean durations of T2DM 12.4±7.2 years and mean semaglutide treatment for 2.6±1.1 years were *** treatment was associated with significant improvement in diabesity outcomes such as mean weight reductions from baseline 110.4±24.6 kg to 99.9±24.9 kg at 12 months and 96.8±22.9 kg at latest follow up and HbA1c improvement from baseline of 82±21 mmol/mol to 67±20 at 12 months and 71±23 mmol/mol at the latest follow *** insulin dose reduction from mean baseline of 95±74 units to 76.5±56.2 units was also observed at the latest follow *** effects were mild and mainly gastrointestinal like bloating and nausea improving with prolonged use of *** Semaglutide treatment is associated with significant improvement in diabesity outcomes such as reduction in body weight,HbA1c and insulin doses without major adverse *** of largescale real-world data are expected to inform better clinical

The interaction of a purely mean flow with a peristaltic induced flow is investigated within the framework of a two-dimensional *** mathematical model considers a viscous incompressible couple-stress fluid between infinite arallel walls on which a sinusoidal travelling wave is imposed.A perturbation solution to the complete set of Navier-Siokes equations in found for the case in which the frequency of the travelling wave and that of the imposed pressure gradient are *** ratio of the travelling wave amplitude to channel width is assumed to be *** this case a first order steady flow is found to exisi,as contrasted to a second order effect in the absence of the imposed periodic pressure *** effects of the various parameters entering to the problem are discussed numerically.

Peristaltic pumping by a sinusoidal traveling wave in the walls of a two-dimensional channel field with a viscous incompressible couple-stress fluid, is investigated theoretically. A perturbation solution is obtained which satisfies the momentum equation for the case in which the amplitude ratio (wave amplitude/channel half width) is small. The results show that the mean axial velocity decreases with increasing the couple-stress parameter η. The phenomenon of reflux (the mean flow reversal) is discussed. A reversal of velocity in the neighborhood of the centerline and at the boundaries occurs. Numerical results are reported for various values of the physical parameters of interest.

Cobalt in alluvial egyptian soils as affected by industrial activities

Twenty five surface (0—20 cm) soil samples were collected from different locations in egypt representing non polluted, moderately and highly polluted soils. The aim of this study was to evaluate total Co content in alluvial soils of Delta in egypt using the delayed neturen activation analysis technique (DNAA). The two prominent gamma ray lines at 1173 2 and 1332 5 keV was efficiently used for 60 Co determination. Co content in non polluted soil samples ranged between 13 12 to 23 20 ppm Co with an average of 18 16±4.38 ppm. Cobalt content in moderately polluted soils ranged between 26 5 to 30 00 ppm with an average of 28 3±1.3 ppm. The highest Co levels (ranged from 36 to 64 69 ppm with an average of 51 9±9.5); were observed in soil samples collected from, either highly polluted agricultural soils due to prolonged irrigation with industrial wastewater or surface soil samples from industrial sites.

Factors Controlling Bioindicators For Industrial Pollution Detection

This study describes the use of algae as potential bioindicators of pollution containing industrial metals. Phytoplanktonic algae varied with waste type and with environmental and growth conditions. In water samples containing ceramic waste Euglenophyta species and Cyclotella sp. (Bacillariophyta) were determined as potential indicator species of pollution, while in sample containing metallic waste, Cyclotella sp. was most dominant. Under laboratory growth conditions, phytoplankton collected from a major stream of the Nile, River were cultivated by using Algal Growth Bottle Test (EPA, 1972). This revealed that Scencdesmus sp., Actinastrum hantzschii (Chlorophyta), Oscillatoria limnetica (Cyanophyta) and Nitzschia linearis (Bacillariophyta) were also potential indicators of pollution.

Optical Dispersion Parameters with Different Orientations for SrLaAlO_4 Single Crystals

The different optical dispersion parameters of SrLaAIO4 single crystals have been studied by the transmission andreflection measurements at normal incidence for the three orientations 001, 100 and 101 in the spectral range400 nm^2500 *** optical absorption data revealed the existance of allowed indirect and direct transition. Therefractive index has abnormal behaviour in the spectral region 400~900 nm, but has a normal one in the higherwavelength region. The optical dispersion parameters, the single oscillator energy Eo and the dispersion energy Edwere determined and indicated the ionic structure of the material. The high-frequency dielectric constant, the latticedielectric constant and the electronic polarizability were determined by the free carriers and the lattice vibrationmodes. The real dielectric constant (?)1, the dielectric loss tangent (tanδ), the volume (VELF) and the surface energyloss function (SELF) have also been discussed.
