An adaptive version of immersed boundary method for simulating flows with complex stationary and moving boundaries is *** method employs a ghost-cell methodology which allows for a sharp representation of the immersed *** simplify the implementation of the methodology,a volume-of-fluid method is introduced to identify the immersed *** addition,the domain is spatially discretized using a tree-based discretization which is relatively simple to implement a fully flexible adaptive refinement ***,the methodology is validated by comparing it with numerical and experimental results on three cases:(1) the flow passing a circular cylinder at Re=40 and Re=100,(2) a periodic oscillation of a circular cylinder in fluid at rest and(3) the self-propelled fish-like swimming at Re=6400.

In this paper, two sub-grid scale (SGS) models are introduced into the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM), i.e., the dynamics SGS model and the dynamical system SGS model, and applied to numerically solving three-dimensional high Re turbulent cavity flows. Results are compared with those obtained from the Smagorinsky model and direct numerical simulation for the same cases. It is shown that the method with LBM dynamics SGS model has advantages of fast computation speed, suitable to simulate high Re turbulent flows. In addition, it can capture detailed fine structures of turbulent flow fields. The method with LBM dynamical system SGS model dose not contain any adjustable parameters, and can be used in simulations of various complicated turbulent flows to obtain correct information of sub-grid flow field, such as the backscatter of energy transportation between large and small scales. A new average method of eliminating the inherent unphysical oscillation of LBM is also given in the paper.

In this paper, a truncated hybrid method is proposed and developed for solving sparse large-scale nonlinear programming problems. In the hybrid method, a symmetric system of linear equations, instead of the usual quadratic programming subproblems, is solved at iterative process. In order to ensure the global convergence, a method of multiplier is inserted in iterative process. A truncated solution is determined for the system of linear equations and the unconstrained subproblems are solved by the limited memory BFGS algorithm such that the hybrid algorithm is suitable to the large-scale problems. The local convergence of the hybrid algorithm is proved and some numerical tests for medium-sized truss problem are given.

This paper analyzes the influence of multi-defects including the initial distortions,welding residual stresses,cracks and local dents on the ultimate strength of the plate element,and has worked out expressions of reliability calculation and sensitivity analysis of the plate *** analysis is made for the system with multi-defects plate *** mechanism,failure paths and the calculating approach to global reliability index are also worked *** plate elements with multi-defects fail,the formula of reverse node forces which affect the residual structure is deduced,so are the sensitivity expressions of the system reliability *** ensures calculating accuracy and rationality for reliability analysis,and makes it convenient to find weakness plate elements which affect the reliability of the structure ***,for the validity of the approach proposed,we take the numerical example of a ship cabin to compare and contrast the reliability and the sensitivity analysis of the structure system with multi-defects with those of the structure system with no *** approach has implications for the structure design,rational maintenance and renewing strategy.

In this article, we exploit the idea of network-coded cooperative protocol in aeronautical communications which combines different source nodes＇ information at the relay and joint decoding at the destination. Recently, the network coding in cooperative communications has been categorized into two mainstreams, bit-level and signal-level combinations, which are both discussed in the article. And to be exclusively,multiple access relay channel（MARC） is adopted. The mutual information expressions of both above-cited network-coded protocols are deduced, which prove that without proper selected relays to perform network coding, the spatial diversity of the proposed protocol cannot be obtained. This then leads to search for the selection and grouping algorithms. An adjacency matrix is defined to describe the connectivity of the nodes in one radio contact disk, so that, the selection and grouping of algorithm is equivalent to constructing this adjacency matrix to minimize the system outage probability evaluated in term of the mutual information. Besides, a network-coded cooperative protocol requires the acyclic network, of which the construction is to avoid loop-4 in the matrix. The article ends with simulations to demonstrate the viability of the proposed algorithms.

The aeroelastic analysis of high-altitude, long-endurance （HALE） aircraft that features high-aspect-ratio flexible wings needs take into account structural geometrical nonlinearities and dynamic stall. For a generic nonlinear aeroelastic system, besides the stability boundary, the characteristics of the limit-cycle oscillation （LCO） should also be accurately predicted. In order to conduct nonlinear aeroelastic analysis of high-aspect-ratio flexible wings, a first-order, state-space model is developed by combining a geometrically exact, nonlinear anisotropic beam model with nonlinear ONERA （Edlin） dynamic stall model. The present investigations focus on the initiation and sustaining mechanism of the LCO and the effects of flight speed and drag on aeroelastic behaviors. Numerical results indicate that structural geometrical nonlinearities could lead to the LCO without stall occurring. As flight speed increases, dynamic stall becomes dominant and the LCO increasingly complicated. Drag could be negligible for LCO type, but should be considered to exactly predict the onset speed of flutter or LCO of high-aspect-ratio flexible wings.

The nature and characteristics of attack unmanned combat aerial vehicle （UCAV） are analyzed. The principles of selecting takeoff thrust-weight ratio and takeoff weight of attack UCAV are presented by analyzing the statistical data of weights for various main combat aircraft. The UCAV airborne weapons are analyzed, followed by the preliminary estimation of the payload weight. Various typical engines are analyzed and one of them is selected. Then the takeoff weight of the UCAV is determined. Based on some basic parameters and assumptions, the qualitative decomposition calculation for takeoff weight is completed. The key factors for obtaining longer endurance of aircraft with small aspect ratio configuration are found to be high lift-drag ratio and internal space. On the basis of the conclusions mentioned above, a highly blended flying-wing plus lifting body concept is proposed. According to this concept, the UCAV configuration is designed and optimized. Finally, the UCAV configuration with small aspect ratio, high lift-drag ratio, and high stealth characteristic is obtained.

Application of Tandem Cascade to Design of Fan Stator with Supersonic Inflow

This article proposes a tandem cascade constructed to tackle the thorny problem of designing the high-loaded stator with a supersonic inflow and a large turning angle. The front cascade adopts a supersonic profile to reduce the shock wave intensity turning the flow into subsonic,while the rear cascade adopts a subsonic profile with a large camber offering the flow a large turning angle. It is disclosed that the losses would be minimized if the leading edge of the rear cas- cade lies close to the pressure side of the front cascade at a distance of 20% pitch in pitch-wise direction without either axial spacing or overlapping in axial direction. The 2D numerical test results show that,with the inflow Mach number of 1.25 and the turning angle of 52° ,the total pressure loss coefficient of the tandem cascade reaches 0. 106 ,and the diffusion factor 0. 745. Finally,this article has designed and simulated a high-loaded fan stage with the proposed tandem stator,which has the pressure ratio of 3.15 and the efficiency of 86.32% at the rotor tip speed of 495.32 m/s.

New discrimination method for ablative control mechanism in solid-propellant rocket nozzle

A reasonable discrimination method for ablative control mechanism in solid-propellant rocket nozzle can improve the calculation accuracy of ablation rate. Based on the different rate constants for reactions of C with H2O and CO2,a new discrimination method for ablative control mechanism,which comprehensively considers the influence of nozzle surface temperature and gas component concentration,is presented. Using this new discrimination method,calculations were performed to simulate the nozzle throat insert ablation. The numerical results showed that the calculated ablation rate,which was more close to the measured values,was less than the value calculated by diffusion control mechanisms or by double control mechanisms. And H2O was proved to be the most detrimental oxidizing species in nozzle ablation.

A vectrix cross-product operator identity is presented which shows thesymmetrical relationship between a column matrix and a vectrix. The kinematics ofvectrices and other commonly used relations are then easily obtained with it. The timederivative of the transformation matrix is extended to a more general form ofexpression. The results can be used conveniently in the modeling of flight dynamics inwhich many reference frames must be used.
