Sol-gel preparation and spectroscopic study of the pyrophanite MnTiO_3 nanoparticles

The nanosized xerogel of titanium dioxide (TiO2) and manganese oxides (MnO2, Mn2O3, Mn3O4) was prepared by the sol-gel method using manganese chloride (MnCl2·4H2O) and titanium isopropoxide (Ti(O-iPr)4) as precursors in cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)/ ethanol/H2O/HCl micelle solutions, following the calcinations of the produced powders at differ-ence temperatures. The nanostructure and phase composition of these nanoparticles were characterized with X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), en-ergy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The spectroscopic characterizations of these nanoparticles were also done with UV-Vis spectroscopy and laser Raman spectroscopy (LRS). XRD patterns show that the pyrophanite MnTiO3 phase was formed at the calcinations temperature of 900℃. The TEM images show that the nanoparti-cles are almost spherical or slight ellipose and the sizes are 50 nm on average. The UV-Vis spectra show that the nanosized MnTiO3 have significant absorption bands in the visible region. There are new absorption peaks of MnTiO3 nanoparticles in LRS compared with the pure TiO2 powder.

Dark energy from logarithmically modified gravity and deformed Coleman-Weinberg potential

Recent astrophysical measurements strongly suggest the existence of a missing energy component dubbed dark energy that is responsible for the current accelerated expansion of the universe.A new class of modified gravity theory is introduced which yields a universe accelerating in time and dominated by dark *** new modified gravity model constructed here concurrently includes a Gauss-Bonnet invariant term,barotropic fluid with a time-dependent equation of state parameter,a Coleman-Weinberg（CW） potential-like expression V（φ） =ξφm lnφn and a new Einstein-Hilbert term f（R,φ） =E（φ） R which depends on both the scalar curvature and the scalar fieldφthrough a generic logarithmic function E（φ） =lnφ.Here m and n take different values from the standard CW potential andξis a real parameter. It was shown that the presence of these terms provides many useful features which are discussed in some detail.

Effect of Biodiesel on Oxidation Stability, Detergency and Antiwear Ability of Diesel Oil

Different contents of biodiesel and petrodiesel were incorporated into diesel engine oils. The oxidative stability, detergency and antiwear performance of the formulated diesel oils were evaluated. The results indicated that, compared with petrodiesel, biodiesel was more liable to promote oxidation degradation of diesel oils, leading to worse oxidative stability, detergency and antiwear ability of the oils.

Additives were used to increase gas hydrate formation rate and storage capacity. Experimental tests of methane hydrate formation were carried out in surfactant water solutions in a high-pressure *** dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and alkyl polysaccharide glycoside (APG) were used to increase hydrate formation. The effect of SDS on hydrate formation is more pronounced compared APG. Cyclopentane (CP) also improves hydrate formation rates while it cannot increase methane gas storage capacity.

Easy to Calibrate:Marker-Less Calibration of Multiview Azure Kinect

Reconstructing a three-dimensional(3D)environment is an indispensable technique to make augmented reality and augmented virtuality feasible.A Kinect device is an efficient tool for reconstructing 3D environments,and using multiple Kinect devices enables the enhancement of reconstruction density and expansion of virtual *** employ multiple devices simultaneously,Kinect devices need to be calibrated with respect to each *** are several schemes available that calibrate 3D images generated frommultiple Kinect devices,including themarker detection *** this study,we introduce a markerless calibration technique for Azure Kinect devices that avoids the drawbacks of marker detection,which directly affects calibration accuracy;it offers superior userfriendliness,efficiency,and ***,we applied a joint tracking algorithm to approximate the *** methods require the information of multiple joints for calibration;however,Azure Kinect,the latest version of Kinect,requires the information of only one *** obtained result was further refined using the iterative closest point *** conducted several experimental tests that confirmed the enhanced efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method for multiple Kinect devices when compared to the conventional markerbased calibration.

Serpentine Jade(Bowenite) in korea

A bowenite deposit, recently discovered in Booyo County, Republic of korea, is the first of its kind in the country. This deposit is located along the contacts of garnet veins intruding the serpentinite. The bowenite is translucent, dark green in color, greasy in luster, 5 in Mohs ’ scale of hardness, ～2.57 in SG , 2.58 in RI , and 1.56 in N D . The X ray powder diffraction analysis identified the bowenite as antigorite of the serpentine group minerals, whose major chemical compositions are composed of SiO 2 (42.49 %), MgO (39.08 %), Fe 2O 3 (3.85 %), and H 2O (11.87 %) and whose important trace elements include Cr (2 188×10 -6 ), Ni (1 110×10 -6 ), and Co (58×10 -6 ). The IR spectrum shows the absorptions at 3 670 (OH stretching), 1 190, 1 070, 980 (SiO stretching) and 610 cm -1 (OH bending). The DTA/TGA thermogram shows the peaks at 343, 755 and 830.1 ℃. The endothermic reaction at 755 ℃ denotes expulsion of structural water, and the strong exothermal reaction at 830.1 ℃ is related to the formation of olivine. Black inclusions finely dispersed in the mineral are identified, with X ray Gandolfi camera method, as magnetite.

In-situ Synthesis of ZSM-5 Zeolite from Metakaolin/Spinel and Its Catalytic Performance on Methanol Conversion

ZSM-5 zeolite was in-situ synthesized from metakaolin or s alumina sources, respectively. The ZSM-5 zeolite was characterized pinel by incorporating additional silica and by X-ray diffractometry （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, Fourier transform infrared （FT-IR） spectroscopy and N2 adsorption measurement. This supported zeolite was tested on the methanol to propylene （MTP） processes. Experimental results showed that the ZSM-5 zeolite exhibited high selectivity for propylene. The yield of propylene on ZSM-5 zeolite made from metakaolin was increased by 17.73%, while that on ZSM-5 zeolite made from spinel was raised by 9.90%, compared to that achieved with the commercial ZSM-5 zeolite. The significant increase in propylene production is probably due to the distinctive morphology of the ZSM-5 zeolite, which possessed a rough external surface covered with sphere-like particles and distribution of small crystals sized at around 400--500 nm. This morphology could help to generate more crystal defects so that more active centers could be exposed to the reaction mixture. In addition, the zeolite product had a gradient pore distribution and many medium Brǒnsted acid sites, both of which might also contribute to the increased propylene production.

Formation of hyperbranched polymers in atom transfer radical copolymerization of MMA and DVB

Hyperbranched poly(methyl methacrylate)s (HPMMAs) have been successfully prepared by atom transfer radical copolymerization of MMA and divinylbenzene (DVB).Kinetic study shows complete consumption of the initiator in 0.5 h,and relatively low polymerization rate when DVB content in the feed was *** analyzing MALDI-TOF spectra of the resulting copolymers,the linear A n B (n=0,1,2,3) oligomers were formed in 0.5 h of polymerization,and then the oligomers reacted each other to form dimers,further reactions produced *** SEC and NMR spectroscopies were used to trace the polymerization,and the results demonstrate that small amount of the branching reactions occur in the initial polymerization,and the branched polymers are significantly generated past a certain conversion depending upon the feed *** the content of DVB in the monomer mixture can increase the pendent vinyl groups of the linear oligo-inimers,leading to gelation at low MMA conversion.

Structure of the Manganese (V) Complex-Mn·3/2(μ-DHBQ)·4H_2O·2Cl

The novel complex of Mn(V): Mn·3/2(μ -DHBQ)·4H2O·2Cl (where, H2DHBQ =2,5-dihydroxyl- 1,4-benzoquinone) was synthesized and its crystal structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The complex belongs to trigonal system with space group P3(# 147), a= 1 .415(2)nm, c=0.6552(4) nm, V=1 .1371(7) nm-3, Z=2, Dx=1.183 g/cm3, μ=7.37 cm-1, F(000)=408.00,R=0.041, Rw=0.046.
