Further study of sources of the imported cobalt-blue pigment used on Jingdezhen porcelain from late 13 to early 15 centuries

Based on the conclusion of modern scientific analysis: the cobalt-blue pigment applied on Jingdezhen official porcelain during Yuan Dynasty and prior to Xuande reign of Ming Dynasty (1271―14.5) contains high iron and low manganese con- tents, and the cobalt during Xuande and after Xuande periods (after 14.6) of Ming Dynasty contains high manganese and low iron contents, in combination with the traditional archaeological method, the related historical textual records were in- vestigated and analyzed, the imported cobalt employed on Jingdezhen official porcelain was studied comprehensively, systematically and logically. In fact, 'Su Ma Li Qing' (Samarra-blue) and 'Su Bo Ni Qing' (Sumatra-blue) are definitely different cobalt ores originated in different places, because of their very similar translitera- tions in Chinese, the confusion has appeared in ancient books for more than 4.0 years, which considered 'Su Ma Li Qing' and 'Su Bo Ni Qing' as the same co- balt-blue pigment. In this article the mistake was corrected, the possible producing places and the approximate eras of the two pigments imported to china and used at Jingdezhen were also suggested.

Investigation of 'chazi'(damaged-enamels)on Chenghua doucai Porcelains

At the end of the 1950s,Sun Yingzhou considered that the 'chazi'(damaged colour)on Chenghua doucai imperial porcelain as a defect was originally produced in firing process during Chenghua period(14.5―14.7).Researchers in china have accepted his *** any fragment with the 'chazi' has never been found in several tons of Chenghua imperial sherds excavated from Ming imperial kiln site in *** china,few scholars have questioned the formation of 'chazi',and further investigated *** researchers at the Research Laboratory in the British Museum,employing unde-structive EDXRF,have analyzed the chemical composition of the 'chazi'(damaged colour)on a Chen-ghua doucai stem cup in the museum,and they have confirmed that the 'chazi'(damaged colour)was caused by the fire of the Jianfu palace in the Forbidden City in *** on their research,the authors studied the colour chemical principle of the 'chazi's' formation *** to the ceramic technology principle,scientific reasoning for the 'chazi' was carried *** the help of the history of Qing court,the brainteaser of the 'chazi' was totally uncovered,the misunderstanding for the 'chazi' has also been *** research also suggests that employing modern science and technology is a direction to study Chinese ancient ceramic further.

Approximately optimal tracking control for discrete time-delay systems with disturbances

Optimal tracking control (OTC) for discrete time-delay systems affected by persistent disturbances with quadratic performance index is considered. By introducing a sensitivity parameter,the original OTC problem is transformed into a series of two-point boundary value (TPBV) problems without time-advance or time-delay terms. The obtained OTC law consists of analytic feedforward and feedback terms and a compensation term which is the sum of an infinite series of adjoint vectors. The analytic feedforward and feedback terms can be found by solving a Riccati matrix equation and two Stein matrix equations. The compensation term can be obtained by using an iteration formula of the adjoint vectors. Observers are constructed to make the approximate OTC law physically realizable. A simulation example shows that the approximate approach is effective in tracking the reference input and robust with respect to exogenous persistent disturbances.

Low friction under ultrahigh contact pressure enabled by self-assembled fluorinated azobenzene layers

Extensive efforts have been made to pursue a low-friction state with promising applications in many fields,such as mechanical and biomedical *** which,the load capacity of the low-friction state has been considered to be crucial for industrial ***,we report a low friction under ultrahigh contact pressure by building a novel self-assembled fluorinated azobenzene layer on an atomically smooth highly-oriented pyrolytic graphite(HOPG)*** friction coefficients could be as low as 0.0005 or even lower under a contact pressure of up to 4.*** demonstrates that the low friction under ultrahigh contact pressure is attributed to molecular *** fluorination leads to effective and robust lubrication between the tip and the self-assembled layer and enhances tighter rigidity which can reduce the stress concentration in the substrate,which was verified by density functional theory(DFT)and molecular dynamics(MD)*** work provides a new approach to avoid the failure of ultralow friction coefficient under relatively high contact pressure,which has promising potential application value in the future.

Analysis on Influence Factors of Real-time Identification of Neural Network in Sheet Intelligent Bending

The scheme of intelligent control system of cap-bending has been advanced in this paper using the neural network technology, based on the prominent problem that bending springback difficult to control accurately during the forming process of cap-bending. The key technology of real-time identification for material performance parameter and friction coefficient was researched, and the back-propagation neural network of real-time identification for material performance parameters and friction coefficient was established, which can real-time identify the needed material performance parameters through the real-time monitoring variable. Factors that affecting recognition results of neural network model were analyzed, such as influences of the selection of the sample date and the algorithm for identification result. Factors affecting neural network generalization ability were discussed, such as influences of the selection of the sample date and the node number of the hidden layer for generalization ability. The results provide a guarantee for improving the convergence accuracy and the generalization ability of network, and provide a basis for the building of intelligent bending control of network model.

Preparation, characterization, viscosity and thermal conductivity of CaCO_3 aqueous nanofluids

CaCO3 aqueous nanofluids were prepared by dispensing aqueous CaCO3 paste into distilled water under ultrasonic vibration. The actual microstructures of the CaCO3 nanofluids with different particle volume fractions were characterized by freeze etching replication transmission electron microscopy (FERTEM). Thermal conductivity and rheological behavior of the nanofluids were measured by standard analyzers. The results show that CaCO3 paste as raw material for nanofluids is advantageous to reducing aggregation of primary nanoparticles. The effective viscosities and effective thermal conductivities of the CaCO3 nanofluids are related to the aggregates of nanoparticles and can be well predicted by the modified Krieger & Dougherty formula and the modified Hamilton & Crosser model, respectively.

The optimal output tracking control (OTC) problem for nonlinear systems with time-delay is *** a series-based approx- imate approach,the original OTC problem is transformed into iteration solving linear two-point boundary value problems without time- *** OTC law obtained consists of analytical linear feedback and feedforward terms and a nonlinear compensation term with an infinite series of the adjoint *** truncating a finite sum of the adjoint vector series,an approximate optimal tracking control law is obtained.A reduced-order reference input observer is constructed to make the feedforward term physically *** exam- ples are used to test the validity of the series-based approximate approach.

A video encryption method based on chaotic maps in DCT domain

This paper proposes a new and secure video encryption method based on chaotic maps in DCT domain,which is quite in keeping with the common ideas and the frequent practices of video *** select the I-frames of the video sequence as encryption objects. First,we introduce two coupling chaotic maps to scramble the DCT coefficients of every original I-frame,and receive the scrambled ***,we encrypt the DCT coefficients of the scrambled 1-frame using another chaotic *** the whole process,we use three chaotic maps and five keys;the I-frame is encrypted ***,we performed several tests and the experimental results have proved our method to be secure and efficient.

Adsorption of zinc on manganite(γ-MnOOH): particle concentration effect and adsorption reversibility

The adsorption and desorption processes of Zn(Ⅱ) on γ-MnOOH as a function of particle concentrations(C p) were studied. An obvious C p effect was observed in this adsorption system. The degree of adsorption hysteresis increased greatly with the increasing of C p, indicating that the extent of the real metastable-equilibrium states deviating from the ideal equilibrium state was enhanced with the increasing of C p. The C p-reversibility relationship confirmed the metastable-equilibrium adsorption(MEA) inequality(Pan, 1998a), which was the core formulation of the MEA theory. Because the MEA inequality was based on the basic hypothesis of MEA theory that adsorption density Γ is not a state variable, the C p-reversibility relationship gave indirect evidence to the basic hypothesis of MEA theory.

Stereocontrol during the radical polymerization of methyl methacrylates with combined Lewis acids:Aluminium trichloride(AlCl_3) and iron dichloride tetrahydrate

The radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate(MMA) was carried out in the presence of combined Lewis acids of the AlCl3-FeCl2 *** with the polymerization produced in the presence of single Lewis acids,AlCl3 or FeCl2,the MMA polymerization in the presence of AlCl3-FeCl2 composite in CHCl3 or 1-butanol produced a polymer with a higher isotacticity and in toluene produced a polymer with a much higher isotacticity(mm=50%) .The molecular weight and polydispersity of PMMA in the presence of Lewis acids were similar with those in the absence of Lewis acids,although Lewis acids decelerate the polymerization of *** effects of the Lewis acids were greater in a solvent with a lower polarity.A possible stereocontrol mechanism of the polymerization was *** Lewis acid composite of AlCl3-FeCl2 readily formed a complex with growing *** complexes possessed apparent bulkiness that changes the direction of monomer addition to the growing radical center.
