Reproductive behaviors are poorly known for the Yangtze finless porpoise Neophocaena phocaenoides asiaeorientalis. In this study, the parentage of an isolated Yangtze finless porpoise population inhabiting the Yangtze Tian-e-zhou Baiji National Natural Reserve is determined by analysis of microsatellite loci and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) control region sequences, and the porpoise's reproductive behaviors are studied. Overall 4 full parentage assignments and additional 3 single parentage assignments were determined for the population of 23 individuals. The analysis shows that their estimated reproductive cycle is shorter than that reported previously and there probably exists an overlapping between gestation and lactation period. The study also shows that the female does not show fidelity to a particular male for breeding and vice versa, the oldest males did not monopolize mating and the dominance rank could not be so strict for the porpoise society. Moreover, the porpoise's mating pattern and relatedness among candidate parents are discussed here. These results provide important information for making guidelines of management and conservation for this protected population.

A system is described here that can noninvasively control the navigation of freely behaving rat via ultrasonic,epidermaland LED photic stimulators on the *** system receives commands from a remote host computer to deliver specifiedelectrical stimulations to the hearing,pain and visual senses of the rat *** results demonstrate that the three stimuliwork in groups for the rat *** can control the rat to proceed and make right and left turns with great *** verified that the rat was able to reach a setting destination in the way of cable with the help of a person through theappropriate coordination of the three *** telemetry video camera mounted on the head of the rat also achieveddistant image acquisition and helped to adjust its navigation path over a distance of 300 *** a word,the non-invasive motioncontrol navigation system is a good,stable and reliable bio-robot.

The existing spatially variant apodizations (SVAs) either cannot depress the sidelobes effectively or reduce the energy of the *** improve this,a modified SVA (MSVA) is put forward in this paper,which expands the traditional filter from 3-taps to 5-taps and sets relevant parameters according to different sampling rates to get the excellent result that satisfies constrained optimization theory.A method for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) sidelobe control based on MSVA is presented,which applies MSVA to range compression and azimuth compression to control *** method which is available for any Nyquist sampling rate can both depress the sidelobes effectively and keep the energy of the mainlobe and the resolution of the *** method can reduce sidelobe levels more effectively than classical amplitude weighting while maintaining the image resolution,as demonstrated by the result of the experiment.

Photo-consistency estimation is an important part for many image-based modeling *** paper presents a novel radiance-based color calibration method to reduce the uncertainty of photo-consistency estimation across multiple *** idea behind our method is to convert colors into a uniform radiometric color space in which multiple image data are *** results demonstrate that our method can achieve comparable color calibration effect without adjusting camera parameters and is more robust than other existing ***,we obtain an auto-determined threshold for photo-consistency check,which will lead to a better performance than existing photo-consistency based reconstruction algorithms.

This paper has made a theoretical study of enhanced transmission through a gold grating with arrays of subwavelength slits filled with nonlinear Kerr medium. The results of the research are based on rigorous finite-difference time domain calculations. The resonance transmission peaks in the investigated wavelength range are produced as a result of the surface plasmon resonance collaborated with the localized waveguide resonance. The paper also gives a detailed analysis of the influence exerted by various factors: thickness, third-order susceptibility and line refractive index of the nonlinear medium filled in the gold slits arrays and the incident intensity to the transmission. It is found that the small changes of parameters such as medium thickness, third-order susceptibility and line refractive index of the nonlinear medium filled in the gold slits arrays as well as the incident intensity can bring great changes of lateral shift and magnitude variation of the transmission resonance peaks. The report proposes that these phenomena can be applied to designing precise optical switches.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries （AZIBs） are fundamentally challenged by the instability of the electrode/electrolyte interface,predominantly due to irreversible zinc （Zn） deposition and hydrogen ***,the intricate mechanisms behind the electrochemical discrepancies induced by interfacial Zn2+-solvation and deposition behavior demand comprehensive *** molecules endowed with special functional groups （such as hydroxyl,carboxyl,etc.） have the potential to significantly optimize the solvation structure of Zn2+and regulate the interfacial electric double layer （EDL）.By increasing nucleation overpotential and decreasing interfacial free energy,these functional groups facilitate a lower critical nucleation radius,thereby forming an asymptotic nucleation model to promote uniform Zn ***,this study presents a pioneering approach by introducing trace amounts of n-butanol as solvation regulators to engineer the homogenized Zn （H-Zn） anode with a uniform and dense *** interfacial reaction and structure evolution are explored by in/ex-situ experimental techniques,indicating that the H-Zn anode exhibits dendrite-free growth,no by-products,and weak hydrogen evolution,in sharp contrast to the bare ***,the H-Zn anode achieves a remarkable Zn utilization rate of approximately 20% and simultaneously sustains a prolonged cycle life exceeding 500 ***,the H-Zn//NH4V4O10（NVO） full battery showcases exceptional cycle stability,retaining 95.04%capacity retention after 400 cycles at a large current density of 5 A *** study enlightens solvation-regulated additives to develop Zn anode with superior utilization efficiency and extended operational lifespan.

By using silkworms,Bombyx mori, fluorescent cocoon sex identification (FCSI) as an experimental material, direct fluorescence spectrometry of the cocoon surface indicates that the fluorescent color of silkworm cocoons is made up of two peaks of yellow and blue-purple fluorescence emission. The fluorescent difference between male and female cocoons is attributed to the differential absorption of yellow fluorescent substances by the midgut tissue of 5th instar female silkworms. Thin layer chromatography (TLC) and fluorescent spectra indicate that blue-purple fluorescent substances are composed of at least five blue-purple fluorescent pigments, and yellow fluorescent substances are made up of at least three. UV spectra and AlCl3 color reaction show that the three fluorescent yellow pigments are flavonoids or their glycosides. Silkworm FCSI is due to selective absorption or accumulation of the yellow fluorescent pigments by the posterior midgut cells of female 5th instar larvae. The cells of the FCSI silkworm midgut, especially the cylinder intestinal cells of the posterior midgut have a component which is a yellow fluorescent pigment-specific binding protein that may be vigorously expressed in the 5th instar larvae.

The electronic structure of stressed CrSi2 was calculated using the first-principle methods based on plane-wave pseudo-potential theory. The calculated results showed that, under the uniaxial compression, the energy level of CrSi2 shifted toward high energy and its energy gap became wider with the increasing uniaxial stress, while the gap became narrower under the negative uniaxial stress. When the negative uniaxial stress was up to -18.5 GPa, CrSi2 was converted into a direct-gap semiconductor with the band gap of 0.32 eV.

A transparent phase-pure anatase TiO2 nanofilm was prepared through magnetron sputtering method,and a subsequent annealing treatment awarded it the superhydrophilic *** make clear the mechanism of the heat-induced superhydrophilicity,the chemical composition and surface morphology of the film were investigated in detail and compared before and after the annealing treatment mainly by field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),X-ray diffraction method(XRD),Raman spectroscopy,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscope(XPS).The results suggest that the probable mechanism is in accordance with the UV-induced mechanism,where the heat-induced surface oxygen vacancies and hydroxyl radicals play important roles for achieving the superhydrophilicity.
