Strategic Analysis of a Regulatory Conflict Using Dem.ster-Shafer Theory and AHP for Preference Elicitation

Dem.ster-Shafer Theory (DST) and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) are integrated in order to elicit preference inform.tion from.experts regarding decision m.kers (Dm.) involved in a regulatory conflict. m.re precisely, DST is used for com.ining expert knowledge regarding preferences of a specific Dm.(the regulatory body), and AHP is em.loyed for ranking feasible states in the conflict for this sam. Dm. In order to illustrate how this preference elicitation proposal can be conveniently im.lem.nted in practice within the Graph m.del for Conflict Resolution (Gm.R), it is applied to a real construction dispute located in the city of Ipojuca, Brazil. The conflict is m.deled with three Dm.: support, opposition, and the regulatory body. Results show that the new preference m.thodology possesses m.ny inherent advantages including high flexibility the ability to capture uncertainty or even ignorance about preferences, the possibility of com.ining expert knowledge with respect to m.ssing preferences, and a substantial reduction in the num.er of pairwise com.arisons of states required to express preference inform.tion.

Hereditary diffuse gastric cancer(HDGC) is an inherited form.of gastric cancer that carries a poor prognosis. m.st HDGCs are caused by an autosom.l dom.nant genetic m.tation in the CDH1 gene, which carries a 70%-80% lifetim. risk of gastric cancer. Given its subm.cosal origin, endoscopic surveillance is an unreliable m.ans of early detection, and prophylactic gastrectom. is recom.ended for CDH1 positive individuals older than age 20 years. We describe the case of a m.le with recurrent gastric cancer who was diagnosed with HDGC secondary to the CDH1 m.tation, and we also describe the patient's pedigree and outcom.s of recom.ended genetic testing.

CreNCs around the aqueous *** CreNCs are readily transferred into water from.the organic nonsolvent *** CreNCs exhibit the tunable size(358-983 nm.,Cr loading(7.1%-19.1%),and Cr entrapm.nt efficiency(11.7%-80.2%),with tunable zeta potentials in different PVA *** CreNCs can delay release of Cr(III)and prolong the gelation tim. of HPAm.up to 27 days.

Cancer risk in prim.ry sclerosing cholangitis: Epidem.ology,prevention, and surveillance strategies

Prim.ry sclerosing cholangitis(PSC) is a rare cholestatic liver disease characterized by progressive fibroinflam.atory destruction of the intra-and/or extrahepatic biliary ducts. While its features and disease course can be variable,m.st patients with PSC have concurrent inflam.atory bowel disease and will eventually develop liver cirrhosis and end-stage liver disease, with liver transplantation representing the only potentially curative option. Im.ortantly,PSC is associated with a significantly increased risk of m.lignancy com.ared to the general population, m.inly cholangiocarcinom., gallbladder carcinom.,hepatocellular carcinom., and colorectal cancer, with nearly 50% of deaths in patients with PSC being due to cancer. Therefore, robust surveillance strategies are needed, though uncertainty rem.ins regarding how to best do so. In this review, we discuss the epidem.ology, prevention, and surveillance of cancers in patients with PSC. Where evidence is lim.ted, we present pragm.tic approaches based on currently available data and expert opinion.

Factors controlling nutrient availability to the developing fetus in rum.nants

Inadequate delivery of nutrients results in intrauterine growth restriction （IUGR）, which is a leading cause of neonatal m.rbidity and m.rtality in livestock. In rum.nants, inadequate nutrition during pregnancy is often prevalent due to frequent utilization of exensive forage based grazing system., m.king them.highly susceptible to changes in nutrient quality and availability. Delivery of nutrients to the fetus is dependent on a num.er of critical factors including placental growth and developm.nt, utero-placental blood flow, nutrient availability, and placenta m.tabolism.and transport capacity. Previous findings from.our laboratory and others, highlight essential roles for am.no acids and their m.tabolites in supporting norm.l fetal growth and developm.nt, as well as the critical role for am.no acid transporters in nutrient delivery to the fetus. The focus of this review will be on the role of m.terna nutrition on placental form.and function as a regulator of fetal developm.nt in rum.nants.

The short allele of the serotonin-transporter gene is associated with higher risk for anxiety and depression in Caucasians, but this association is still unclear in Asians. Here, we addressed this issue using behavioral and m.lti-m.dal m.I approaches in a large group of healthy Han Chinese participants （n = 233）. In contrast to findings in Caucasians, we found that long-allele （L） carriers had higher anxiety scores. In another group （n = 64） experiencing significant levels of depression or anxiety, the L-allele frequency was also significantly higher. In healthy participants, L-carriers had reduced functional and anatom.cal connectivity between the am.gdala and prefrontal cortex （PFC）, which was correlated with anxiety or depression scores. Our findings dem.nstrated that in Chinese Han participants, in contrast to Caucasians, the L-allele confers vulnerability to anxiety or depression and weakens top-down em.tional control between the PFC and am.gdala. Therefore, ethnic background should be taken into account in gene-related studies and their potential clinical applications.
