在我国社会主义市场经济条件下,新闻易读性关系到一份报纸的生死存亡,关系到党在群众中的影响力和舆论引导能力。在新闻国际竞争日益激烈的当代,新闻易读性关系到我国新闻的国际竞争力。本文从新闻的结构模式、新闻导语、直接引语的使用、表现手法和背景的使用等五个方面比较了英、汉新闻的易读性,并探讨了二者的易读性差异产生的根源:历史传统不同,所有制不同和新闻思维偏好不同。作者认为,我国新闻界应该大胆吸收英美新闻界的一切行之有效的写作技巧,丰富我国汉语新闻写作的“武库”,以提高我国汉语新闻的易读性。
