HPV and prostate cancer:A meta-analysis

Background:Observational studies suggest an association between human papillomavirus(HPV) infection and risk of prostate cancer(PCa).However,the relationship between HPV infection and the risk of PCa is still *** aim of this meta-analysis is trying to explore whether HPV plays a role in increasing the risk of ***:Relevant studies up to Jan 2015 were searched in PubMed and Web of Science database.A random-effects model or fixed-effects model was employed to calculate odds ratio(OR) with 95%confidence intervals(95%CI) when *** was assessed using Q and 12 ***:Twenty-four case-control studies involving 971 patients and 1,085 controls were evaluated to estimate the association between HPV infection and PCa *** pooled estimate for OR was 2.27(95%CI,1.40-3.69).Stratified pooledanalyses were subsequently carried out according to theHPV detection methods,geographical regions,publication years and types of *** analysis based on various exclusion criteria maintained the significance with respect to PCa *** evidence of publication bias was ***:The meta-analysis suggests that HPV infection is associated with increasing the risk of PCa,which indicates a potential pathogenesis link between HPV and PCa.
