在谈论荷兰设计的时候，我们往往关注其先锋、前卫的一面，而很少注意其理性主义的一面，其实，荷兰在住宅方面的法律法规之严超过任何国家。不过．近年来，要求自由的呼声越来越强烈。二次世界大战后，大规模建设的需要使强调标准化的理性主义在住宅建设领域大行其道。住宅建设完全掌握在开发商、协会等手中，难免出现计划比较僵化和标准化至上等问题。这导致荷兰的许多城市特别是其郊区地段出现了许多功能单一、令人倍感乏味的街区。为了解决这困境，荷兰新城ALmere市当局决定在城市规划方面限制自己的权力。

报道了用间隙连接蛋白Cx43基因探针斜缝杂交,Cx43和肌专一蛋白免疫荧光染色和罗氏黄荧光传输法观察到人横纹肌肉瘤(RD细胞系)的分化异常,细胞通讯缺陷,Cx43表达下降。单细胞克隆亚系RDL6增殖活跃,分化差,细胞通讯缺陷,Cx43表达很低;另一亚系RDL3增殖慢,有明显肌分化,通讯功能强,Cx43及其mRNA的表达近似正常成肌细胞。Cx43 cDNA+neo基因转染RDL6得到Cx43稳定表达的克隆RDL6/C-4,其通讯功能恢复,增殖抑制,成肌性分化增强。本结果证明RD细胞分化阻断与Cx43降表达有关。Cx43的功能性表达不仅抑制瘤细胞增殖,而且与瘤细胞向正常分化有正相关性。

Functional expression of gap junction gene Cx43 and the myogenic differentiation of rhabdomyosarcoma cells

Rhabdomyosarcoma (RD) cells express low levels of the gap junction protein connexin 43 (Cx43), and its mRNA, and display very weak gap junctional intercellular communication (GJIC) as detected by Cx43 immunofluorescence, slot-blot and dye-transfer methods. These cells grow rapidly and show aberrant and incomplete myogenic differentiation. To investigate the role of gap junctions in these cells, the expression of Cx43 with relation to cell growth and myogenic differentiation in RD single-cell subclones-RDL3 and RDL6 is studied. The subclone RDL3 grows slowly and displays better myogenic differentiation. The expression of Cx43, its mRNA and the GJIC in RDL3 is comparable to that in normal myoblasts. Another subclone RDL6 which grows rapidly, but is poorly differentiated, expresses very low levels of Cx43 and its mRNA, and very weak GJIC. By using the calcium phosphate precipitate transfection technique, a full-length cDNA-encoding Cx43 and a pSV2neo have been introduced into the RDL6 cells. Several stably transfected clones have been obtained. A stable Cx43-transfectant clone RDL6/C4 expresses high level of Cx43 and its mRNA, and results in dramatic increase of GJIC. These cells grow slowly but display the enhanced myogenic differentiation. A correlation between the down-regulation of Cx43 gene expression and a reduced expression of myogenic differentiation in RD cells is demonstrated. Forced expression of Cx43 not only inhibits cell growth but also correlates with the improved myogenic differentiation of RD cells.

Psychometric properties of the interRAI subjective quality of life Instrument for mental health

A new Subjective Quality of Life (SQoL) Instrument for inpatient and community mental health settings was developed by the interRAI research collaborative to support evaluation of quality in mental health settings from the person’s perspective. Ratings of SQoL provide important information about the quality of service and patient experience with the care they receive. This information can help staff to improve approaches to each person’s plan of care in a manner that is meaningful to the individual. This study examined the reliability of the SQoL-MH. 83 inpatients from several clinical departments in a mental health center in South Western Ontario, Canada were randomly assigned to either be interviewed or complete the assessment on his or her own. Reliability was tested using Cronbach’s Alpha. A preliminary factor analysis points to four SQoL-MH subscales with very good internal consistency, ranging from 0.83 to 0.90. Once finalized, the Subjective Quality of Life instrument will be integral to the interRAI suite of instruments used to assess persons with mental health needs. A reliable and valid SQoL-MH instrument will allow mental health service providers to shape or modify care environments in order to enhance quality of life. In addition, the SQoL-MH instrument could also benefit advocacy groups who use reports on quality of life to influence social policy development and funding decisions.

Objective In this study,we assess the delivery of congenital pediatric surgical care under Brazil’s system of universal health coverage and evaluate differences in delivery between public and private *** A cross-sectional national survey of pediatric surgeons in Brazil was *** were asked which of 23 interventions identified through the Disease Control Priorities 3(Surgical Interventions for Congenital Anomalies)they perform and to report barriers faced while providing surgical *** were weighted by state and stratified by sector(public vs private).Results A sample of 352 responses was obtained and weighted to represent 1378 practicing pediatric surgeons registered in Brazil during the survey time.73%spend the majority of their time working in the public sector(‘SistemaÚnico de Saúde’and Foundation hospitals),and most of them also work in the private ***,Brazilian pediatric surgeons have the expertise to provide thoracic,abdominal,and urologic *** working mostly in the public sector were more likely to report a lack of access to essential medications(25%vs 9%,p<0.01)and a lack of access to hospital beds for surgical patients(52%vs 32%,p<0.01).Conclusions Brazilian pediatric surgeons routinely perform thoracic,abdominal,and urologic *** working in government-financed hospitals face barriers related to infrastructure,which may impact Brazilians who rely on Brazil’s universal health coverage *** that support pediatric surgeons working in the public sector may promote the workforce available to provide congenital pediatric surgical care.
