AIM: To determine the effect of multiple injections of ranibizumab or bevacizumab on retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). ·METHODS: This retrospective study includes 35 eyes of 35 patients treated with intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB, 1.25mg/0.05mL) and 30 eyes of 30 patients with intravitreal ranibizumab (IVR, 0.5mg/0.05mL) who had Fast RNFL analysis (Stratus TM ); IOP measurements were taken 30 minutes and 24 hours after each injection. RESULTS: The mean ages were 68.0±7.5 and 69.1±7.7 years in the IVR and IVB groups, respectively (P =0.55). They underwent (6.3±1.9) and (5.1±1.3) injections (P = 0.07) over (13.6±2.1) and (14.05±2.6) months (P =0.45) in the IVR and IVB groups, respectively. Changes in overall and temporal RNFL thickness in IVR-treated eyes (105.3± 6.9μm and 74.4±11.2μm) were not different from those in untreated eyes in the IVR group (104.6±8.4μm and 75.1±12.6μm) (P =0.57 and P =0.41, respectively). Similarly, overall and temporal RNFL thickness in IVB-treated eyes (105.8±8.1μm and 74.5±11.8μm) were not different from those in untreated eyes in the IVB group (104.6±8μm and 74.8±12.9μm) (P=0.42 and P=0.80, respectively). The frequencies of IOP rise (P=0.60) and changes in RNFL thickness from baseline (P =0.16) were comparable between groups. CONCLUSION: Repeated intravitreal injection of ranibizumab or bevacizumab does not seem have adverse effects on RNFL thickness or IOP in wet AMD patients.

Estimating the crowd count and density of highly dense scenes witnessed in Muslim gatherings at religious sites in Makkah and Madinah is critical for developing control strategies and organizing such a large ***,since the crowd images in this case can range from low density to high density,detection-based approaches are hard to apply for crowd ***,deep learning-based regression has become the prominent approach for crowd counting problems,where a density-map is estimated,and its integral is further computed to acquire the final count *** this paper,we put forward a novel multi-scale network(named 2U-Net)for crowd counting in sparse and dense *** proposed framework,which employs the U-Net architecture,is straightforward to implement,computationally efficient,and has single-step *** layers are used to retrieve the pooling layers’erased information and learn hierarchically pixelwise spatial *** helps in obtaining feature values,retaining spatial locations,and maximizing data integrity to avoid data *** addition,a modified attention unit is introduced and integrated into the proposed 2UNet model to focus on specific crowd *** proposed model concentrates on balancing the number of model parameters,model size,computational cost,and counting accuracy compared with other works,which may involve acquiring one criterion at the expense of other *** on five challenging datasets for density estimation and crowd counting have shown that the proposed model is very effective and outperforms comparable mainstream ***,it counts very well in both sparse and congested crowd *** 2U-Net model has the lowest MAE in both parts(Part A and Part B)of the ShanghaiTech,UCSD,and Mall benchmarks,with 63.3,7.4,1.5,and 1.6,***,it obtains the lowest MSE in the ShanghaiTech-Part B,UCSD,and Mall benchmarks with 12.0,1.9,and 2.1,respectively.

The toxicity and kinetic uptake potential of zinc oxide（Zn O） and titanium dioxide（TiO2）nanomaterials into the red bean（Vigna angularis） plant were investigated. The results obtained revealed that Zn O, due to its high dissolution and strong binding capacity, readily accumulated in the root tissues and significantly inhibited the physiological activity of the plant. However, TiO2 had a positive effect on plant physiology, resulting in promoted growth. The results of biochemical experiments implied that Zn O, through the generation of oxidative stress, significantly reduced the chlorophyll content, carotenoids and activity of stress-controlling enzymes. On the contrary, no negative biochemical impact was observed in plants treated with TiO2. For the kinetic uptake and transport study, we designed two exposure systems in which Zn O and TiO2 were exposed to red bean seedlings individually or in a mixture approach. The results showed that in single metal oxide treatments, the uptake and transport increased with increasing exposure period from one week to three ***, in the metal oxide co-exposure treatment, due to complexation and competition among the particles, the uptake and transport were remarkably decreased. This suggested that the kinetic transport pattern of the metal oxide mixtures varied compared to those of its individual constituents.

Solid oxide fuel cells （SOFCs） offer high energy conversion, low noise, low pollutant emission, and low processing cost. Despite many advantages, SOFCs face a major challenge in competing with other types of fuel cells because of their high operating temperature. The necessity to reduce the operational temperature of SOFCs has led to the development of research into the materials and fabrication technology of fuel cells. The use of composite cathodes significantly reduces the cathode polarization resistance and expands the triple phase boundary area available for oxygen reduction. Powder preparation and composite cathode fabrication also affect the overall performance of composite cathodes and fuel cells. Among many types of cathode materials, lanthanum-based materials such as lanthanum strontium cobalt ferrite （Lal_xSrxCOl_yFey03_~） have recently been discovered to offer great compatibility with ceria-based electrolytes in performing as composite cathode materials for intermediate- to low-temperature SOFCs （IT-LTSOFCs）. This paper reviews various ceria-based composite cathodes for IT-LTSOFCs and focuses on the aspects of progress and challenges in materials technology.

Tissue engineering essentially refers to technology for growing new human tissue and is distinct from regenerative medicine. Currently, pieces of skin are already being fabricated for clinical use and many other tissue types may be fabricated in the *** engineering was first defined in 1987 by the United States National Science Foundation which critically discussed the future targets of bioengineering research and its consequences. The principles of tissue engineering are to initiate cell cultures in vitro, grow them on scaffolds in situ and transplant the composite into a recipient in vivo. From the beginning, scaffolds have been necessary in tissue engineering applications. Regardless, the latest technology has redirected established approaches by omitting scaffolds. Currently, scientists from diverse research institutes are engineering skin without scaffolds. Due to their advantageous properties, stem cells have robustly transformed the tissue engineering field as part of an engineered bilayered skin substitute that will later be discussed in detail. Additionally, utilizing biomaterials or skin replacement products in skin tissue engineering as strategy to successfully direct cell proliferation and differentiation as well as to optimize the safety of handling during grafting is beneficial. This approach has also led to the cells' application in developing the novel skin substitute that will be briefly explained in this review.

Mobile ad-hoc networks （MANETs） and wireless sensor networks （WSNs） have gained remarkable apprecia- tion and technological development over the last few years. Despite ease of deployment, tremendous applications and significant advantages, security has always been a challeng- ing issue due to the nature of environments in which nodes operate. Nodes＇ physical capture, malicious or selfish behav- ior cannot be detected by traditional security schemes. Trust and reputation based approaches have gained global recog- nition in providing additional means of security for decision making in sensor and ad-hoc networks. This paper provides an extensive literature review of trust and reputation based models both in sensor and ad-hoc networks. Based on the mechanism of trust establishment, we categorize the state- of-the-art into two groups namely node-centric trust mod- els and system-centric trust models. Based on trust evidence, initialization, computation, propagation and weight assign- ments, we evaluate the efficacy of the existing schemes. Fi- nally, we conclude our discussion with identification of some unresolved issues in pursuit of trust and reputation manage- ment.

An islanding operation of a distribution network is a topic of interest due to the significant penetration of distributed generation(DG) in a power system network. However, controlling the frequency of an islanded distribution system remains an unresolved issue, especially when the load exceeds the generation. This paper presents a new technique for a successful islanding operation of a distribution network connected with multiple mini hydro based DGs. The proposed technique is based on three main parts. The first part uses an islanding detection technique to detect the islanding event correctly. The second part consists of a power imbalance estimation module(PIEM), which determines the power imbalance between the generation and load demand. The third part consists of a load shedding controller, which receives the power imbalance value and performs load shedding according to load priority. The proposed technique is validated on an 11 k V existing Malaysia distribution network. The simulation results show that the proposed technique is effective in performing a successful islanding operation by shedding a significant number of loads.

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) emerges with the visionof the Wireless Body Sensor Network (WBSN) to improve the health monitoringsystems and has an enormous impact on the healthcare system forrecognizing the levels of risk/severity factors (premature diagnosis, treatment,and supervision of chronic disease i.e., cancer) via wearable/electronic healthsensor i.e., wireless endoscopic capsule. However, AI-assisted endoscopy playsa very significant role in the detection of gastric cancer. Convolutional NeuralNetwork (CNN) has been widely used to diagnose gastric cancer based onvarious feature extraction models, consequently, limiting the identificationand categorization performance in terms of cancerous stages and gradesassociated with each type of gastric cancer. This paper proposed an optimizedAI-based approach to diagnose and assess the risk factor of gastric cancerbased on its type, stage, and grade in the endoscopic images for smarthealthcare applications. The proposed method is categorized into five phasessuch as image pre-processing, Four-Dimensional (4D) image conversion,image segmentation, K-Nearest Neighbour (K-NN) classification, and multigradingand staging of image intensities. Moreover, the performance of theproposed method has experimented on two different datasets consisting ofcolor and black and white endoscopic images. The simulation results verifiedthat the proposed approach is capable of perceiving gastric cancer with 88.09%sensitivity, 95.77% specificity, and 96.55% overall accuracy respectively.
