Dynamic experiment and numerical simulation of froz.n soil under confining pressure

With the development of cold region engineering,it is crucial to study the mechanical properties of froz.n *** practice,froz.n soil is inevitably subject to impact loading,making the study of froz.n soil under impact loading necessary for engineering in cold *** split–Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)is an important experimental means for obtaining the dynamic performance of *** this study,an SHPB experiment was conducted on froz.n soil under confining *** froz.n soil exhibited an evident strain rate effect and temperature effect under confining *** SHPB experiment on froz.n soil under confining pressure was simulated numerically using LS-DYNA software and the Holmquist–Johnson–Cook(HJC)material model.A loading simulation with passive confining pressure and active confining pressure was completed by adding an aluminum sleeve and applying a constant *** simulation results obtained using the above methods were in good agreement with the experimental *** strength of the froz.n soil under confining pressure was greater than that of the uniaxial impact,and there was an evident confining pressure ***,the confining pressure provided by passive confinement was larger than that provided by active *** passive confining pressure energy absorption efficiency was higher than for the active confining pressure due to the need to absorb more energy under the same damage *** froz.n soil exhibited viscoplastic failure characteristics under confining pressure.

Heat transfer analysis of bi-viscous ciliary motion fluid

The impulsion system of cilia motion is deliberated by biviscosity fluid model. The problem of two-dimensional motion of biviscosity fluid privileged in a symmetric channel with ciliated walls is considered. The features of ciliary structures are resolute by the supremacy of viscous effects above inertial possessions by the long-wavelength and low Reynolds approximation. Closed-form solutions for the longitudinal pressure gradient, temperature and velocities are obtained. The pressure gradient and volume flow rate for different values of the biviscosity are also premeditated. The flow possessions for the biviscosity fluid resolute as a function of the cilia and metachronal wave velocity.

Analysis of vibration reduction level in an 8/6 switched reluctance machine by active vibration cancellation

This paper proposes an analytical model for predicting the maximum vibration reduction level in a four-phase 8/6 switched reluctance machine(SRM) by employing active vibration cancellation(AVC),one of the most effective and convenient methods for reducing the vibration and acoustic noise produced by *** on the proposed method,the factors that influence the vibration reduction level are analyz.d in *** relationships between vibration and noise reduction levels at resonance frequency and rotor speed are ***,it is shown that a large damping factor will lead to smaller vibration reduction level with AVC while,in contrast,a large resonance frequency will increase the vibration reduction *** finite element analyses and experiments were carried out on a prototype 8/6 SRM to validate the proposed method.

With increasing attention to complex fluids and soft matter, we have witnessed a fast- growing research in mesoscopic modeling and simulation in the past decades. The development of mesoscopic methods offers many potential opportunities as well as challenges in modeling of complex materials for diverse applications. Despite significant progress in the past decade, mesoscopic methods are still under development. New formulation in the models, novel theo- retical interpretations, and innovative numerical algorithms often appear in literature. These mesoscopic methods have been already applied to a large number of problems, including poly- mer and colloidal suspensions, multiphase fluids, biological materials, and blood rheology. New applications of mesoscopic modeling in different areas are still emerging.

Scattering States of Schrdinger Equation under the Modified Cusp Potential

We solve the one-dimensionai time-independent Schrodinger equation in the presence of the modified Cusp potential and report the solutions in terms of the Whittaker functions. We obtain the reflection and transmission coefficients as well as the bound-state solutions in terms of the Whittaker functions. We comment on the solutions and discuss them in terms of the engaged parameters.

THERMODYNAMICS STUDY ON THE DECOMPOSITION OF CHROMITE WITH KOH

Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, has proposed a method for oxidative leaching of chromite with potassium hydroxide. Understanding the mechanism of chromite decomposition, especially in the potassium hydroxide fusion, is important for the optimiz.tion of the operating parameters of the oxidative leaching process. A traditional thermodynamic method is proposed and the thermal decomposition and the reaction decomposition during the oxidative leaching of chromite with KOH and oxygen is discussed, which suggests that chromite is mainly destroyed by reactions with KOH and oxygen. Meanwhile, equilibrium of the main reactions of the above process was calculated at different temperatures and oxygen partial pressures. The stable z.nes of productions, namely, K2CrO4 and Fe2O3, increase with the decrease of temperature, which indicates that higher temperature is not beneficial to thermodynamic reactions. In addition, a comparison of the general alkali methods is carried out, and it is concluded that the KOH leaching process is thermodynamically superior to the conventional chromate production process.

Male reproductive suppression： not a social affair

In the animal kingdom there are countless strategies via which males optimiz. their reproductivesuccess when faced with male-male competition. These male strategies typically fall into two maincategories： pre- and post-copulatory competition. Within these 2 categories, a set of behaviors,referred to as reproductive suppression, is known to cause inhibition of reproductive physiologyand/or reproductive behavior in an otherwise fertile individual. What becomes evident when con-sidering examples of reproductive suppression is that these strategies conventionally encompassreproductive interference strategies that occur between members of a hierarchical social ***, mechanisms aimed at impairing a competitor＇s reproductive output are also present innon-social animals. Yet, current thinking emphasiz.s the importance of sociality as the primarydriving force of reproductive suppression. Therefore, the question arises as to whether there is anactual difference between reproductive suppression strategies in social animals and equivalentpre-copulatory competition strategies in non-social animals. In this perspective paper we explore abroad taxonomic range of species whose individuals do not repeatedly interact with the same indi-viduals in networks and yet, depress the fitness of rivals. Examples like alteration of male repro-ductive physiology, female mimicry, rival spermatophore destruction, and cementing the rival＇sgenital region in non-social animals, highlight that male pre-copulatory reproductive suppressionand male pre-copulatory competition overlap. Finally, we highlight that a distinction between malereproductive interference in animals with and without a social hierarchy might obscure importantsimilarities and does not help to elucidate why different proximate mechanisms evolved. We there-fore emphasiz. that male reproductive suppression need not be restricted to social animals.

We study the Klein-Gordon oscillator in commutative, noncommutative space, and phase space with psudoharmonic potential under magnetic field hence the other choice is studying the Klein-Gordon equation oscillator in the absence of magnetic field. In this work, we obtain energy spectrum and wave function in different situations by NU method so we show our results in tables.
