Protein crystallization plays a significant role in three-dimensional structural analysis and protein *** is important to increase the crystallization efficiency,which is possible by adding hetero-geneous templates in crystallization *** is biologically compatible and artificially designable polymer,which is easy to *** this study,single-and double-stranded DNA of precise sequences were designed and used as templates to promote protein crystallization of lysozyme and ***-fluence of DNA,single-stranded DNA with 10,20,4. bases and double-stranded DNA with 10,20,4. base pairs,were *** success rate of obtaining crystals of lysozyme and catalase in equal period was significantly improved with the addition of DNA comparing without templates ***-stranded DNA led to higher nucleation rate than that with single-stranded *** promotion of nucleation was more obvious at low concentration of protein solution and with longer chain DNA *** number and crystallization rate was enhanced with addition of long double-stranded DNA *** the results confirm that DNA is an effective polymer additive to enhance protein crystallization,especially for the application of the scarce protein crystallization.

In the coal-to-ethylene glycol(CTEG)process,precisely estimating quality variables is crucial for process monitoring,optimization,and control.A significant challenge in this regard is relying on offline laboratory analysis to obtain these variables,which often incurs substantial monetary costs and significant time *** resulting few-shot learning scenarios present a hurdle to the efficient development of predictive *** address this issue,our study introduces the transferable adversarial slow feature extraction network(TASF-Net),an innovative approach designed specifically for few-shot quality prediction in the CTEG ***-Net uniquely integrates the slowness principle with a deep Bayesian framework,effectively capturing the nonlinear and inertial characteristics of the CTEG ***,the model employs a variable attention mechanism to identify quality-related input variables adaptively at each time step.A key strength of TASF-Net lies in its ability to navigate the complex measurement noise,outliers,and system interference typical in CTEG *** learning strategy using a min-max game is adopted to improve its robustness and ability to model irregular industrial data accurately and ***,an incremental refining transfer learning framework is designed to further improve few-shot prediction performance achieved by transferring knowledge from the pretrained model on the source domain to the target *** effectiveness and superiority of TASF-Net have been empirically validated using a real-world CTEG *** with some state-of-the-art methods,TASF-Net demonstrates exceptional capability in addressing the intricate challenges for few-shot quality prediction in the CTEG process.

Tumor hypoxia severely limits the therapeutic efficacy of photodynamic therapy(PDT) for solid tumors,which is highly dependent on tissue oxygen *** this study,we developed a platinum(Ⅱ)-acetylide-based metallacycle compound bearing six 1,4.dimethylnaphthalenes(DMN) groups,and controlled the photodynamic and photothermal effects of the compound by adjusting the power of 730 nm laser to achieve reversible sensitization,storage and release of 1~O_(2) within a single *** compound formed nanoparticles by self-assembly and exhibited good water solubility and *** laser irradiation,the strong spin-orbit coupling of platinum atoms in the metallacycle facilitated 1~O_(2) *** produced 1~O_(2) was captured by the DMN carriers and transported into the hypoxic tumor,where 1~O_(2) release was triggered owing to the good photothermal effect of the extended conjugation of the *** therapy,the metallacycle serving as a photosensitizer,1~O_(2) carrier,and photothermal reagent,achieved the synergistic therapy of PDT/PTT,demonstrating the versatility of the *** study proposes a new strategy to develop phototherapy agents that are suitable for hypoxic tumors.

The concerns over energy crisis and climate change caused by the excessive consumption of fossil fuels and the associated emission of greenhouse gases, have driven many countries to develop policies for an energy transition into zero-carbon energy sources, essentially aiming at decarbonizing their energy systems. Among various renewable sources, hydrogen has been hailed as an ideal alternative to provide secure, cost-effective, and non-polluting energy. In recent years, there has been noteworthy progress in hydrogen electrochemical conversion and utilization techniques and devices, including water electrolyzers, proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), etc. Each of these technologies has yielded a series of encouraging advances. To showcase these recent advances, Frontiers in Energy is launching a special issue titled “electrochemical conversion and utilization of hydrogen energy”.

Electrolytic water splitting(EWS)is an attractive and promising technique for the production of hydrogen ***,the sluggish kinetic rate of hydrogen/oxygen evolution reactions leads to a high overpotential and low energy *** to date,Pt/Ir-based nanocatalysts have become the state-of-the-art EWS catalysts,but disadvantages such as high cost and low earth abundance greatly limit their applications in EWS *** an attractive candidate for the Pt/Ir catalysts,series of Ru-based nanomaterials have aroused much attention for their low price,Pt-like hydrogen bond strength,and high EWS *** particular,Ru-doped functional porous materials have been becoming one of the most representative EWS catalysts,which can not only achieve the dispersion and adjustment for active Ru sites,but also simultaneously solve the problems of mass transfer and catalytic conversion in *** this review,the design and preparation strategies of Ru-doped functional porous materials toward EWS in recent years are summarized,including Ru-doped metal organic frameworks(MOFs),Ru-doped porous organic polymers(POPs),and their ***,detailed structure–activity relationships induced by the tuned geometric/electronic structures of Ru-doped functional porous materials are further depicted in this *** but not least,the challenges and perspectives of Ru-doped functional porous materials catalysts are reasonably proposed to provide fresh ideas for the design of Ru-based EWS catalysts.

With increasing drilling depth and large dosage of weighting materials,drilling fluids with high solid content are characterized by poor stability,high viscosity,large water loss,and thick mud cake,easier leading to reservoir damage and wellbore *** this paper,micronized barite(MB)was modified(mMB)by grafting with hydrophilic polymer onto the surface through the free radical polymerization to displace conventional API barite *** suspension stability of water-based drilling fluids(WBDFs)weighted with API barite:mMB=2:1 in 600 g was significantly enhanced compared with that with API barite/WBDFs,exhibiting the static sag factor within 0.54.and the whole stability index of *** viscosity and yield point reached the minimum,with a reduction of more than 4.%compared with API barite only at the same *** multi-stage filling and dense accumulation of weighting materials and clays,filtration loss was decreased,mud cake quality was improved,and simultaneously it had great reservoir protection performance,and the permeability recovery rate reached 87%.In addition,it also effectively improved the lubricity of *** sticking coefficient of mud cake was reduced by 53.4.,and the friction coefficient was ***,mMB can serve as a versatile additive to control the density,rheology,filtration,and stability of WBDFs weighted with API barite,thus regulating comprehensive performance and achieving reservoir protection *** work opened up a new path for the productive drilling of extremely deep and intricate wells by providing an efficient method for managing the performance of high-density WBDFs.

Many previous studies suggested that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2) infection elevated the risk of morbidity and 90-day mortality after operation, especially pulmonary complications [1–7]. Uncertainty about perioperative safety puts off the progress of elective surgery [8]. The Omicron variant has recently become the dominant variant causing prevalence in several countries [9]. Although a high rate of patients with Omicron presented asymptomatic status [10], it is still unclear whether Omicron infection would raise the risk of postoperative complications.

We study superradiant phase transitions in a hybrid system of a two-dimensional bose–Einstein condensate of atoms and two cavities arranged with a tilt *** adjusting the loss rate of cavities,we map out the phase diagram of steady states within a mean field *** is found that when the loss rates of the two cavities are different,superradiant transitions may not occur at the same time in the two cavities.A first-order phase transition is observed between the states with only one cavity in superradiance and both in *** the case that both cavities are superradiant,a net photon current is observed flowing from the cavity with small decay rate to the one with large decay *** photon current shows a non-monotonic dependence on the loss rate difference,owing to the competition of photon number difference and cavity field phase *** findings can be realized and detected in experiments.
